Doctor Who teaser published

Posted by ,

Yesterday while all the Brickset staff were busy at the Great Western Brick Show (which was great, btw), LEGO released this Doctor Who teaser image on social media which must surely indicate that the long-overdue reveal and release of the set is imminent.

Meanwhile, two projects achieved 10,000 supporters over the weekend: 20.000 Leagues under the Sea NAUTILUS and Jurassic Park Explorer, the first two to do so for the third review period of 2015.

By in Australia,

Looks like at least some parts of the TARDIS are printed which is good to see and that Andrew Clark's idea has been followed pretty closely. Looking forward to seeing more pictures of this set :)

Good to hear about the Jurassic Park Explorer as well, hoping that will pass review.

Nice although I do not get the print/sticker divided into two 3 stud tiles...

^Yeah that's a mystery to me as well. Maybe they found it too hard to print on a 1X8.

It's because (assuming they follow the original design) it opens up to make a playset.

There's what appears to be a hinge visible on the right surface of the Tardis so I think it probably does open up.

I didn't like the split sticker/printed tile either. But at least the other 3 sides should have a full length one, right?

edit: actually, if the sides are hinged, they probably have a split tile too :-(

I also suspect it was split so that the set could open open.

It's definitely hinged, looking at the leaked pictures the whole thing opens up, the roof lifts off, one door lays flat, and a console playset folds out from inside.

I really wanted the Jurassic Park gate but the Explorer with those 3 figures would be great too.

As for the Who set looking at the ideas project it comes with K9 and cybermen so hope they do come in this set not just with dimensions.

Nice, but I'll only get it if it comes with the 4th or 7th Doctors. Maybe the 10th.

Very pleased to see this, nice teaser for the set. With my design on Ideas the 1x3 tiles with the Police Box graphic are further outwards than the hinge joint, so they need to fold up to allow the Tardis to open up. In the video on my project it explains this.

I've got to be honest, if we don't see at least one component of senteosan's Jurassic Park gate, I'll be disappointed in LEGO Ideas. He gathered almost 10k votes, then got archived, achieved the 10k votes for the original gate, got denied, achieved the 10k votes for the standalone T-Rex (in review), and has now achieved 10k votes for the Explorer. If crowd sourcing ideas is the goal...the crowd has spoken. LEGO already has the Jurassic license (and it's hard to see these display quality builds conflicting with the sparse playsets available now) AND LEGO has licensing with Ford Motor Company for the Raptor being released next year, so the Explorer name shouldn't be too hard to grab as well.

If LEGO turns him away again, I really hope he can make instructions, maybe even kickstart / crowdfund some high quality stickers, and work with one of the minifig printers to do the JP minifigs.

^The fact that TLG already has the Jurassic Park license is also one of the biggest reasons his projects probably won't get approved, unfortunately. Would be nice though.

TLG had better make a full, long running theme out of this like they did with minecraft... I need some classic daleks, or the red supreme one!

I'm so excited!!! And I just can't hide it!

Are those new pieces on the door panels?

I see that they received the message I sent them yesterday.
