LEGO brand store to open in the centre of Paris
Posted by Huw,
A new LEGO store is opening at 101 Rue Berger, a stone's thrown from The Louvre, on the 5th of April.
You can read all about it in French here, or see what a hash Google translate has made of the text after the break.
LEGO NEW STORE IN FORUM DES HALLES IN PARIS!
APRIL 5, 2016, LEGO celebrate PARIS IN HIS 1st STORE PHARE IN THE HEART OF THE CAPITAL!
On the occasion of the opening of the LEGO Store in the new space of the Canopy at Forum des Halles in Paris, the capital and LEGO celebrate French culture through unique creations, specially designed for the event. Famous confectioners through iconic creative mode, a painter and a famous writer, all will, for the first time reconstructed in LEGO brick statues. These four buildings XXL, assembled in Europe will need thousands of bricks and hundreds of hours of work in order to live magical moments and unforgettable LEGO.
The LEGO Store Paris Les Halles present all the numerous ranges, the latest news and exclusive products and limited edition!

Limited edition sets that i will most likely have to buy from a scalper on ebay? Oh good, I was not looking forward to buy the new lego airport and gas station or anything.
The translation sounds perfect if you read it in Yoda's voice. :-)
There are no limited edition sets associated with this store opening, so sleep well little panda. :)
Also, wow, Google Translate is really something.
"Phare" means "lighthouse", so I'm guessing a "magasin phare" is a "lighthouse store", a showcase store, a major beacon to the world of LEGO.
And still not a single Lego Store in Poland :<
Given the location that store will almost certainly have a markup over typical RRP like some of the NYC stores.
^^ I suspect the new brand store model will be available on the first day.
They need to put one of these near me. The closest LEGO Store to me is 264 miles away. :(
I live in the 4th-largest city in my state, and we have no LEGO Store, no Toys R Us, and only one dedicated toy store which gets sets in hilariously late and at ridiculous prices.
I had heard they were planning to open a flagship store in Brussels later this year. I hope this wasn't a re-hashed rumour about the Paris store!
Hah! I wasn't going to continue reding until Huw convinced me with the google translate mentioning, comedy gold!!!
Bonjour monsier Unikitty!
5th of April at 10:00, i must be there :-)
Ugh, I was one year too early in my visit to Europe. :(
And when in Spain?
« Magasin phare » is the equivalent of flagship store.
I went to a LEGO store in the outskirts of Paris a couple of weeks before Christmas a few years ago. It was fine except for the fact that they were dangerously low on stock with lots of empty shelf space. Here's hoping they don't have the same problem in the central Paris store.
Anyway, here's my translation of the press release. I have used some licence to make it sound OK in English, so it isn't a word for word translation.
NEW LEGO STORE AT THE FORUM DES HALLES, PARIS!

Come see the great new home of the brick, creativity and construction!
Further information to follow at LEGO.com/stores
Store opening hours: Monday to Sunday, 10.00am to 8.00pm
And still not a single store on the entire Australian continent. It's okay LEGO, I didn't even want to get any store-exclusive sets, or go to any of the events, or be able to peruse the pick-a-brick wall... [sulking intensifies]
@Huw: Les Halles where the store will be opened is a shopping centre located a bit further to the east (a good ten minutes walk) away from The Louvre. Looks like the map info shown on the LEGO website is not accurately configured. To view the correct spot you have to enter "101 Porte Berger" into Google Maps.
I must say I am spoiled for LEGO stores near me. I have one 5 minutes drive from my house and if I drive about 25 minutes I could hit 3 more stores.
I hope they lower the free shipping threshold for those without that convenience
Worth a visit for anyone in the area to see if they have any unique merchandise. LEGO's Rockefeller Center location stocks Statue of Liberty minfigure refrigerator magnets for the tourist crowd. No more unique NYC polybags, unfortunately.
I'd be much happier with a store in Portugal (Lisbon or somewhere else) or even a store anywhere around Madrid... I wouldn't mind having something with exclusives, pick-a-brick and much more.... But hey, let me start thinking about booking a trip to Paris...
And no LEGO store in the Netherlands, the nearest store for me is more than 60miles (90 km) away in Belgium.
Will there be an opening special gift on the 5th of april?
Nearest LEGO Store for me is ... Legoland Malaysia? Does that even count as a store?! Nearest *actual* store is half a planet away ... :-(
@CCC - hilarious xD!!!!!
There were rumours at Melbourne's recent Brickvention that a LEGO shop would be opening in Chadstone in Melbourne. No more details unfortunately and no idea if the rumour has any truth to it!
For those of you from US, Spain, Poland & Australia, please be grateful that LEGO S&H is available to your country. For us here, only few LEGO Certified Shop available in 2 main states and 1 Legoland in 1 state in whole Malaysia. I'm unfortunately from the state without any of those shops and need to pay hefty sums to import from overseas.
Are there usually some giweaways on the opening days? Or it's better wait for grand opening weekend? I'm planning a trip to Paris and want to choose the better day...
