Events this weekend and next: will new sets be revealed?

Posted by ,

The next two weekends are among the most important in the AFOL calendar. This weekend Fan Weekend takes place in Skærbæk, Denmark, where hundreds of AFOLs from all over Europe descend on the small coastal town to socialise and to put on a display for the public. I'm going for the first time this year and I'm looking forward to it very much.

On the first weekend in October, BrickCon, one of the largest events in the USA takes place in Seattle, and in the UK it's the Great Western Brick Show in Swindon, which I will also be attending along with other Brickset staff members.

In previous years LEGO has unveiled new Exclusive sets on one or both of the weekends, usually those that are being released in January, so keep an eye out for announcements here and elsewhere.

If you're going to Skærbæk or GWBS I look forward to seeing you there. If you're going to the latter and want a name badge so we can identify you, please complete the form in this article. So far 25 people have signed up for one, so there should be a good crowd of Bricksetters there.

By in United Kingdom,

Dimensions will have been released by the time of these events, and the pieces in it will no longer be new... Doctor Who, anybody?

By in United States,

We will be at Seattle for the first time as well! Exciting!

By in United Kingdom,

Have fun at the Skærbæk 'Fan Weekend' Huw (and anyone else going this year) - my wife & I have done it in the past & it's an event that every MOCer should attend at least once :-)

Huw, are you going to be at either of the Brick 2015's?

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Yes, both.

By in United States,

Hopefully we will get a look at the Doctor Who set that we were promised long ago. Personally, I expected to see some images of it back when we got our first look at Wall-e and the Doctor Who dimensions pack.

By in United States,

I would like to know the next Creator sets since a modular build is due in January. An outside chance for the next vehicle too following on from the F40 (I am assuming the VW van will retire in the near future).

As mentioned the Doctor Who Ideas set is due too.

By in Belgium,

Will TLG be in attendance at Skærbæk now that they don't organise it?

By in United States,

If we get a new set reveal, it'll either be Doctor Who or the Hoth Echo Base.

Gravatar
By in Netherlands,

Hoth Echo Base seems like a given. But I really hope we get to see the Ghostbusters Firehouse HQ!

By in United Kingdom,

i was told there'll be a ucs snowspeeder after the echo base by a lego employee the other week. doubt that'll be on show yet though.

By in United States,

By in United States,

Any chance we'll get a new advanced models Train? I've been looking forward to that!

By in United States,

Maybe we will see the Doctor...

Tick tock goes the clock
Till the Doctor comes to Lego
Tick tock goes the clock
Till the set's revealed

By in United States,

Yes ra226: I agree, we need our train! Screw the Dr. fans: we want our train darn it! ;) (No real offense to the Dr. Who fans, in fact the exclusive train fans are in the exact same situation as you guys: comrades in Lego induced misery)

By in South Korea,

Yes Aragosta; I do hope to hear an official news of releasing Ghostbust HQ!! at either of those events....This weekend or next weekend!

Gravatar
By in Netherlands,

what time can we usually expect the revealing of new sets.

Gravatar
By in United States,

There have been 2 Star Wars UCS sets this year. I would like to see a follow on landmark creator set in the vein of Tower Bridge or Sydney Opera house. That would be much more deserving over >4000 pieces than a Ghostbusters building.

By in United States,

I'm thinking the Doctor Who Ideas set got scrapped and Lego just did Doctor Who for the Dimensions game. Hope I am wrong......

Gravatar
By in United States,

You are. I've got a photo of the set. Can't share, though!

By in Norway,

No new set revealed in Skærbæk this year - at least not at the Saturday dinner, where it's usually been done. Lovely event though :)

By in South Korea,

Ah...then we should wait the unveil of GBHQ until brickcon in Seattle next week?

Gravatar
By in United States,

Even if there is a GBHQ I hope there is a) a modular street building in January (no news on that at all), b) a creator transportation project in Q1 (following on from Maersk ship, VW van, Mini Cooper and F40) and c) a real building (following on from Taj Mahal, Eiffel Tower, Tower Bridge and Sydney Opera House).
There are leaks about two Star Wars UCS builds for 2016 but nothing on any of these creator series models.

By in United States,

What makes a set "exclusive"? Thanks!

Gravatar
By in Singapore,

Believe just means sold at particular stores mainly Lego branded or in some instances TRU.

By in Netherlands,

I check brickset a couple of times a day, but with this article posted I loaded the site almost every hours. Same there is no new sets reveald this year.

By in United Kingdom,

When Lego finally make doctor who, they need to make it a proper theme. I need a set with all the classic and new Daleks from series 9 episode 2!

Gravatar
By in United States,

I guess that's a no for this weekend
