Hulk vs. Red Hulk revealed!

Posted by ,

Another new Super Heroes set has been revealed today. Hulk vs. Red Hulk will be available to purchase in 2017 but will be shown at San Diego Comic-Con this month and includes some great figures: Hulk, Red Hulk, She-Hulk and Red She-Hulk.

The set contains 375 pieces and is priced at $59.99 in the US, so will probably cost £49.99 in the UK. That seems rather expensive to me but a number of large elements are included as well as a couple of Bigfigs which goes some way to justify the price.

I think the Marvel Super Heroes range has been brilliant this year and am therefore disappointed by this mediocre offering, although the selection of figures is impressive. Share your thoughts on the set in the comments below.

Figures look great. Set looks horrible.

With it being a Hulk vs Hulk set, why not make it a playset where kids can smash the area around them?

Gravatar
By in United States,

I wonder if this is for a movie tie-in or a just because set or a Marvel team-up effort??

Gravatar
By in United States,

A set that doesn't have Batman or Spiderman?!?!

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

i buy it just for the green hulk and she hulk the vehicles look like badly made hotwheels or matchbox cars for a 5 yr old to bash together,

i hope to see a deadpool or fantastic four lego set next year lego too..

By in United States,

Yuck.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Probably won't be buying...

Gravatar
By in United States,

Nice figures. Set is silly, but looks like children will have fun thing with.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Why does the hulk need a vehicle?
Should have done a general ross(red hulks alter ego) figure and a military car, a small destructable building and the figures
included

Gravatar
By in France,

It seems that Hulk has green hair. Good improvement.
I'm eager to have a closer look on the Red Hulk.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Almost 5 years after he hulk is first made in Lego and we finally get Red Hulk!... In a pointless and boring looking set

Gravatar
By in United States,

She-Hulk is a must-buy for me, even if via the secondary market.

Now bring on Squirrel Girl!

Gravatar
By in United States,

I think it looks decent... although to be honest, I would have preferred a smashable military base with General Ross if they were to make a Hulk-themed set. Still, my brother (the target audience) thinks it looks awesome, and clearly they've done their job with it them.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Those purple wheels look like they belong in a Joker set....

Gravatar
By in United States,

This has to be based off of the cartoons right? It clearly isn't a movie tie-in and since only two X-men sets have been made directly off of comics, then it has to be cartoon related. Right?

Gravatar
By in United States,

Love the classic looking Hulk!

Gravatar
By in United States,

I'll be getting this set just for the figures. Don't know why they would give the Hulks vehicles? Military vehicles would have made sense.

Gravatar
By in United States,

I really like the vehicles and the figures in this set, maybe its because I am a kid at heart and can see all the fun that can be had smashing the cars and using the stud shooters, definitely a buy for me.

Gravatar
By in Puerto Rico,

This is clearly aimed at kids (make yourself heard at Lego that you are only interested in the figures by not buying the set, even Red Hulk looks mediocre, a re colored Hulk). I was not aware of the existence of Red She-Hulk until I saw her here.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Awesome figs! Weak models though. I will certainly pick this up.

Gravatar
By in Canada,

Either these are giant mighty micros or the Lego group has given up even trying.

Gravatar
By in Germany,

Looks like something Hasbro would release. Having said that, I like that they're going for all audiences with the Marvel line. Helicarrier, Mighty Micros, Dr. Strange playset, this..
This set is not for me but there is a good chance they might give us a She-Hulk keyring now one day..

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Looks like a DC set!

Gravatar
By in Netherlands,

Lego will not make military vehicles!

Although some futuristic vehicles come close, lego will never make something that explicitly identifies itself as a military vehicle. They won't make a set with the army to fight the hulk.

That said, this is indeed a strange set. But it isn't the first time vehicles were provided for characters that don't need them in the Super Heroes theme.

Also, those large (dark?)purple space wheels are gorgeous!

Gravatar
By in United States,

First Marvel set in a while that just looks really, really awful. I'll probably pick it up on sale eventually (since I do want the minifigures), but the set just looks AWFUL.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Reminds me of "Hulk and the agents of S.M.A.S.H.". With the Hulk-mobiles!! Now, I want a blue Hulk and Skaar.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Am I the only one who thinks this is real pricey?

Gravatar
By in Sweden,

She-hulk and Red She-hulk looks great, the Hulk bigfig and the both vehicles is in a mess. Red Hulk looks quite good, as he appears for the first time, but 60 dollars is way too much for a set worser than 75098 Assault on Hoth. Apparently it costs even more in Sweden, so I won´t pick it up.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Well, that just seems like a weird creative decision. We already have a dedicated theme of superheroes in cars, so why dedicate an actual set to that same premise on steroids? And if they HAD to do this, why two Hulks? There are few characters I can think of who are less conducive to driving than a hulk. Hulks smash, they don't drag race.

Gravatar
By in United States,

RAWR! HULK(S) SMASH!

Gravatar
By in United States,

It's exciting to see two big figs in one set. Has that ever happened before? I would love to have a red Hulk, but I don't like the vehicles at all. Like mentioned before, this looks like megs mighty micros or something. A smash building would have been perfect!

Gravatar
By in Netherlands,

@ra226, sets that include bigfigs are always more expensive than they look. I own the Hulkbuster set, and it did not feel like good value. The reason for it is that bigfigs feel like large minifigures but are actually way more expensive to make than regular minifigures. And this set has two!

So the price is understandable. The rest of the set... not so much.

Although I must say the set does not LOOK all that awful. I've seen sets that look way more technic-ish and empty than these vehicles. The new Killer Croc vehicle is such an example.
The concept on the other hand... I know they want to sell toys, but a smashable building like the MODOK set would have been way more interesting and fitting than these.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

If you like huge space wheels, you're in luck! If you like a set that has any sense to it, maybe not. I'm surprised at the lack of "it looks childish - but it's a kid's toy and that's the target audience - but couldn't they have made something just a bit better?" comment threads. They certainly seem likely for a set as divisive as this.

I somehow knew Red Hulk and She Hulk would pop up at some point after appearing in the Lego Marvel Superheroes game a couple of years ago. But even in that game there was no sign of a Red-She Hulk. I'd like to think I know my Marvel comics but I have to admit I have no idea who she is.

Gravatar
By in United States,

What is that price.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

I'm glad I have no interest in superheroes - the characters in each new set released seem to get more and more lame each time

Gravatar
By in United States,

The set looks pretty bad, but those figs look awesome. Well, the classic Hulk is kind of 'meh', but still.

While the given vehicles are pretty terrible, I'm sure you could scavenge them into something cool.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Will be picking this up for red hulk and she hulk only. hulk looks more lime this time which I am glad that we r getting another version of him but to be honest the vehicles look like pure trash. I will just salvage them for parts most likely.

Gravatar
By in Australia,

This is definitely a Bricklink job. The set looks awful, and I already paid too much for one Hulk bigfig ... but a red Hulk, and She-Hulk and the red She-Hulk? I'm onboard.

Gravatar
By in New Zealand,

I agree that is totally looks like an oversized Mighty Micro... it remind me of the toy ranges I had as a kid that would start out with realistic cars and then gradually evolve into wacky fantastical cars...

Definitely one for the kids, not for me to judge if I'm not the target audience :)

Gravatar
By in United States,

The whole set looks pretty terrible, but I'll be snapping up She-Hulk on Bricklink ASAP.

Gravatar
By in United States,

I don't collect super hero sets. The hulk vehicle has some nice dark green parts, which should be cheap according to everyone just wanting the figs. I will get those on Bricklink. So I am 100% for this set.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Pass.

Gravatar
By in Finland,

I think we need to see more pictures of this set to judge it. The vehicles might look better when larger and more clear photos of them are available.

Gravatar
By in Netherlands,

Ninjago mixed with Nexo Knights mixed with Marvel Mixed with Mighty Micros,..........
For me a big No,....

What somebody else said, they should have made something that the Hulk can smash and a general Ross with daughter minifigure in a army Jeep of sorts

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

That's horrible especially after how well they went this year. The Spiderman bridge and ghost rider sets are two of my favorite super heroes sets

Gravatar
By in Norway,

this set is very disappointing! why is there always a big weird vehicle in every superhero set lego makes?

Gravatar
By in United States,

No,Nope, Never, the vehicles might have some useful parts like the stud shooters (I like them personally), but the Hulk's might be useful, She-Hulk and Red Hulk have been missing for a while. I don't understand the Red She-Hulk, I haven't heard of her. The Banner Hulk looks like a mighty micro.

Gravatar
By in United States,

This... hm.... I like that it's got pretty much the whole Hulk family. Red She-Hulk is a surprising, yet welcome inclusion considering how obscure she is. The vehicles look like dumb fun, but I think I'll wait for a good sale on this one.

Gravatar
By in Canada,

I can't say that the vehicles do anything at all for me. I am, however, excited about the minifigures. I totally agree with a previous poster that it would be much better as a set where the hulks are smashing down buildings or something. The cars strike me as ridiculous - in the way that I've always found superhero vehicles silly (other than the Batmobile). I mean, why would The Flash need a car? Or Spiderman?

Gravatar
By in United States,

Just pretend the vehicles are clown cars and the Ringmaster or the Circus of Crime is behind this brawl....

Gravatar
By in United States,

@binnekamp- What about the side-build in Battle of Smallville?

Love the figs, hate the build! Unfortunately, I'm not going to get this, but might just BrickLink the figs.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Yes finally we have Red Hulk a newer Hulk and She Hulks, I love this set and hopefully I get it :) and the builds are meh I R8 9\10

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

I wonder if those vehicles are designed to be torn apart. I mean not regular deconstruction, but like that car that came with the Hulk minifig, or in the spider-man bridge battle; something with intentionally limited or weak connections so you can have a superstrong character appear to pull it in half. given we've got four hulks in this set it would make sense to have something like that

Gravatar
By in United States,

^Hopefully that's the case, because 4 Hulks - Smashing = Zero Fun.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Not convinced by selection of minifigures when they are all variations on a theme. Vehicles too juniorised so all in all an easy pass.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Even though they vehicles look very silly and made for kids, I while probably pick this set up. The two she hulk minifigures look amazing and are exclusive as well as the two hulk bug figs. They are probably the only reason I will get the set but I will see what I can do with the vehicles

Gravatar
By in United States,

the figures are fantastic in my opinion. i especially like the new b.b hulk and the pieces used for she hulk. The builds are bad on screen (pls be better in real life). It's too big and will not fit in with any other marvel set. The pieces are good with the minifig pieces, the purple wheels, and the stickered or printed canisters. However the price is probably the worst thing with this marvel set. 60 dollars is way too high for young people which this set is targeted for. I have gotten almost every single marvel figure ever. These 4 are good but i am disappointing with lego for making the rest of this set. The marvel line was good last year but so far, marvel is off with a disappointing start.

btw lego if your going to make guardians of the galaxy and she hulk stuff, at least make one good fantastic four set with the 4 original members in their usual suits and doctor doom or silver surfer minifigs. I mean it was the first big hit comic for marvel anyway.

Gravatar
By in United States,

The only reason I would buy this set is for the Red-Hulk BigFig.

Gravatar
By in Netherlands,

@Bricklunch, what about these vehicles is juniorised? Juniorisation means big parts with a very limited purpose are used somewhat excessively, taking away from the building experience. Look up Jack Stone for example.
Seriously, the only big limited purpose parts I can see are perhaps the wheels and that dark tan excavator bucket. We don't know about the rest of the build, so why would we already know if it was juniorised?
By the way, if you instead meant that the models are wacky looking and look to be aimed towards kids, then I somewhat agree.

@101Dalek, you are absolutely right! I forgot about that one. I guess jeeps are okay or something. Tanks or anything that would put up a fight with the hulk(s?) would probably still be a no-no. After all, colonel Hardy got a futuristic gun instead of anything more realistic. It wouldn't be surprising if they took off all cannons of the vehicles and put flick fires in or something. But that would still have been a better set than this.

On a related note, a theme that comes very close to real military vehicles sometimes is Dino Attack. If you want something for the Hulk to fight, you can track down a 7477 T-1 Typhoon, which would make an excellent foe for the Hulk!

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

^ or just mod the Wookiee Gunship into an attack helicopter without applying the stickers. That could be an easy military force against the Hulk(s)

Gravatar
By in United States,

For those of you who don't know: Red She-Hulk is the Daughter of Gen. Ross (AKA Red Hulk).
Whereas She-Hulk is Jennifer Walters who is related to the Hulk.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Set looks 5/10...figs look 9/10 (disappointed by h
ulk)

Gravatar
By in United States,

The vehicles don't look great, and it'd be nice to have a vanilla General Ross or Betty Ross, especially in the wake of Civil War bringing the former back to relevance... but this is a great minifig selection, three of which I never thought LEGO would touch, so I'm going to choose to be critical but mostly pleased. I've found seven out of every ten Super Heroes sets is a crap build with great minifigs anyhow. (With exceptions, but still.)

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Really pleased to see no iron man or Spider-Man in the set. Perhaps Lego are becoming a little more confident?

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Im fine with the figures and red hulk truck but th green hulk truck is deffently mighty megas

Gravatar
By in United States,

@Binnekamp They don't release modern real-world military sets, but there's no rule against them releasing military stuff in a fictional theme - we even got Nazis in the Indiana Jones theme (although there were no swastikas). Like everyone else has said, a set with a military vehicle or base to be smashed would be much cooler (and logical) than the included cars.

Gravatar
By in United States,

This set looks AWESOME! How could you dislike this thing? New Hulk, She-Hulks, AND Red Hulk? Best set EVER in my opinion.

Gravatar
By in United States,

I like it, and I get the appeal of Red Hulk but honestly I'd prefer Joe Fixit.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Wow. Really underwhelming creatively. It's like one of the old Toy Biz figure play sets, but not one of the cool ones.

Gravatar
By in Germany,

At least it comes with a brick separator...

Gravatar
By in United States,

The red Hulk is the best part.
