10,000 likes on Facebook: win a set of CMF S15
Posted by Huw,
Today we have reached a significant milestone on social media: the Brickset page on Facebook now has 10,000 likes following a huge spike last week.
To celebrate this achievement we are giving away a complete set of Collectable Minifigures series 15. All you have to do to enter is like our page and this post on Facebook. Everyone that does so before 00:01 GMT on Saturday will be entered into the draw. Anyone (who can use Facebook) can enter and we will ship them anywhere in the world.
Let's see if we can get up to 11,000 or more likes by then!
You can view a graph showing recent like activity after the break.

Update: to avoid violation of Facebook's terms of service we cannot ask you to share the post (although you are welcome to do so) so instead, please simply like the page and the post. Anyone who has already shared it will still be entered into the draw.

Nghhh, and just when my Facebook abstinence was going so well! XD
Oh well, congratulations on the likes, Brickset!
Finally something cool where i can join too! :)
I believe that those shares (on personal profiles and friends' profiles) must be set to "public" for you to see them. Unless you're friends with that person (or their friends).
Having said this... congratulations!
I recently read that asking people to share a status/post in order to enter a drawing is not allowed by Facebook? (Doesn't look like it's being enforced though, as every page seems to do it)

(See point III.E.3.)
Well, it looks like the new social media presence is working. Congrats!
Discriminating against people that don't "do" Facebook. Nice.
^ So, by that reasoning, running a contest on Brickset is discriminating against those that don't "do" Brickset?
Deephorse, it's hardly discrimination. It's entirely your choice whether you 'do' Facebook. No one is stopping you!
I for one don't do Facebook, so when things are only for people on SM, it seems very unfair.
Congrats!
^ Given that this contest is especially for celebrating 10,000 likes on Facebook, it makes sense. Brickset offers other ways for you to win stuff than just this competition. And if you really want to enter so much, why not create an account to do so?
@Ephseb, thanks for that link. I wasn't aware of that restriction.
I appreciate being in charge of my own privacy, a whole lot more than I am willing to sell out my own personal details, my friends, events and places I've been to and will go to, the products I like and what not to Facebook.
So unfortunately I have will do without the rather tiny chance at getting a prize in exchange for a (bought, not earned) 'like'.
I like(d) it!
People really need to learn what real discrimination is.
'I'm discriminated against because I didn't win!'
I mean really.
Do we have to do all three shares, or just one of the three?
People are seriously calling "discrimination" on this?! WOW.
I'm sure the hearts of people who have suffered at the hands of real discrimination bleed for you...
shared!!!!
Good luck and all the best to the winners!
Does the post have to be set to "public" to have a chance of winning? Most of my FB posts are set to my own "sharing" list of 200 or so people - but would you be able to see that and include that in the entries?
Hmmm....right around the time Brickset's new Social Media Manager started. Huw, I think she deserves a pay raise.
How bout you delete this article and make a new one saying everyone who comments "enter me" or something gets entered. Since it is against Facebook's policy.
@The Green Brick Giant: Nobody said they were being discriminated against because they didn't win.
But I agree, this is in no way discrimination, like TheBrickPal said, it is celebrating 10,000 likes on Facebook, so it makes sense that the competition involves Facebook.
^^ You can now enter by liking the page and post. Sharing no longer necessary,
Pagan I was making a joke about how not everything is discrimination.
Some people need to brush up on what "discrimination" means.
congrats Huw
how do you enter?
Congrats for the milestone, Brickset!
@The Green Brick Giant: Oh right :)
There are a lot of whinging, over-entitled people on this site. Don't "do" facebook? Don't enter the competition then, it wasn't aimed at you. Geniuses.
Like and share!
Congrats and good luck with the continued success!
People are complaining because the whole social media thing is being forced upon us by running contests like this. If you want to enter, you have to be on social media, to be on social media you have to sign your "cent-i-pad" agreement. Many of us would prefer our freedoms vs. a chance for some CMF's, but it doesnt mean we would like this to change and we could be included. Luckily we still have the freedom to point this out.
Great! Liked! Shared!
And again, facebook seems to bring out the best in people. ;-)
Nearing 12,000. :)
your almost at 12k I thought the contest was going to end at 11k? are you just going until a certain end date or something because my friend wants to enter as well but I am not sure when the contest closes. Thanks for any reply
We'll end it last thing Friday and reveal the winner over the weekend.
Had to laugh 'No Facebook because I don't want to sell my freedom! I'll win the war against the man because the CIA can't track my love for Hello Kitty cosplay and conspiracy theories because I don't have Facebook!' . As you are online already and probably NOT routing your visits to Brickset, etc. via TOR and a dozen Russian proxies, I guess that ship sailed already didn't it? Regardless of targeting advertising towards you, I found FB to be a really good tool for connecting to others in the global Lego community.
@Delatron: looks like that was directed at me! Oh man, evidently I could really not keep my Hello Kitty Cosplay a secret!
Anyhow, yes, I do take care that I keep a low footprint on the net, at home, at work and on my mobile phone, which means using adblockers (muBlock) and anti-tracking software (Ghostery) and proxies if and when necessary. Of course it's impossible to be entirely under the internet radar, but giving all your info away in one piecemeal package like you do on Facebook is a bridge to far for me. More power to those people who do use it, though!
@alldarker - Not directed at you particularly, I was just giggling at a few of the responses, written on the net, about not giving away data on the net! I can understand the urge for privacy and admire your precautions, I suspect not everyone who moans about facebook is quite so diligent. And honestly, while I don't want my bank details or anything spreading around the net, I don't need to hide anything in my day-to-day life so I don't worry too much if I'm being targeted to buy more rum or Lego based on my previous purchases!
You don't need to give away Lego to get my like, I love Brickset! But not on Facebook, I can't stand it and "deleted" my account (as much as its possible) years ago. Good luck though! :-)
i entered how do you contact me if i win?
I always miss out due to my refusal to join Facebook , but anyway congratulations 10,000 is a big milestone and it proves how popular lego is so well done
Im fine for Facebook to have some info, if it means targeted advertising and more savings for me im all for it, more money for LEGO!
@imin - i assume they will send you a Facebook message :)
Okay thanks Cmdr_Roy !
I totally understand those who don't use Facebook, because I didn't for a long time and only now use it as a way to organize things with friends and stay in the loop. But I cannot understand them whining about this contest. The contest exists because of Facebook. Without it, it would not be happening.
So who won?
The winner, Alan Craig, was announced and contacted on Facebook.
