Blocks magazine rebels with a LEGO Star Wars celebration
Posted by Huw,The latest issue of Blocks goes on sale at all good stockists on Thursday, December 15.
Released on the same day as the latest movie, Rogue One, this issue is packed with exclusive Star Wars content. The rebellion starts with an interview with LEGO Star Wars Design Director Jens Kronvold Frederiksen, who talks about putting together an epic range for the new movie. There are reviews of the five Rogue One sets, followed by an AT-ST Anatomy – looking at how the latest release measures up.
The Mod Squad take on the LEGO AT-AT, transforming the famous walker into an AT-ACT from the new film. The Star Wars fun is rounded off by a specially commissioned series of images based on stills from the movie – along with a LEGO recreation of the movie poster, as a special alternative cover.
It isn’t all Star Wars of course, as the second mod this month sees the VW Beetle get a convertible conversion. Games Director James McLoughlin exclusively shares a behind-the-scenes look at bringing Ghostbusters to LEGO Dimensions. In Technique, Simon Pickard shares how to pattern your floors and demonstrates a use for the hemisphere piece from Jurassic World. With builds, reviews and news, it’s another month packed full of great LEGO content.

I wish these subs were more affordable. Would open it up to a lot more people!
The print price is way too high, in my opinion, if you live in the US. I signed up for the digital. Still not cheap, but much more reasonable.
^ With regard to this magazine, and Bricks and Bricks Culture, you have to remember they are produced in the UK. It's obvious that the shipping costs will be high to overseas.
However, Bricks will soon be available via a US distributor, see: http://brickset.com/article/25257/bricks-and-bricks-culture-are-coming-to-the-usa
I tried posting this comment 3 days ago on a different news article but no one responded so i am posting it here... it was on the star wars whats missing contest article "Are the pictures on the flickr page every entry or is that only some? Also i have the same question as @2cute4you Is it any 2017 set or just star wars? AND i have the same question as @CM4Sci is it one set or anything that adds up to $150?"
Actually, I was a little disappointed with this issue. I think you need to be a Star Wars fan to appreciate all the Star Wars set reviews and the Rogue One tie-ins. I am, but even for me the 11 pages of Star Wars images, specially commissioned or not, simply doesn't cut it. It screams filler as do the in-house full page ads.
Is there any reason why the rear cover advertising Rogue One - LEGO style of course - is printed upside down? Also anyone else's centre pages coming loose?
As usual the witty Brick Wife column strikes a cord in this household.
Okay, so what is the best LEGO magazine to get for a TFOL? Bricks or Blocks? And what is the difference?
MBJosh04, I think I saw another unrelated question for the Brickset folks on a different article too. You should use the contact form at the bottom of each page if you want to reach out to the "powers that be" here.
I thought it was a pretty good issue, but being a fan of Star Wars LEGO I suppose I would. A similar number of pages devoted to Elves or Friends would have had me grumbling! I quite liked some if those Rogue One photos, especially the hover tank one. Quite atmospheric.
My centre pages are not coming loose.
As for which magazine is best for a TFOL, I have no idea since my T-days are well behind me. I like them both and subscribe to both.
Hey Bbeck018. The main difference between the two is the Bricks magazine is the only LEGO themed publication which is lovingly created by AFOLs for the more mature builder who wants to improve their LEGO lifestyle wether its an AFOL TFOL or kids who want to build like AFOLS! It's a thick luxury publication which doesn't talk down to its readers and covers exclusive interviews with members of the LEGO team including designers, masterclasses, innovative techniques, exclusive articles, reviews, LEGO history and much much more!
