And the winners are...
Posted by Huw,
After much deliberation by eight judges including Justin Ramsden aided by Adam Grabowski, who was the main designer of the official Mighty Micro sets, I can now announce the winner.
We used our usual method for judging: we whittled down the hundreds of entries on Flickr and Instagram to a shortlist of sixteen. Each judge then chose five which were scored appropriately (most favourite one = 5 points etc.) and the scores were then added together.
So, in first place, with 22 points, is Mr. Brickman with this very cute duck for The Penguin.
The cuteness and clean design won the judges over, three of whom chose it as their favourite. Fairy Bricks Kev wrote "While there have been numerous ducks including ones by LEGO themselves this version has so much charm." and DrDave said "relatively simple, but cute, well-realised and fun"
In second place, with 18 points, is Thomas W with a seahorse for Aquaman:
"Good use of elements and a nice build in its own right" said DrDave, "So much character in so few parts" said Kev.
In third place, with 16 points, is Duncan Lindbo with Dark Aster, Ronan the Accuser's personal ship.
It was the wings that caught the judges' attention, constructed using 2x2 tiles with one stud.
One highly commended entry which was my personal favourite and which narrowly missed out on 3rd place, LEGO 7 with a very clever transforming phonebox for Superman:
Justin said of the judging, "There were some absolutely fantastic entries in the shortlist and it was a tough decision to choose the best."
Mr. Brickman wins the Classic TV Series Batcave, Thomas W will receive series 15 minifigs AND a set of Disney ones too. Duncan Lindbo will receive 76047 Black Panther Pursuit or another set of his choosing of a similar value. I'll rustle up a prize for you LEGO7, too! I'll be in touch via flickr to get your addresses.
Congratulations to the winners and thank you to everyone that entered. It was by far our most successful competition, so thanks also to CapnRex101 for coming up with the idea. Finally, thanks to LEGO's ARP team for providing 1st and 2nd place prizes.

Congrats to the winners and all that entered. There were some excellent builds.
Congratulations to the winners. Very very nice designs!!!
Is it possible to see the shortlist? That would be very interesting.
Yes, I don't see why not: http://brickset.com/_temp/mightymicros.htm
That shortlist is awesome !
Having seen the shortlist, my personal favourite is the transforming phone booth: brilliant concept, great execution!
Congratulations to the winners, they're all awesome, I think the phone-box idea is great "thinking outside the box"....I'll get my coat
I like the seahorse and Ronan's dark aster a lot. I was predicting that Ronan's would win and that black panther one would win too.
@Huw Thank you for the shortlist.
It's really awesome!!!
Huw, may I ask was my entry not considered due to the fact it was based on a character that already had an official Mighty Micro even though it was alternative variant? Initially I thought it would've been cool if I had created a vehicle based on the main prize of the contest. I stuck with the idea and I totally missed that aspect of the rules, someone pointed it out to me once I had posted my entry.
Batman, Classic TV Series - Batmobile:

Either way it was an exicting contest and I plan to create more Mighty Micros throughout the year.
All entries on flickr and Instagram were considered. We discounted very few, just those that didn't abide by the few rules we specified. Yours was fine.
Congratulations to the winners!
I have to say, I don't envy the judge's job, as this competition was inundated with brilliant entries, as illustrated by the quality of the shortlist and the fact that my personal favourite, CM4Sci's original Deadpool Unicorn, didn't even make it that far!
I'm gutted I couldn't find the time to make an entry myself, but in fairness I doubt I could have created anything as inspired as these... Special mentions from me also for tankm's Joker and Riddler models and Jeff McGaha's Poison Ivy!
Great work all round.
That shortlist is great - we have some really talented builders around here. My personal favourite of the lot is the Seahorse, with Thor's Hammer a close second.
Congratulations. My favorite was Aquaman by Thomas W but each one is wonderfully extravagant! I was only browsing through numerous entries but I remember each one of the 16 you chose.
I really enjoyed this competition, my son now has thirteen unique X-Men, Teen Titan and DC / Marvel Mighty Micros sets to play with! I knew I would not win when I seen some of the amazing entries on Flikr & Instagram but I had immense fun trying! My only problem now is I have no mini wheels left for other builds! Please do another competition like this in the near future as it was great to take part!
I like the first Thor one and Ronin's the best, out of the ones on the shortlist.
The Aquaman one is totally awesome, as is Ronin's. The Thor tank, the Poison Ivy one, and especially the Squirrel Girl one are absolutely hilarious, this was a great contest!
Congrats to the winners!
I can't say I'm a fan of the duck ones, they didn't really stand out to me and seemed a little uninspired since the Penguin riding a duck is a pretty common theme, but I'd have to say that out of all of the duck entries Mr Brickman's was my favorite. Real simple, but packed with charm.
I love the aquaman seahorse, if I had to pick a favorite out of all the entries, that might be it. The only reason it wouldn't be is because it's a tad big as a mighty micro.
All in all, fantastic entries and a great contest! I hope we see a lot more in the future. Monthly or bimonthly maybe?
Congratulations to the winners.
Great competition with some excellent entries.
On a side note I'm struggling to work out which wheel hub Mr Brickman used to attach the 1x1 round tiles with.
Can anyone help me identify the element used please?
Excellent trio (or quad-rio) of winners! The duck is a worthy champion.
Congratulations to the winners! It was excellent fun entering this competition:)
^^^ I think they are just the right internal diameter to be able to stuff a tile in them, although there have been wheels with studs on them in the past.
I think I took the line in the rules: "The model must follow the design ethos of the Mighty Micros range" a little to literally and could have added a few more elements to my entires.
To me the duck (1), Thor's Hammer (15) and the Gorilla Grodd (16) are very funny.
What do you know, one of my entries won! Congratulations to the other winners, too! Judging this competition can't have been easy, there were a lot of awesome entries.
Congrats to the winners!
Though I must say Brother Brain is right, these aren't really MICRO. Still, they're pretty cool builds!
More contests! I loved entering these, I was super surprised my Deadpool Unicorn even got that far. I should probably do some better photography if I had a better camera.
Congratulations to the winners! By the way, I was a runner-up in the last competition (the banner)
yet I still have not received anything in the mail... Does it take a long time or have I been overlooked?
Awesome, well done to everybody.
^^^^^^^ Thanks Huw.
@ToaRickBrick, overlooked! See my reply on flickr! I don't read flickr mail very often :-)
Incredible entries, and very satisfying choice of winners! Well done everyone (judges included)!
Well done everyone, and congrats winners! This was the first contest I have entered in years and it was a blast to participate. I look forward to many more.
My favorites were the phone booth and the seahorse. The others are good too, though.
I'm with Aquaman.
That Gorilla Grodd bananamobile didn't get enough love.
Can someone please give me the instructions for that Aquaman one please please please?!?!?!?!?!
Thanks a lot guys. And also big thanks to the hole Brickset Team for that fantastic contest.
@ellbob12 I hope I will find the time to make an instruction or a least a breakdown shot. I will post it on my flickr stream.
Regards Thomas W. ;o)
Fun contest! Congrats to the winners! Well done to those that took part and thanks to the judges for putting in the time to pick the winners! A talented bunch of folks here on Bricskset! Great set of finalists!
These are so much better than what is being produced in the line. Something akin to that seahorse in concept is what the Dimensions Aquaman set needed, too.
@Huw alright! Thank you very much for your consideration! Again great job to everyone in this competition! Very impressive models!
Congratulations all around! Some mighty fine designs on display.
When I first glimpsed the Rubber Ducky on the main page, I thought it was friggin' adorable! :)
I like the shaping on the Aquaman Seahorse a lot.
As an avid watcher of the Guardians Of The Galaxy cartoon series, I really appreciate the Dark Aster.
And I love the photography on the Magneto entry.
Good stuff!
I REALLY enjoyed this contest, and I found it relatively simple to work on a design once I had a base. This at least helped me try different techniques that I never thought of using before. I hope for more contests this year, like maybe some Angry Birds, City, Mixels, or even Rogue One building challenges. Even if you guys don't do one, Brickset always has something different than any other database, so I am thankful either way. Thanks!
Future competition idea: build a vignette (with a limited piece count)!
These are fantastic, as are the others on the shortlist - must've been a very tricky competition to judge!
I was totally gonna make a thor one but my parts were in storage and I didn't have the time... I never thought to make it a tank, though well done!
I loved this competition! Please continue to do more :)
And to the winners, congrats!
I am just amazed at the quality of those. Please for the next contest can there be a "Brickset community winner" from our votes?
Wow, great entries. Congrats to the winners, some great talent clearly shown here. =)
Is there somewhere where I can see all of the entries?
Fantastic competition and lucky prizes! Keep it up Brickset!
Congratulations everyone! My personal fave was a Scarecrow with the harvester on the front of his micro mini. But the finalist all did such a great job. So many clever builds!
Wow..that really impressed me. I m BIG fan of ronan accuser one. Similarity to his ship.. just wow.. and duck is very nice too!
Congrats winners!
