Amazon Bargain Watch pages now live for France and Germany
Posted by Huw,
Following the success of the Amazon.com and Amazon.co.uk Bargain Watch pages, DrDave and I are pleased to announce that the Amazon.de and Amazon.fr Bargain Watch pages are now live!
If you're in one of those countries you'll see a link in the top corner of the page, which link to http://www.brickset.com/buy/de/amazon/ and http://www.brickset.com/buy/fr/amazon/.
The alerting system for these countries is almost ready to go live but we're working on translating the text before doing so. So, expect to see them in action soon. We'll also try and get the actual Bargain Watch pages translated, too.
Do let us know if these will be useful to you. Spain and Italy are next...

Yipee, Italy too! :D Thanks! :) Well, I live in the UK anyway... :P But I'm Italian! :)
EDIT: Yee-haa, the LEGOShop.com button is back! :)
EDIT 2: DrDaveWatford is now an administrator! :D So now we have a 5-strong team leading Brickset! :)
EDIT 3: Are you using Google Translate for the translations? :P XD
Great !
If you need help to translate into french, drop me a line
^^ 3: No!
@Huw: Good! :P Google Translate can produce some funny results, so it's best to avoid it. :P
EDIT: Why do the charts use the American date system? :P Is it Amazon? :P
All I can say is: Geil! And C'est formidable!
Please please please don't use Google translate, there must be native Deutsche, français, españoles and italiani on Brickset who can help you out.
@LostInTranslation: Oooh, I can help for the Italian version. :P Just give me a moment, I'll post it here (can't use email), unless Huw says no. :P
@alemas: its nothing to do with me mate. It's just that as a translator by trade, I'm not a fan of translation by machines.
Bargain Watch page translation:
Huw, do you want a formal tone? And please don't kill me for posting this here, I'm only a kid who can't use his email address to talk to other people. :P
I would love the spanish one! thanks a lot for this! it's very helpful!
@alemas: wow, I'm impressed! That was quick! Just need to put the accents on properly and you're good to go. Do you want a job? :p
@LostInTranslation: Yeah, I don't have the appropriate keys... :P Next up, the alerts. :P I may have to do it later, though... We'll see.
News alert article translation:
I sequenti set sono appena stati ridotti di piu' del 30% su Amazon.it:
[Set] adesso soltanto [Price] (uno sconto di [Price] dal prezzo raccomandato)
Puoi vedere tutti i set attualmente scontati su Amazon.it sulla nostra pagina Amazon Bargain Watch.
Nota: Se preferisci di non vedere questi avvertimenti puoi cambiare le tue preferenze per nasconderle.
MADE IT! :P
Molto bene. Just one typo (i think - its a long time since my Italian gcse!)
Si! Dai Huw, facci il Amazon per noi! Vogliamo vedere i prezzi dei Lego!
And this was not written with Google Translate! But it means "Get us Amazon.it"!
@LostInTranslation: Corrected. :) I put "not" instead of "non". :P
Thank you Alemas, I knew you'd come in handy one day :-)
@alemas: yep, that's what I thought :)
I'm not taking French until High School (next school year to be exact), so no help for you there. :P
@Huw: No problem! :) Glad to be of service, for once. :P
Just one last thing, the RSS feed at the bottom of the Bargain Watch page:
Iscriviti al nostro Amazon.it RSS feed per tenersi aggiornati con i cambiamenti.
^ Cheers, Alemas !
OK, so who speaks Spanish ?
:-)
And no worries, jonbuddy - French and German are sorted.
@DrDave: Any chance that the Amazon.it Bargain Watch page will go live tomorrow, then? :P
Hm, there's still small stuff to translate, I'll do it later. :P
@DrDave: I do, but I translate the other way I'm afraid.
@Alemas: not sure that will happen, DrDave and Huw will be kicking back at flump's bbq tmrw :)
^^^ Getting these up and running takes a fair bit of work; Italy probably won't be ready for a couple of weeks I suspect.
@LostInTranslation: Oh, yeah... :P
@DrDave: All the time in the world to finish up the translations. :P Anyway, here they come...
@DrDave: if no one volunteers for the Spanish translation, I could always ask one of the Spanish girls at work if they'd mind doing it.
Small stuff...
Prices last retrieved at... = Ultimi prezzi recuperati alle [Time] del [Date]
Free postage = Spedizione gratuita
Price is the same as yesterday = Prezzo e' lo stesso di ieri
Price has fallen by [Price] since yesterday = Prezzo e' diminuito di [Price] da ieri
Price has risen by [Price] since yesterday = Prezzo e' salito di [Price] da ieri
Buy at Amazon = Compra su Amazon
Buy = Compra
Discount = Sconto
Amazon Price = Prezzo Amazon
Save [Price] = Risparmi [Price]
Right, I think that's it. :P Yeesh, all this should be spam, but at least it's useful spam... :P
EDIT: One more:
RRP = Prezzo consigliato
Replace "prezzo racommandato" with "prezzo consigliato" in the news alert translation, it sounds better.
Wait, who can forget the Amazon button?! :P
Vedi TUTTI i set scontati su Amazon.it nella nostra esclusiva lista di sconti
And the name?! :P
Bargain Watch: Prezzi scontati su Amazon.it
There, that's REALLY it. :P I hope... :P
EDIT: Wrong, the news article cathegory is still not translated. :P What can it be... Ok, here:
Allerte Amazon.it
Simples. :P At this rate, we'll translate the whole of Brickset... :P Can Brickset support multiple languages, Huw?
This is when English can't be translated into Italian: How can we translate "Bargain Watch"?! :P "Bargain" can't be easily translated... I think we'll have to keep it as it is. :P
Haha... I played with the Bargain Watch URL, and look what I've got: http://www.brickset.com/buy/it/amazon/ And http://www.brickset.com/buy/es/amazon/
How many countries are you going to do?
Amazon.it too please. :-)
Great, I get most of my lego from amazon.fr and amazon.co.uk
and I speak pretty much all World Languages (double major in Acting and World Languages)
^ Brian does the text in the white Amazon box read OK?
@Thompson*2, sadly not Canada because Amazon doesn't sellLEGO there
@soapbox: They are working on it. And I've translated the page... :P
Nice one! Thanks for including Amazon.de! Keep up the excellent work.
Thank you so much for adding amazon.fr !
Next step now is to let TLC know that France exist ...
^^^I know, it's unfair, isn't it? But I can still use the USA Amazon, thankfully.
@Huw - sorry Huw, I don't follow you there - I can see two Amazon links (.de & .fr) at the top left hand side of this page, if thats what you're wondering. I would say the text is slightly out of focus, but nothing to worry about - just looks like a low res pic that has been enlarged a little. Does that answer your question?
^ No, what I meant was does the text in the white box on the top of the menu on the home page, shown to people in France, read properly:
Voir tous les ensembles actualisés au {Amazon.fr image} dans notre liste de rabais exclusifs
It was translated by Google, but I've just noticed that DrDave has the same text translated in a spreadsheet he sent me, to:
Voyez chaque ensemble de LEGO escompté par {Amazon.fr image} dans notre liste exclusive de l'épargne.
I guess the latter is better? If so, I'll change it.
@Huw: You said you wouldn't use Google!
Great! Thank you a lot!
@Huw, the first one is better (Google translate) than the second, but you might want to have that confirmed by BrianOg.
Well, as streeker mentioned, Google did a rather good job. Though, it could be better.
Instead of translating a word for a word, giving the main idea seems better. I would propose : "Voir les sets LEGO en promotion sur Amazon.fr dans notre liste de remises exclusives"
That's just my 2 cents, and Brian may have an even better version.
Amazon.es was ready like 1 month ago. And LEGO offers are cool as in US and UK
@Huw
This is what I came up with with the help of a colleague (I'm actually Irish, but live in France) - its tricky though, cos some simple English words/phrases just don't exist in French. Anyways, here goes nothing:
Retrouvez toutes les dernières bonnes affaires sur Amazon.fr dans notre liste de rabais exclusive
If you could tell me the exact wording in English, I'll get my wife to take a look - she is French, has a PH.D in French literature, and is a French teacher - she should know! - tho she hates my Lego hobby:(
Exact text is
See EVERY discounted set at
{Amazon.co.uk} image
in our exclusive savings list
Thanks everyone for your help!
Wait a second, if "de" is Germany, then what's Denmark?!?!!? :P
.dk
@Huw - OK, the wife confirmed that my wording above is spot on - here it is again:
Retrouvez toutes les dernières bonnes affaires sur
{Amazon.fr} image
dans notre liste de rabais exclusive
Thanks, will get it changed.
I can still comment on this, even though it's not on the front page anymore... :P Anyway, when will we get a translated version of the Bargain Watch page in French, German, Italian and Spanish?
