Does the Christmas Train offer also kick in in Europe during this time? I've got a few purchases to make and would like to maximise the offers, of possible.

VIP extended twice. Maybe Lego is starting to realize they are shooting themselves in the foot with the price increases, lack of exclusives discounts and general increase in poor quality bricks.

I went to the local Lego store yesterday to get my Xmas set and it was dead. They said they were surprised at the poor turn out.

The first extension was already decided upon well before Oct. 1. My local store told me about it on September 20. So it is likely that the second extension was also planned well in advance. LEGO sent me an e-mail late yesterday afternoon (Oct. 13) announcing the second extension, just a half-hour after I placed an online order. Perhaps these extensions were part of a marketing experiment to see how the double points promotion drives sales. From a customer viewpoint, the inconsistency of the promotion dates does not play well.

By in Ireland,

Picked up Ferris Wheel 10247 and some power functions to go along with it this morning on LEGO.com. Intend getting Santa's Workshop 10245 and Detective's Office 10246 next week with the free train! Expensive month.....

It sucks that LEGO won't ship to third party companies that bring stuff from the US to my country, Guatemala. I've lost my VIPs and I'm no longer able to buy from LEGO shop directly. I really want some seasonal sets but these are way to expensive in the second market.

Anybody else seeing the "technical difficulties" in the US online store cart, since at least Tuesday night?

By in Canada,

^ Yup, same in Canada. I was just putting some orders through and had to try a couple of times. The Free train was showing up as a CAD 10.99 item in my cart and the value was calculated towards the total. 5 mins later it was free again. There was a notice that there were some problems and can take up to 24 hours to process orders.

However runs the shop.lego.com website should have a very bad performance review at the end of the year...

Given that the set is a little larger than the usual polybag giveaway, I'd think that it's likely to be a higher value required.
