Beautiful LEGO: Wild!

Posted by ,

Hot on the heels of No Starch Press' Medieval LEGO press release, we've received one about another LEGO book that it is publishing later in the year:

Beautiful LEGO: Wild! Nature springs to life in Mike Doyle's latest collection of LEGO art

Hailed as a "stunning array" by TODAY and "a feast for the senses" by Wired, the Beautiful LEGO series is back with a new collection of breathtaking art. The highly anticipated Beautiful LEGO: Wild! (No Starch Press, $24.95, 232 pp., September 2015) is brimming with imaginative and vibrant masterpieces from the most talented LEGO builders in the world.

From adorable pets and marine critters to magnificent arboreal landscapes, the creations in Beautiful LEGO: Wild! are sure to delight the artist, naturalist, and LEGO enthusiast in everyone.

Interviews with LEGO masters give readers an exclusive look into the minds behind the art. For featured builder Sean Kenney, creating art with LEGO is more than just connecting pieces—it's capturing the essence of a subject: "It has to have life. My sculptures need to be rooted in personal expression." One of Kenney's pieces, Monarch, is made from more than 60,000 LEGO pieces.

Tom Poulsom, whose amazing bird sculptures became an official LEGO set this year, explains the appeal of working in such an unusual medium. "To me, LEGO is the best puzzle in the world. There are infinite combinations, and it's possible to create pretty much anything your mind can imagine."

According to No Starch Press founder Bill Pollock, "Readers love to see their hobbies come to life. The Beautiful LEGO books are the perfect addition to any geek or art lover's coffee table."

Beautiful LEGO: Wild! will be available in bookstores everywhere this September and can be pre-ordered from Amazon: Amazon.co.uk | Amazon.com | Amazon.ca

Wow, these are stunning! Especially the underwater scene with the starfish and puffer fish and the bee and butterfly. I'm not normally into mini builds but the multi coloured forest with the little hut is amazing. I don't have any Lego books yet but this one might be perfect for the coffee table. A nice way to relax and enjoy the serenity.

One of my creations (https://flic.kr/p/hWJvHr) is supposed to be in this book! I'm not entirely sure how Mike tied it in to the "wild" theme, but I haven't heard anything from him to indicate that it was dropped or pushed to the next volume. I look forward to getting my copy of the book!

A lot of my friends from the BIONICLE community also have MOCs in this book. I'm really happy that Mike is so open-minded about what kinds of MOCs he includes. I have the first two books in this series and they include all kinds of models at all kinds of sizes and made with all kinds of different parts. The one common thread, besides the "dark" and "wild" themes of the second and third books, is that all the MOCs are artistic and beautiful in their own way.
