Netflix picks up new Elves series for 2017
Posted by TheBrickPal,From Deadline:
"LEGO Elves picks up with its hero character Emily Jones as she returns through the portal to Elvendale with her little sister, Sophie. After charming many of the Elves upon her arrival, Sophie is taken by the cruel Goblin King and his evil minions. Emily and her cast of Elf friends head deep into a magical forest to save her sister and free Goblin Village from its tyrannical king. Adding to the existing line-up of Netflix original series from The LEGO Group (LEGO Bionicle: The Journey to One and LEGO Friends: The Power of Friendship), LEGO Elves will launch worldwide on Netflix in 2017 with 8 new episodes."
What do you think? I wonder if it will differ in style from the Elves specials that have been broadcasted on Disney Channel...

Cool!
Might have to try and check this series out. I suppose its geared for a younger audience but being a fan of the Lego theme I think I might take a gander.
I wonder if this means we'll see a shorter version of the minidoll for Sophie, similar to the short legs for child minifigs.
Hmmm... I wonder if the sets accompanying such theme will have any interesting new 'goblin' molds or if we'll be stuck with mini-doll goblins... (assuming there will be sets associated with it).
@tallblocktoo: Some of the previous episodes that aired on Disney Channel have been released on YouTube if you want to check them out. The first episode "Unite the Magic" had some pretty awkward animation, but the animation quality has improved greatly since then. The shorter webisodes are also very funny and creative, and are great for lower-stakes storytelling.

Episode 4 "Down a Dark Path" hasn't been released on YouTube yet, unfortunately.
I've loved the LEGO Elves series so far and am excited that there will be eight new episodes next year, since that's twice what we've had so far in the theme's first two years! Netflix will probably be a much better home for the series than Disney Channel has been, since not only did Disney Channel hardly promote the episodes at all, they also premiered all four of them early in the morning on Sundays, hardly the best time to draw in a lot of viewers. I'm guessing that this decision also means that the decision to move LEGO Friends from Disney Channel to Netflix earlier this year was a success.
I am hoping is the animation style stays fairly consistent and that they don't swap it for 3D CGI or anything like that. The 2D animation is quite charming and distinctive, and also has greatly increased in quality as I've mentioned above.
The story blurb for next year also sounds really exciting… some definite "Outside Over There"/"Labyrinth" vibes. The idea of not just rescuing Sophie but also freeing the Goblin Village from the Goblin King's rule also suggests some good narrative complexity instead of just "Elves are good/Goblins are evil".
Funny thing Anchir - Elves are on nickelodeon in Poland while DIsney only has Lego Star Wars shorts, and Freemakers soon. I wonder where this episodes will air then...
I'm also happy to see ELves growing in Lore - we learn their world just like Emily does!
Was netflix ever going to go past season three on ninjago?
Oh dear, introducing a younger sister at this stage may be a mistake - previously we were led to believe that Emily Jones and the four elves made up some sort of magical 'set'.
I probably won't watch this, but it is a good reminder that I should probably get Netflix already.
Sophie sounds like the babe.
What babe? The babe with the power.
What power? The power of voodoo!
@alarthame: I can't imagine why they wouldn't! Season 3 (the 2014 story) went on Netflix in November of last year, so maybe seasons 4 and 5 (the 2015 story) will be added next month. I wish it weren't such a long wait but I guess maybe LEGO is afraid of cutting into the DVD sales. :/
This is interesting news... if you have Netflix. Although this is a very minor interest that I would only want to check out, they seem to have a lot of the things I'm interested in but can't watch without a subscription. I already pay for a Sky Package which is expensive enough as it is.
However, the Goblin storyline sounds really intriguing. I always wondered why there weren't any 'bad guys' in the first couple of waves and this would make the theme potentially even more unisex, though I didn't think of it as a girls only theme already.
Really, all I can do is to wonder how cool these sets are going to be! A magical forest? A Goblin village? I can't wait!
Well played Shotgunchipmunk, well played!
