Go behind the scenes of Mixels, part 1

Posted by ,

Have you ever wondered how LEGO and Cartoon Network came together to create one of the most popular themes? Well, now you can find out!

On the Mixels minisite on LEGO.com, part one of a five-part documentary series has been uploaded, entitled The World of Mixels. If you look closely, you can even catch glimpses of next year's Series 7 and Series 8!

Part two should be up soon enough; we'll let you all know when!

@TheBrickPal, Huh, maybe because it's cheap?

Mixels is super popular! My kids like them more than any other LEGO and although every series I think they have run out of ideas they bring out a bunch of great new wacky characters! For kids it is a great way to build their own monster with far more interesting pieces than what you get in a creative box.

I'll just say Mixels is one of the most under-rated LEGO themes ever.

I don't understand some of the hate the Mixels get. I have every series apart from Series 1 (Sad face) and I absolutely LOVE THEM. Great parts packs too - not much to complain about really.

^ I'd say a lot actually do; the latest episode got over a million in ratings on its premiere.

This is way overblown, Mixels is not that popular. I get that you're trying to hype something, but your writing style almost leaves me with a cavity.

@SiBrown It's not hate, it's reality. Mixels was anticipated with a lot of excitement, and that excitement seemed to evaporate very quickly, around wave 3 or so. I think people liked the idea in concept, but clearly not in practice. As a result, you see Mixels news puttering by without much interest compared to other stories and they are constantly on clearance shelves. If you enjoy them, great! The majority of the Lego community is pretty indifferent apparently.

It's also funny that the comments are entirely comprised of comments either questioning or defending their relevance. That should say something to you. Have you EVER seen a Collectable Minifigures news story with people saying "who even cares anymore?"

No, no you haven't.

^ You only say this because I know you hate the theme for some reason.

No, I'm indifferent to the Mixels. Like I said, it's not hate, it's reality. The Mixels is just not as popular as you say it is.

The show gets MANY views whenever it's on, the sets sell extremely well and disappear easily everywhere I look, and the fandom just keeps growing. I don't know how you can say that's NOT popular. It would have ended after 2014 if it wasn't.

Anyway, this article is about the video, not the state of the theme, so let's go back to that.

Just because you haven't seen a lot of interest doesn't mean there isn't.

You can only find the popularity if you look really hard.
