LEGO Star Wars: The Force Awakens video game announced

Posted by ,

The next installment of TT's LEGO Star Wars-based games has just been announced. LEGO Star Wars: The Force Awakens is due for release at the end of June and it's likely that polybag 30605 Finn (FN-2187) will be available as an incentive to buy it at particular outlets or ahead of release.

A description from the Xbox store and a launch trailer can be seen after the break.

CapnRex101 has a FN-2187 polybag and will be posting a review later today.

The Force is strong with this one… The No. 1 LEGO videogame franchise triumphantly returns with a fun-filled, humorous journey based on the blockbuster Star Wars film. Play as Rey, Finn, Poe, BB-8, Kylo Ren, Han Solo, and the rest of your favorite characters from the movie!

In LEGO Star Wars: The Force Awakens, players relive the epic action from the blockbuster film Star Wars: The Force Awakens, retold through the clever and witty LEGO lens. The game will also feature exclusive playable content that bridges the story gap between Star Wars Episode VI: Return of the Jedi and Star Wars: The Force Awakens. LEGO Star Wars: The Force Awakens also introduces Multi-Builds and Blaster Battles to the LEGO videogame universe.

With Multi-Builds, use available LEGO bricks to open up new paths, then break them apart and re-build them again to open up another! And another! During Blaster Battles, use your surroundings as cover to stand against the First Order.

I look forward to it, I love the humour used in the games, and the play is always good for all the family. I also look forward to the builds and blaster battles! All the fun of smashing up LEGO without the clearing up!

The graphics on this look incredible!! Crisp and clear enough to hold up to other current-gen games but still retaining the classic Lego game style. Can't wait to pick this one up.

Graphics look great and it sounds like a lot of fun. But it seems like there's a LOT of LEGO games out now... Avengers literally just came out, Dimensions still has a bunch of packs to be released this year, and Worlds is probably going to go to a full release this year.

Will it be released on PC?

Nice! Looking forward to some kylo Ren temper tantrums in the games!

Yeah I probably won't play the game, but I'll watch the cutscenes because they are funny.

By in Poland,

I am not following the games but after seeing this trailer...
Let's say I like the visuals but there are a lot of things that irks me:
Cartoony toast and clock, Kyloren saber is different (better), Sweat is water instead of printing...

Ehh We all know it will be hit and smash game with your favorite LEGO characters once again, with barrely any creative stuff.

By in United States,

I for one am looking forward to it, and echo the hope that it will be available on PC.
However, this just seems like the Hobbit game all over again -- What about the rest of the sequel trilogy? Will they make new games as the new movies come out, or is Episode VII just a one-shot deal?

By in Netherlands,

i had hoped for a ghost busters video-game because of the new movie that's coming. i think this game would be great but i still hope a game where you can play episode 6, 7 and 8

the new ghostbusters movie will be bad,.... (Even feminists think its gonna be bad.)
Star wars is still going strong!!

Very exciting! Now, if only I had a console to play it on... curse you, original Wii!

By in United States,

I was just wondering a couple of days ago if something like this was going to happen, though I figured they would wait until after the other two episodes of the trilogy were released. I am a little concerned whether there is enough content to flesh out a full game without it feeling like they are trying too hard. I'm currently playing LEGO Avengers (and some Dimensions) and I have to say that though it is fun, it is not as solid as LEGO Star Wars II: OT or some of the other IP LEGO games (I wonder if this was some nafarious plan by Warner Brothers since they own Travelers Tale now ??).

We shall see.

Over on gamestop.com only the $70 deluxe edition comes with the Finn polybag, but onlyon the PS4 and Xbox one. Hopefully it makes it to the other systems.

noooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo , lego has to launch a complete saga , no only a movie

That trailer was really hilarious. Can't wait for this!

I was beginning to wonder when, exactly, we would get a LEGO version of TFA. Now I know. xD

By in United Kingdom,

There has to be a collection of all three released eventually, surely. Given all the other Lego games have been multiple films (aside the Lego movie I think?) it seems a bit bold to ask people to fork out £40 three times to get the whole story. Still haven't forgiven them for the Hobbit fiasco... this might be the end of my buying Lego games.

I like the look of this but knowing my luck the Finn polybag won't be available with the game for the console I have - still on PS3 :-D

@henry there's one single reason why they won't wait for the new trilogy to be released before basing a game on the 3 movies: money. It's going to be about 4 years before the trilogy is complete, so they definitely won't wait that long.

Don't forget, Amazon Prime provides 20% off videogame pre-orders.

By in Canada,

Will it be released in ps3?

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

no, no, that's not true,

Gravatar

^And how so? I saw that link, and PS3 is shown on it.

By in Puerto Rico,

As I have said on other sites I hope Tt does indeed deliver the other two movies (or a mega pack with the 9 films) unlike The Hobbit.

Gravatar
By in United States,

I hope it doesn't use actual voices for the characters.

I want that piece Rey is wearing. The headwrap with the goggles up, face exposed. Like her buildable action figure.

Nice! It will be released too on xbox360. I don't play a lot of games nowadays, but perhaps I will buy this game too, as I enjoyed the LOTR & Hobbit, as well as the Batman game I bought in the past, and it is fun to play together on a lazy rainy Sunday afternoon.
And I definitely want to have the Finn trooper minifig, although I suppose it depends on how expensive the game will be, because no way am I willing to spend a fortune on it. Someone on this thread mentioned a deluxe version for $70, to me that is just ridiculous. I believe the maximum I ever paid for an xbox360 game was €40, all the other ones I own, I usually bought for much less.
Anyway thanks for the heads-up!

@The Big Legoski
The $70 version includes all future downloadable content and the Finn minifigure - that's worth the $10 over the regular $60 price. In the US at least if you order on Amazon Prime it's a 20% discount through 2 weeks after the release date, so that drops it to $56 for the deluxe. Does Amazon.nl provide that discount as well?

By in Singapore,

I pray that this is the Star Wars game I've finally waited for. Battlefront is an utter disappointment.

Gravatar
By in United States,

The MOST important detail from this game is the redesign of the Resistance X-wing's Canons. Hopefully they include an official design for the standard Black Squadron TIE fighter and a more accurate portrayal of Kylo Ren's Shuttle.

Yay finally Lego Star Wars games are back, I've been waiting 5 years for a new one! :D

However one thing does annoy me: "The game will also feature exclusive playable content that bridges the story gap between Star Wars Episode VI: Return of the Jedi and Star Wars: The Force Awakens". I know that Disney wants to explain what happened between ROTJ and TFA, but I don't think using a Lego game is the best medium to explain it.

Still I'll be buying this straight away, despite the fact that it will likely be re-released with episode 8 and 9 in several years time.

Gravatar
By in Australia,

i guess there will be DLC's for when the upcoming movies are released?

Gravatar
By in United States,

I wish the games had kept up with sillier cheats after cutting it off with the very first one. No more teacup guns or broom swords. And no more stormtroopers randomly in swimming trunks.

The existence of old television batman sound effect bursts is pretty great though, so maybe they'll bring something absurd back in.

Also, I wish they'd make a customizer that's not worthless.

Gravatar
By in United States,

It would be very sad if they just had levels for The Force Awakens. It kind of ended in a cliff hanger.

Gravatar
By in Puerto Rico,

The scene with the Millenium Falcon at the end makes me want to buy that set more than ever before!

Gravatar
By in Japan,

@jmjt4:Agreed.It's already been a problem that TT's lego games are all too alike recently.LEGO World is something different but there still need to be something else.

Gravatar
By in Ireland,

I think they should've waited until the trilogy had ended, but OK, let's get this game. I hope the Blaster Battles will be like the invasions in LEGO Star Wars III The Clone Wars. I loved those.
