Temple of Airjitzu available now
Posted by Huw,
VIPs can now get their hands on 70751 Temple of Airjutzu from shop.LEGO.com. When we published the press release I questioned whether there was a market for it, what with it being too expensive for young Ninjago fans and the theme being of limited interest to AFOLs. However having now built the first section of the set, and seen the rest at Bricktastic, I can tell you that it's a stunning model that successfully fuses Japanese architecture with the play elements of Ninjago to create a set that will appeal to both audiences. Even if you throw the minifigures out, you're left with an impressive-looking building that's great for displaying.
We will bring you our review as soon as we can. In the meantime, please use these links to place your order: UK (£169.99) | USA ($199.99) | Canada ($229.99) | Germany | France.
Also, if you are in Europe, you will receive a free 30293 Kai Drifter polybag with orders over £25 and in USA/Canada a free 30205 Pop Star polybag with Friends, Elves and Princess sets over $35.

Going to pick one up in the morning, can't wait!
I would agree that with the complexity of the build and the price range, it is a set that seems to be for the older child (in all of us). I made this set as a 'Live Build' at BrickTastic! and the response from the visitors (mainly boys) was fascinating. They knew every character and appreciated every stage of the build. It will be a superb addition to anyone's Ninjago collection and certainly has that 'centre-piece' quality that Huw alludes to.
The thirteen bags allow the build to be at a steady pace - even permitting pausing to admire the detail and some wonderfully clever building tips (the miners helmet inverted to become a water bowl is one outstanding example). The inclusion of 12 figures ensures that there is a lot of playability with this set. Enjoy.
Although I click 'I want it' at the set page of this particular set, it does not appear in my 'I want this set'-list . The same applies to the other options. But the functions work well with all other sets.
Still showing as "Coming Soon" in the US...
If anyone's throwing their minifigs out, I'll have em!!!
I've got no interest in the ninja minifigures, but for the architecture alone, this will make a nice addition to my city layout for the citizens to take a break and sit by the pond.
I did put wish list few days ago then check shop.lego.com and now gone this morning. I could not find that set for VIP only.
Someone suggested throwing mini figures out?!? These are mini figures and not Minidolls! That's like saying you are in favor of the color change.
Auch...€ 229,99 in Belgium compared to € 199,99 in France.
Nice fusion of a play set with traditional Japanese Architecture.
Niiice. Been waiting for this.
available in Switzerland at Chf 229. Ordered already!
@The Green Brick Giant: *raises hand* I liked the color change!
But I agree, it's silly to "throw out" the minifigures. Though I can see why some people might want to omit the ninja if they use this in their City display, or swap Zane's head for a normal yellow minifigure head if they want a more traditional ninja temple display without any sci-fi weirdness.
I'm kind of surprised that some people seem to take issue with these ninja COSTUMES, though. When Ninjago first came out, a lot of people complained that it was like the "jellybean knights" all over again and that ninja really ought to be less colorful. Suddenly we get ninja that ARE less colorful, and yet somehow traditionally-minded people don't like them either?
I look forward to getting this set, but I'm not in a particular hurry. There are a lot of other great sets I still want that I'm waiting on some kind of deal to get, so once we have double VIP points or something similarly enticing I might bundle this into the same order.
Looking forward to the Temple. Certainly a very good set, and a fine example of Japanese architecture. I'll wait a while like Aanchir to get a good discount though. Will probably pick it up sometime around Christmas.
Thou shalt resist temptation for a few more weeks ... yeah right, who am I kidding? :p
Ordered mine this morning! This is the first time I've made a "day-one" purchase, but honestly I want to get my hands on it as soon as possible!
This is the first time I ordered using the VIP early access. Previously there have been polybags or promos worth waiting for but the September tractor isn't compelling enough to wait for. Looking forward to building this one for sure.
^Exactly. Nothing really worth waiting for. Picked mine up just now! I did see piles of discounted Exo-Suits and Lonely Mountains which were tempting but kept my eyes on the prize.
Ugh! I'm a VIP but I can't afford it!!!!!!! 230 bucks is WAY overpriced!!!!!!
Thanks for the reminder, Huw, this one snuck up on me! I have never ventured into the $200 price range, but given my love of both Ninjago and just how awesome this set looks, I have to make an exception here!
Time for a trip to the LEGO Store...
This one was never going to sneak up on me - I've been looking forward to this set since January (I think) when the list of this years exclusives was revealed. I bought this from the Lego shop yesterday and say the one on display - its absolutely gorgeous. Its much bigger than I anticipated based on the images. I've started building and have so far completed the small buildings. They are just so lovely to put together. So far, this ranks up there with my favourite sets.
I love that Lego has come up with a very elegant way of introducing these creative builds, which on their own right could be fairly slow sellers, by pairing them with a popular intellectual property and establishing the business case for producing such an impressive set. Hopefully we get to see just how far their creativity will take us in the future because of this.
Incidentally, did anyone else notice the awesome usage of the garage doors?
@Tungster830: I'm not sure what you mean? $230 CAD is equivalent to a little less than $180 USD. You're paying LESS than what the US is paying ($200 USD or about $260 CAD). And that's a plenty reasonable price for a set with over 2000 pieces and a dozen figs. There are plenty of exclusive sets like 75095 TIE Fighter, 75060 Slave I, 10240 Red Five X-Wing Starfighter, and 76023 The Tumbler at the same price for considerably fewer parts and figs.
Ordered this one yesterday. Will be giving minifigures to my kid. It Will fit Well in my train layout.
Not sure what all the rush is for!! VIP means nothing to Lego really.. Especially when the majority of sets are available at a lot less than retail on other sites.. Make it worth our while Lego.. No giveaway or double points.. I can wait a couple of weeks.. VIP just helps Lego manage stock levels.
Why would anyone throw their mini figs out!
I just saw this built on display at our local store and it is truly amazing... large and detailed...
A total must buy... the box does not do it justice
This is a must buy even at $299AU. I wouldn't throw the figures out but I'm sure the original poster was demonstrating that they felt the building was worth the price without the figures.
I'd rather have a cheaper building but recognise that we wouldn't have the building without the theme to support it therefore I will dispose of the figures thoughtfully to others who would appreciate them more.
Beautiful set. I must get at least 2 of these.
Just bought from Lego shop in Europe. Amazing design.
But there is something weird: it's missing a dark red 1 x 2 brick and there is a broom...
