City Advent Calendar Review: Day 23

Posted by ,

All three Advent Calendars have only two days left to impress LostInTranslation and I, so let's hope they live up to expectations.

Today's City offering is a space shuttle which connects with yesterday's rockets. Individually the two models are rather mediocre but together they form a lovely little shuttle assembly which has substantial play value and looks great in my opinion. The booster rockets and fuel tank can all be separated from the craft just as in reality and you can then fly the shuttle around independently.

The scaling between today's shuttle and its booster rockets is obviously inaccurate but I think it looks pretty good considering the scale and lots of details have been captured including the cockpit, the rear stabiliser and the cargo bay doors. There is no opening mechanism but I think the jumper plate suggests that this is not simply a section of hull but rather a cargo bay. It certainly distinguishes it from the other white surfaces on the model.

Overall - 4.5 - Individually today's model is not much better than yesterday's but when the two are combined they are far better and that is why I have awarded this score.

By in France,

Even if I don't understand why there is a shuttle in advent calendar, I like it! The scale is really interesting. I should try to build a landscape with this "miniscale", that's an idea I have for few monthes now.
First, I think I will use it as a toy for minifig going out from Toy shop in my winter model then I think I will try to build my own modular which could be an aeronautical museum (I already have some models of airmlanes and helicopters).
Lot of things to do with this shuttle! :)

(Sorry about my English, that's not my native language...)

By in Australia,

The toys in this year's advent calendar have been impressive; space shuttle, remote control cars, aeroplane and wind up bulldozer. They're perfect for filling up the vacant space in the toy section of the Grand Emporium!

By in Norway,

Overall it looks nice with the yesterdays boosters. As I tought, it was a Lego take on the Shuttle. Not quite the real one.

By in United States,

If you don't have the bases of the rocket boosters aligned right, it falls over...
Whats left for tomorrow, Santa himself? HO HO HO...!
