Creator magazine available in South Korea

As you know, we are big fans of LEGO magazines here at Brickset, so we were particularly interested to learn about one that we didn't know about last week.

It's simply called Creator and is published in South Korea, in Korean. That's a bit of an obstacle for many of us at the moment but the team has big plans.

Dongwon Lee, who works on the magazine, tells us that its mission is to spread MOC culture from across the world, and support those that create MOCs by sharing information in a high quality magazine that appeals to LEGO fans and non-fans alike.

There are plans to translate the magazine into English and Chinese in near future, and if that's something you would be interested in helping with then he would be pleased to hear from you.

There have been five issues published already which you can purchase online at creatormg.com. Sample pages from the latest issue can be seen after the break.

It certainly looks like it could give the English-language magazines a run for their money once it has been translated.

By in United States,

I have three issues of the magazine and they are definitely high quality. The articles also seem very interesting, even if I can't read them. BTW, that's me with the Taj. Dongwon reached out to do an interview, because apparently the mini Taj is very popular in Asia, and a number of people claimed it as their own. He did a lengthy interview with me that ended up being eight pages (the other page featured here with the Little Prince is also from the interview), plus another ten pages of LDD instructions for the Taj. It was a fun process to work with Dongwon, and he was always super nice and accommodating. I was told that I'm the first non-Asian builder they featured. The LEGO hobby has some interesting twists and turns. :D

By in United States,

Thanks, speshy! The Taj was made for a micro-building contest at Toys'N'Bricks five years ago. You had to rebuild an official LEGO set in micro-scale with the maximum of 200 pieces. It was a fun challenge, and the Taj won first place. I learned quite a bit about entering LEGO contests. Later I slightly altered my original entry with a bit more pieces, and I still have it. :)

By in United States,

@ BrickBlogger - I'm interested in the magazine, too. How did you order your issues? I checked the website but it's in Korean. If you don't mind my asking, how much is per issue with shipping cost to the US? If the price is reasonable, I'd like to order all (5) issues, unless they have a subscription to the magazine. Thanks in advance for any information you can provide.

Lastly, how many pages per issue?

@afol sf, I got the issues because they were doing an interview with me. They were a gift. The last issue is 160 pages long. The other two I have are slightly less. I have asked my contact if it would be possible to subscribe from other countries and he said the following:

Currently from their website only Korean users can subscribe. People who want to subscribe from other countries should get in touch by email. They will deliver the magazines to their final destination, but overseas shipping charge will be extra. They do have some subscribes in the USA already, and they receive the magazine about a week after it is released in Korea. Subscription cost: $36 (include tax and shipping) - 4 magazines per year (Spring, Summer, Autumn, and Winter) – Korea, China, Hong Kong, Japan, U.S.A. Individual Cost: $7.5 (exclude tax and shipping).

I can get you in touch with my contact if you like. Just send me a PM. Huw should also have the contact info.

@theBrickBlogger - helpful information! Thank you so much for your response to my inquiries. That is a very reasonable subscription cost. I already subscribe to the Blocks, Bricks and Brick Culture magazines in the UK. This will be a great addition.

Please hook me up with your contact so I can start my subscription. Thanks again!
