Bulldozer Break-In

©2017 LEGO Group

The moment is finally here! Official 2017 set images have emerged - beginning with City police, which we have added to the database.

Keep in mind that there are still lots more City pictures to come; particularly of the 'Great Vehicles' range. Of course, other themes are on the way as well.

By in Serbia,

The only one that I'm even mildly interested in is Tow Truck recovery. The rest are just rehashes :/

Gravatar
By in Hungary,

For me the red motorcycle with the sidecar is the most interesting part/detail in the whole line, but it's an ok theme for the target audience.

Gravatar
By in United States,

All the bad guys stole their vehicles from 'red-cars-r-us'

Gravatar
By in United States,

When will the 2017 Star Wars sets pictures be released?

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

I'm loving that new hat/hair piece for the female cops, but at the same time I'm not quite sure how to feel about the multicolored dungarees that the criminals have. Anyway, it looks like a pretty decent wave.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Nothing for me in this wave, but it'll give me the chance to catch up on the City sets I still want from this year.

Gravatar
By in Puerto Rico,

Both the Police Starter Set and the Bulldozer Breakdown I here's me due to the important inclusion of an ATM and a Bank that is price attainable for me.

Gravatar
By in Netherlands,

Nice to see that the police cars/trucks are numbered, staring with 01 :)

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

These seem like nicely made sets, though (thankfully for my bank balance) I don't feel like I need any of them.

Gravatar
By in Slovenia,

The mobile command is looking good. :)

Gravatar
By in United States,

I agree generally weak. I was pretty excited for the next City wave too.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Was thinking the red colour scheme for all the criminals vehicles was a bit tedious but looking back criminals have been driving predominantly red vehicles for years- including using a red wheelbarrow to haul the loot away in set 60006. The lack of an over-arching theme for the police next year is both a blessing and a curse. Some sets look a bit lacking in imagination & generic but there are a few I like. The bulldozer & sidecar both appeal to me.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Not a fan of any of those. Thought the last couple of full police stations were better. The only part of any of them I really like is the pair of white motor bikes. The less stuff I'm interested in for 2017 the better as my Lego addiction is really starting to get out of control.

Gravatar
By in Canada,

There are few in there I may purchase but generally have avoided City Police so far. I do like buying starter sets just to get the figures to populate the town though.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Not much for me next year that I don't already have or could easily build, but I do like the new mudguards on the police vehicle in the Bulldozer Break-In set.

Gravatar
By in United States,

No more shiny chrome gold bars/tiles? I like the bank, but I still favor the modern styled bank from the City line a few years ago.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Surprised by how many more female characters there are in this wave - both cops and criminals (I do like that new "police hat with female hair" piece).

Gravatar
By in Canada,

The fishing boat looks great but some of the police sets look "juniorized."

Gravatar
By in United States,

@TheBrickPal, When do you think the Lego Friends and Creator sets images will be revealed? I can't wait for Brickset to review them! :)

Gravatar
By in United States,

^ Beats me! I'm guessing fairly soon, if this news is anything to go by.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Bulldozer break- in is awesome.

Gravatar
By in United States,

No gangster squad... so sad.

Gravatar
By in Italy,

I had low expectations, and still I am disappointed.
Uninspiring and uninspired sets.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

so time for a new Police Station.
dont think it looks that grate my self.
think the Police Station's from before 2012 look better.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Yes, these sets are just weak rehashes of previous City Police sets, but so are the complaints about them. This is what LEGO does--and they keep selling these sets to 8-year-olds who probably love them. 8-year-olds can't remember the sets these remind us of. And by the time LEGO brings out the next wave of rehashes, those 8-year-olds will be 12 and no longer into LEGO.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Aside from the starter sets which are cheap, my wallet will be safe for a while. Bunch of boring "reimagined" clones from previous recent sets. You can do better than that, Lego.

Gravatar
By in United States,

*gag* That police station and Mobile Command Center are awful! Way too juniorized. Everything else isn't too bad except for the bank and auto transport sets; those look pretty good.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

The builds are pretty much what I would have expected for City police - nothing particularly exciting or special but good play value. The minifigures are the stars of the show for me with new pieces and some nice head and torso prints.

Gravatar
By in United States,

those mobile command centers get noticeably smaller with each iteration. price isn't going down though

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

What's Danish for 'Déja vu'?

Gravatar
By in Puerto Rico,

I just noticed something in Bulldozer Breakout: there is a new female police hair/cap, the Police have new wheel guards and the Helicopter has a new rotor in the back. Did I miss anything?

Gravatar
By in Netherlands,

The rotor Isn't new, the other Parts are

Gravatar
By in United States,

More police sets? Sigh ... But that bulldozer is really cool, though.

Gravatar
By in United States,

*sigh* do we really need another Police station? Do we really? Ugh fine, over all, pretty boring, but the car heist looks interesting. the bulldozer with the bank heist seems like a fun addition.

Gravatar
By in United States,

I'm trying so hard to contain my joy, I literally want to buy all of these. :-)

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

yes these are pretty much re-issues of previous sets but you have to assume that Lego know what they are doing with this line. As regards the 'juniorisation' of some of them, perhaps the target market is generally younger for these sets while the older kids prefer the fantasy and action themes? My son was massively into Police stuff for the last year but he's now turning 5 and prefers Ninjago, SW, Superheroes etc. It's a little sad that he's moved on but we try and bring in the robbers as Supervillain minions.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Every three years we get a new police station, a boat, a big robbery scene and some other misc. big set for City. 2017, 2014, 2011, 2008, 2005 (with a re-release of the police station in 2006), 2002 (a re-release of 1998, so a 4 year gap and no new police station!), 1996, 1993.... every one of those years had a Police Station released.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

The police officer on the right in High-speed Chase looks a lot like Chase McCain, possibly to help boost interest for Lego City Undercover in Lego Dimensions.

Gravatar
By in France,

Police.....again....-_-

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Not impressed with any of the police sets. Looks like I will have money to spend on something else! More Batman Movie sets for example! :)

Gravatar
By in Australia,

OhioBricker and joemmo have it exactly right. Lego mainly sells to large retailers. The retailers sell to parents. The parents buy sets for 5-10 year olds. The kids don't care about rehashes and previous waves. They want to play with Lego cops and robbers in Lego towns. That's where Lego has made a chunk of its money for years, and people who complain on the internet aren't changing that. Also there's a bulldozer breaking into a bank! I want that one!!

Gravatar
By in United States,

I'm digging the bulldozer build, and the bank set in general. The rest just seem like sub-par generic rehashes. Probably won't buy any of them though.

Gravatar
By in United States,

These look good. Just because the overall police theme is overrated doesn't mean that the sets individually are overrated. Remembering that the target audience is kids and parents looking for an action-packed toy for their children for endless hours of play, these look like they can deliver.

Also remembering that one of The LEGO Group's top selling LEGO sets last year was a police station, I honestly cannot complain about the statistics if that is what the rest of the world desired. Let's see if this police station will deliver the same or better quality of play than the previous one.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Wow, lots of complaints here. I'm not sure what folks were expecting as the City Police is consistently a "made for play" staple of the Lego brand. It all looks pretty cool for the target audience; my friends son is 8 and is always ecstatic about this line. I consider City Police to be a staple and to some degree a place holder in the City line. It's just something that Lego will likely always sell and I would imagine is very hard to do much with creatively that hasn't been done before. The only thing I could think of is a modular police station. TLG needs to break down and do that one of these days! I do like the bulldozer break in tho!

Gravatar
By in United States,

Most don't really appeal to me, but I do like the Auto Transport Heist. (especially the red motorcycle w/ sidecar).

However, why is the transporter "Police"? I think it would be much nicer for it to be some LEGO City company, as it would fit in well with a city layout. Personally, I've never seen a police vehicle transporter, but have seen plenty of them from various companies.

Gravatar
By in United States,

I have the original mobile command center and I would take that over this any day.

Gravatar
By in United States,

I've seen some of the others but unfortunately they are marked confidential... :( These look really nice though...

Gravatar
By in Australia,

I have two boys 8 & 4 and they don't even look at the City sets in the shops any more - they're interested in Superheroes, Ninjago, Nexo Knights, Star Wars etc. I'm not sure who the target audience is for these rehashes of rehashes if not them but creatively the City series looks pretty dead to me and I think even kids might be picking up on that.

Gravatar
By in Australia,

I like these, there are some nice parts in there and I especially like some of the new minifig bits. Going to add some of these to my collection for sure (and probably pick up a bunch of the parts on Bricks & Pieces as well)

Gravatar
By in Australia,

Far too many police sets.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Weren't we supposed to get a gangster squad instead of a stupid ATV for the billionth time?

Gravatar
By in United States,

I'm not really into city that much. Most sets are the same every year, but the thing that really annoys me is those boring ATV's!

Gravatar
By in United States,

So it looks like that fishing boat has two of the old school space stantions in white... maybe? It's hard to make out.

I don't get the complaints. LEGO does Police all the time because, get this, there's always a new set of kids coming of age!

I think that bank robbery with the bulldozer is pretty creative. I don't recall ever seeing that before. Would be the slowest chase ever, though.

Gravatar
By in Slovakia,

Stagnation. Nearly everything all over again... Any new ideas? Zoo? Parc? Shopping center? Restaurant/pub? Hotel? University/school/nursery? Bridge? Children playground? Museum? TV Station/trasmitter? Fit center? Stadium? Graveyard? Postal&delivery services? Hospital&healthcare (dentist, optics, massage...)? Energy workers (gas, electricity, water...)? Spa? Tens of others?

Gravatar
By in Canada,

Probably going to get the bank set, looks decent so far

Gravatar
By in United States,

Thankfully my city is already patrolled by the 2014/2015 police lineup. If I need more, I'll just get more of those on Bricklink.

These...are too juniorized for me. Good for 8yr old kids, but not in my city.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

I can see the reasoning for both sides of the deja vu and target audience argument, and have no problem with TLG gradually re-releasing police. However, I do feel like there's always room to add some new interest and the swamp/forest/harbour police were better for that. I feel like this version has gone back to basics, but not really for better or worse.

Having said that though, I do really like some of the design flourishes such as the tow truck with 2 bikes, and the car transporter. I'm particularly impressed by the bank, because it actually includes a civilian building - virtually unheard of most of the time in the City theme!

Gravatar
By in United States,

Why can't Lego make something like a hotel, amusement park, or school?

Gravatar
By in United States,

Hope to see more "great vehicles" in 2017. The police car in the police station set looks great!

@ImagineCo125. I don't understand why LEGO doesn't make those in City either. Apparently all the buildings in the LEGO City are police stations and fire stations, and 20% of the population is criminals. All the things you mentioned though are coincidentally in the LEGO Friends theme this year. So I guess those things didn't really sell well in the City theme. City (and Town before it) has had a lot of subthemes over the years, recent ones being Volcano Exploration, et cetera. I think straying too far from the formula of police and firefighters doesn't make a lot of money, and that's why we see these rehashes every few years.

Gravatar
By in United States,

I feel like I'm in a minority of people on here who actually LIKE most of these sets, although I have to admit that the starter set is rather dull and I am getting sick of ATVs and copters.

Gravatar
By in United States,

^^Looking at the list, there hasn't been any of those since the theme started in 2005. Maybe (my idea) is that they are too expensive (over $100 for each) to get a decent one going, and such a set isn't going to be in a winter wave, given the past history of winter Lego City releases.

Gravatar
By in United States,

@myscrnnm. Yeah, it seems lego City doesn't really strive to be realistic. After all, it is surrounded by a forest, swamp, volcano, and an arctic region. I just wish there would be more variety. I mean, it's a city that has more police stations than it does homes.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Looks too Juniorized, Understandable, but I thought "Only the best is good enough" (Unless you can rehash old crap and make a bunch of money off of it).
I Personally would love to have some remakes of some of the old diving set with 3-10 sharks, crabs, fish, rays, octopi, and a giant baseplate. I miss those old nameplates, they make relatively small sets seem huge.
I wish Lego would lay off Cops and Robbers and Firefighters for one year, kids will just by whatever other theme they put out. The reason that Artic Explorers, Divers, and Volcano Explorers didn't seem to go as well was, they seemed small for the price, they were competing against the ever so familiar police, and they were just seemed semi basic.
Oh well at the Modular Buildings haven't been affected by this problem..... yet.

Gravatar
By in Sweden,

Uninspired rehashes, but I'm sure kids will like this.

Gravatar
By in Australia,

At first glance, I thought the sets were just the same as the last time they did a police theme but after closer inspection, I began to notice subtle differences and small new features that really made me rethink about not buying any. Couple that with the fact that I didn't get any police sets from last time and I think I might just have to go and get a couple of the better ones.

Hey, where has the Gangster Squad set gone?

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Roll on the creator and technics

Gravatar
By in Austria,

The tow truck and police SUV have new mudguards, right? I dislike some design solutions... the helicopter proportions are really ugly... hopefully the coastguard will have a much better one. I like the Police Starter and Tow Truck Trouble best.

Gravatar
By in United States,

The budget for police in Lego City is out of control. We need to elect some new city councilors to get education spending in the budget and build new schools.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Tow truck - Cool
Transporter heist - Nice
Fishing boat - Like it, orange fish.
Red bike and sidecar - need
White dirtbike - need.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Pretty standard fare for a specific target audience really, nothing leaps out although the starter set looks OK for some nice figs and an ATM probably pick that up.

Gravatar
By in Czechia,

Not a bad stuff! I like that the sets are kinda more gender equal, and I have noticed, that most of the cars has the classic doors again!

I would not expect, that one of the best bulldozer we have seen will be in the police set.

Gravatar
By in Germany,

Boring. Sorry to be so harsh, but so far it's just boring, nothing new or innovative, only watered-down versions of things we had lots and lots of times already. Hope there'll be some more exciting sets as well soon.

Still no hospital, I guess...

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

So much crime in LEGOland.

Gravatar
By in United States,

I don't think it is the Police theme people are disappointed with - we all know that Police sets are a pillar of the City line. This is a pretty mundane line-up however. Hopefully the 2017 civilian stuff makes up for it.

Gravatar
By in New Zealand,

That Police Station is really slack.

Gravatar
By in Australia,

I really like the red bulldozer. It looks well detailed without being 100x bigger than it has to be like 60074 was.

Gravatar
By in Netherlands,

Another Year another Police Station. Seriously, how many Police Stations can you have? A city has so much more buildings than just a Police Station and a Fire department. I think the developers for Lego City should take a close look at the Friends series, they have a wide range of buildings. Shops caffees etc. Why not make a cute little affordable diner?

Gravatar
By in Germany,

While I am not interested at all in City police, I suspect Lego produces whatever sells...

Gravatar
By in New Zealand,

Ok, so the people defending this, you aren't taking into account the last couple of years where the police sets have been fantastic - Prison Island and the Swamp Police themes showed some real imagination and flair, like they were designed by someone who really enjoys the theme.

This wave all look like they were done to try and look like previous sets, but to save Lego money - very lazy. The police station and mobile transport look like versions of previous models with a focus on reducing the brickcounts as much as possible.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Chase McCain returns!

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Re: Red Cars - well, clearly there are so few civilians left in Legoland Town that all crimes the police investigate turn out to be perpetrated by firemen. Hence the red vehicles at every crime scene. Similarly, it's only the police that are setting all those fires.

Gravatar
By in United States,

All I want is a zoo and a news van.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Does anyone see on one of the boxes an exclusive Chase McCain minifigure? It could mean signs for another LEGO City Undercover.

Gravatar
By in United States,

^That theme is one upcoming for Dimensions, so that is the likely reason why. (and sorry, no likely Nintendo references lol)

Gravatar
By in Japan,

I am liking the way they tucked in the tires on the 4 wide cars. The new cruisers are not much to my liking for the moment since they seem a bit more stubby. Ill likely just end up with the bank though.

Also is that Chase in the High Speed chase set? The new Spirit looks OK but I wonder which vehicle is Chases's?

Gravatar
By in United States,

I'll consider collecting these but likely end up passing as I often do. I've always wanted some of the bigger police sets but almost always end up sending elsewhere in LEGO land.

Gravatar
By in Australia,

Like BrickMaestro I was amazed at the number of female characters in this wave: 13 out of 32 figures (~40%)appear to be specifically female. An amazing progression from 2011 when only 6 out of sixty four figures in CITY were female.

Gravatar
By in United States,

To those who are using the term "juniorized" to describe these: what do you think that term means?

@antsbull: Yet the general reaction to the past two years of sets have been: "MORE police? I guess it's good that it's a different location, but it's still such a rehash. Why doesn't Lego make other subthemes, etc."

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Is that yet another wheel arch design on the back of the robber's tow truck?

I agree with Japanbuilder that the 4-wide cruisers are much, much better with those narrower wheels tucked in under the arches.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

horrific selection of police sets. The entire range is just a rehash of old sets. The police station is just a repositioning of 60004. The command centre is truly awful. The early ones were so much better. Very glad my wallet will be spared this year.

Gravatar
By in Hungary,

Oh nooooooo! Police sets AGAIN ?!

Gravatar
By in Canada,

@Yellow: You say that as if it's a surprise?
