Two LEGO Batman Movie sets revealed
Posted by CapnRex101,
LEGO has just published images of two sets that will be released next year to tie in with The LEGO Batman Movie: The Batmobile and Joker’s Notorious Lowrider.
You will find larger images of them both along with some analysis after the break...
70905 The Batmobile:
This set includes Batman, Robin, Man-Bat and the Kabuki Twins, a pair of Japanese assassins who were employed by The Penguin in the 2004 animated series: The Batman. Man-Bat looks to be just about identical to the minifigure which appeared in 76011 Man-Bat Attack while Batman features a new belt attachment and Robin wears a brand new hair piece which is completed with a pair of goggles. The Kabuki Twins are an odd inclusion as they have not been seen in any Batman media since the 2004 animated series but it will be interesting to see how they are used in the upcoming film.
The Batmobile itself is unusual, introducing red accents alongside the traditional black colour scheme of the vehicle, but is highly detailed and is even decorated with the words "the speedwagon" beside the cockpit! I would estimate that this set might be priced at around $59.99 or £49.99.
70906 The Joker's Notorious Lowrider:
The Joker's Notorious Lowrider is the smaller of the two sets but is just as impressive. Three minifigures are included and they are all highly detailed, with extremely elaborate hair pieces and printing on the sides of the legs in the case of Batgirl and Harley Quinn. There looks to be some kind of suspension on the underside as a Technic mechanism is visible behind each wheel.
I would estimate that this set might be priced at around $49.99 or £39.99. That may seem rather expensive but the vehicle appears to be only slightly smaller than 75828 Ecto-1 & 2 so I think it might be a little more expensive than many would anticipate.
Let us know what you think of the sets in the comments below.

I'm lovin' the old school Robin . . . and the vehicles look very fun!
I hope that trans-yellow windshield pieces as sticker on it instead of print. I want that so bad for Neo Classic Space MOCs =)
Carrie Kelly Robin then? Probably pass on that Batmobile set, but the Joker low rider is a true can't miss!!!
These look really cool. I expect the film to be great with these kind of vehicles
Also... Built the 66 Batcave last night, and am convinced no Robin minifig will top that one. But all this multi-faceted printing is truly impressive.
Is that an actual utility belt piece for Batman? Is that new?
*drools because of all the purple*
seriously though, the parts in the joker car... a purple injection is always oh so welcome. I just hope its reasonably priced. Also Harley's hair piece is pretty cool. And batgirl's utility belt... I hope to see it in a more useful colour some day, because that's a really cool part
*edit* oh, batman has one too.
The front of the batmobile weirds me out a little though. The front wheels are on ratchet joints, it looks like they're meant to be rotated 180 degrees into one big front wheel, but I'm not convinced there's enough space to do that.
All in all, hyped for the joker car, not convinced by the batmobile though
Those cars are so ridiculous and awesome. So are the minifigs... I dunno what's up with Robin's goggles, but it looks funny. My little brother absolutely loves these things, so I think they've succeeded. :D
kabuki twins! the joker car is too funny.
Glad to see that Batman utility belt is on more than one set, Robin has an eyeglass/hair piece that has a lot of potential on both MOCS and future sets. Harley Quinn hair is awesome as is her arm printing (Joker face looks fun and plain). Those ninja assassins that are tagging with Man-Bat are like the Penguin aides from one of the Batman shows.
Penguin's Kabuki Twins from The Batman cartoon, that's a very nice surprise. Carrie Kelly Robin is also unexpected. This movie might be a total mash-up of Batman characters from different eras...I love that idea.
Something about Joker's face just screams cosplayer or even a fake-Joker stand-in to me. Batgirl in her purple and yellow costume is great. New hair pieces for Harley (and I think Joker is sporting a new piece too) are always welcomed.
I can't wait to see more.
Goggles on Robin look like they are part of the hair piece, but they look great. The wheels on the batmobile might rotate forward, but then also into a hover mode like the BTTF Delorean. I think this will be very cool. Those weird twins always creep me out whenever they show up in the Batman show but I can't wait to get them as minifigs. I think both will have a bunch of surprises.
I am LOVING that Batgirl Minifigure!
Do we know the prices of these? I'm assuming the Joker's Lowrider will be around $20-30, and the Batmobile will be about $50. Either way, I'm really excited about this new Batmobile. I'm not as sold on the Joker set, although I do love the fact that Harley Quinn has roller blades
The minifigures are stunning, more overpriced and HUGELY oversized vehicles. No thanks. I'm not spending $30-$40 on a purple parts pack.
Too much bat not enough mobile..
I have a sneaky suspicion that both vehicles transform into other vehicles, like car-to-boat-to-jet kinda transformations - calling it first!
I think that Robin is just a goofy look for Dick Grayson, according to the information released so far. I've heard the movie will be referencing pretty much every version of Batman, so maybe there will be a reference to her, but I don't think that's actually her.
These two sets are just great, and hopefully mean that 2017 will mean a huge range of new DC Lego sets, fingers crossed that we will see the Riddler, Bane and that spectacular brick built Clayface that we saw in the trailer announced soon so I can keep up the hype train.
So this is Lego's first pimpmobile?
@ResIpsaLoquitur
Nope the Space Brickdaddy from SP3 had one as well!
Great car, great figs. Will be mine!
Not exactly... there's the Lunar Limo from Space Police III.
OMG a lowrider!! Are you kidding me?!?!?! That's AWESOME!!
I'm gonna need at least 2 so I can totally revamp my Pimp Vic Viper! :D
@The Green Brick Giant: Have we heard anything about the prices, or are you just extrapolating based on previous sets of this sort?
@ResIpsaLoquitur: Not if you count http://brickset.com/sets/5984-1/Lunar-Limo
Anyway, love the new sets and minifigures — very creative! Well, besides Man-Bat, who's doesn't look very different at all from the previous Man-Bat minifigure.
My bet is Joker's lowrider, that spare wheel on the back, when turned will make the front end pop up and down.
Its been confirmed that this Robin is a very young Dick Grayson.
Apparently in the movie, Batman accidentally adopts Robin at a charity auction.
That said, if he's Dick Grayson, the brown hair makes no sense. Here I was hoping that was Carrie Kelley too.
Wow! These sets look absolutely fantastic! These are some of the most detailed minifigures I have ever seen!
Need at least 2 of the jokers pimp mobile to make a stretch version
@s1yfa You beat me to it! That was what my guess for the Technic mechanism on Joker's lowrider was as well.
It looks to me as if Man-Bat is simply photo-shopped into the picture from the last set, he doesn't look different or wacky at all.
It also looks as if I'll be forking over cash for the other twelve sets if they're all this good. And also, aren't more JL characters supposed to be in this movie?
not digging the joker minifig but that set looks amazing harley and batgirl look fantastic i love the new-52ish look for her and the lowrider looks awesome love the seats and the bat mobile looks pretty good it has awesome part usage and the robin minifig reminds me of karin kelly robin which is cool and the kabuki twins are an interesting choice but i like it the batman belt accessory is neat and i can see it being used else where it would look good on that shield agent minfig
oh and the gold chicken defiantly the best part of the set!
@Aegis2000 JL characters could be in a cmf series, if they do one for this movie like they did for the lego movie
ARGHHH!!!!!!!!! WHERE IS ARES?!?!?!!?!?!??!?!!?!?!!?!?!?........................
Hate that joker, he is definitely a fake.
Everything else looks great. Can't wait for this movie.
This is the batman I like, not that dark and dingy one.
These look amazing! I am definitely getting the Joke lowrider!
Looks like I need to get a new job (in order to afford all the stuff LEGO keeps putting out!) The vehicles are definitely ridiculous and wacky and I think that's why I like them so much. They really pulled out all the stops on Harley, didn't they? Dual molded and printed hair, printed bat, side arm and leg printing, wow! What does the gun Robin is holding say?
Holy Crud These Look Awesome I Want That Batgirl!!!!!!!!!
I hope there are some odd-numbered dark purple tiles (e.g., 1x1, 1x3, 1x5, etc.) in the Joker car. Lego has only produced even-numbered tile pieces and it makes it difficult to create some MOCs using dark purple.
The The Joker's Notorious Lowrider is absolutely awesome! Not very keen on batman/DC in general but this ride is high up on my must-have list.
Love the lowrider and the minifigs in it. As for the batmobile, the only positive I can see in that set is a new trans-yellow piece. Otherwise, awful.
Also gutted that LEGO still didn't make a hairpiece with clip points that you can attach the normal visor / ski-goggles / diving mask to.
I lost it when I saw these photos! Those mini figures are amazing! So happy to get another version of batgirl, she looks superb! My only complaint is it looks like her face was printed on a black or dark purple piece like this years batman figures, which annoys me a bit because it changes their skin tones to a darker color than the characters these figures are referencing from comics. Its not a big deal though, just a minor bit of nitpicking as she still looks incredible to me. That being said These two sets have me SO excited for this wave of sets. The fact that we are getting two obscure penguin henchmen in the first reveal really hypes me for this range of sets (plus a new variant of joker, which is great considering we almost always get the same figure of him). The builds look great too, especially the jokers vehicle. Lego, just take my money.
Definitely getting these sets. The new Robin, Joker, Batgirl, and Harley Quinn look amazing. And that Batman looks pretty cool. Really like the vehicles. I think the Batmobile will be $40-$50 and Joker's Notorious Lowrider will probably be $20-$30
Everything showcased so far about Robin makes it look like it's going to be Carrie Kelly, but the character has been cast as Dick Greyson. I don't get the androgyny of the figure at all since the hair is almost exactly like her's and Greyson never wore Goggles AFAIK.
The sets look great but I'm weirded out about the steps they've taken with Robin.
loving jokers car, and the yvonne craig 1966 version of batgirl,
You could make the Bowser Mobile from Super Mario 3D World with all those purple and gold parts included in the Lowrider.
both of them look great! But I will probably get the joker lowrider before the batmobile
Likely a bit on the expensive side, but I like the looks, especially the lowrider
These sets are fantastic! The Joker's car is amazing--I certainly hope it has some mechanism for the suspension. So wanting a Batgirl minifig. And I so cannot wait for the movie any longer!
@ Joefish in cmf series 16 the spy has a new hairpiece, which has clip points in the sides, so you can attach a visor or goggles
I love the build of the Lowrider, but none of the other parts of the sets look right. Robin appears to be once again a brainless twelve-year-old, we have the exact same Man-Bat with the exact same accessory from the last set with Man-Bat, and we have the Kabuki Twins which are completely out-of-place. But I suppose new minifigures are always good. Frankly, Joker looks horrible, but Harley looks okay, I suppose. I also don't know why there would be a mould of Batgirl's cowl with the hair flowing back, either. Batman has a utility belt now, which is nice to have, and so does Batgirl. At least we got a 1966 Batgirl, albeit in the wrong set, would have gone great with the 1966 Batcave that was released earlier this year.
Kinda disappointed by the no-pants Robin. Robin's had pants since the early '90s, when they were already long overdue! Still gonna see and love this movie and buy sets from it though... of course :)
From this twitter post it looks like the set number for the Jokers Lowrider will be 70906

Anyone know if the trans-yellow windscreen in the Batmobile is a new piece or whether its an existing mold?
Considering how he is voiced by Michael Cera, I doubt that Robin is Carrie Kelly.
Cool these sets look lit.
Perhaps the spare wheel on the back of the low rider can be turned to raise/lower the technic arms used for the car's suspension.
Well at least that is what I would do...
Here's hoping we get the beautiful burnt two-face from the trailer, It's been too long since the last version.
Look like pretty cool sets! Really looking forward to the movie. I'm digging those twins too.
Batmobile is 581 pieces including stud-shooters and will cost $60. Multi-directional wheels adjust into race mode, monster truck mode, and parallel-parking mode.
Joker Limo is 433 pieces including spring-loaded shooters and will cost $50. Has a bouncing suspension.
The Batmobile is so huge yet it can only carry one figure which is wasteful and disappointing. Joker's lowrider on the other hand is awesome.
Mixed feelings on the minifigures. I do wish licensed LEGO movies could keep to MOSTLY existing parts for minifigures. You'll need new parts here and there, sure, but when the new minifigures all seem to highlight new parts, it begins to feel inauthentic to me.
Look forward to getting the Joker set.
From the look of it "The Speedwagon" converts into a VTOL vehicle (wheels hinge sideways and rotating down)
@JVM: I think one part of the reason for so many unique hair and headgear pieces in The LEGO Movie and The LEGO Batman Movie is to adhere to that classic rule of animated character design: a character should be totally recognizable from their silhouette alone. Seeing as the minifigure design tends to be the same or close to the same from character to character, hair and headgear pieces are the main way to make a minifigure's silhouette stand out.
Holy Smokes Batman! These are utterly BRILLIANT!!
The sets look fun, but I don't know if I can justify those prices. The lowrider looks tiny, yet somehow is over 400 pieces? Plus only 3 figures...not worth $50 to me. The figures are insanely detailed which is overkill. Too much detail and it starts to not look lego. Although I would love that batgirl.
The batmobile barely had anything new to it. I know nothing of those twins and robins hair and printing would be New, but nothing else is telling me to buy that set.
But with how crazy these sets are, the rest the line up will surely have something will want. I don't know how I will be able afford these and other sets I want.
Loving that Joker car.
Bat-thing is $60 and Joker car is $50.
That's outrageous. Hopefully these go on sale as often as The LEGO Movie sets did.
That Joker ride for fiddy is way too much. At a minimum they would have to include a Snoop Dogg minifig!
Anyone know which Robin will be used? We know it is DEFINITELY not Carrie, but do we think it will be Grayson, Tim Drake, or Damian Wayne? Judging from the backstory, I'd say a really young Grayson, which stinks as I was hoping for a Nightwing also in the movie.
Very cool. Now Man-Bat is not exclusive to one set anymore. :(
I'm not a fan of these sets. They look too much like mash ups from several different Batman series. Harley and Robin strike me as very cartoony. The Joker looks like he is from the 1960s Batman show, and the Kabuki Twins look like they could have been in the Tim Burton Batman movies. It all feels very incoherent.
