A chronological look at the LEGO Batmobile

Posted by ,

Ahead of the The LEGO Batman Movie opening in cinemas in Europe this weekend, UK insurance comparison service Confused.com has produced a cool infographic showing all the LEGO Batmobiles that have been produced since the first one in 2006.

Jamie, its creator, writes "The Batmobile is arguably one of the most iconic vehicles in TV and film, which makes it a perfect candidate for a LEGO makeover.

"This infographic takes a look at how the LEGO Batmobile has evolved from its debut in 2006, all the way up to the latest incarnation in 2017’s The LEGO Batman Movie. Polybags and SDCC promo sets have been excluded, as have the Juniors and Mighty Micros sets.

"It also looks at how much the discontinued LEGO Batmobile sets are worth today. If you’re lucky enough to have an Ultimate Collectors’ Edition from 2006, it’s now worth five times its original value!"

You can view it after the break or at Confused.com and if it's piqued your interest take a look at one showing the evolution of the Batmobile in films.

By in Denmark,

I really like this kind of historic presentation showing the evolution for a given subject.

@Huw nice to see that they have referenced brickset.com along side Lego for the source..

Slightly misleading. You show me where I can get a Joker's Ice Cream Surprise for £91.50!

By in United Kingdom,

Interesting... though they have the wrong versions of the minifigures shown for some sets...
I.e. Jokerland has the older versions of The Penguin and The Joker, same with the Lego Batman Movie has the old versions of Batman and Robin...

By in Australia,

I remember buying the very first Batmobile (7781) as soon as it came out. My favourite set of Bat-vehicles is still that very first line. I loved the original Batwing, too.

@WatfordScottyM, right... they are nearer £500 on BrickLink!

By in United States,

I got the first UCS on clearance for $20. Wish I had bought two now looking at that 2017 value. ;-)

Some of the minifigures are incorrect and as WatfordScottyM said the 2017 values are a bit misleading. Other than that it's a pretty awesome infographic!

Haha, most of the Batman minifigures are incorrect. Still, a pretty nice compilation. Out of all, I own three different Batmobiles (including UCS one). I wish I had got the UCS Tumbler...

There is a Batmobile missing. What about the SDCC Classic Batmobile? But then if you are going to do that one do you do the polybags and the Mighty Micro...

By in United States,

I still regret not getting 1-2 of the UCS Bat-mobile when TRU had them for $40. I honestly find it to be very ugly but the black parts alone.

Definitely a cool retrospective. Why IS the Joker's Ice Cream Surprise that expensive though?

No mention of the Bat-Pod, though given its rarity I can understand that. Still, if my house was on fire and I could only save one set, the Bat-Pod would likely be it, or in a tie with Cafe Corner.

That last Batmobile is listed with the wrong Robin but other than that it is a great list.

Granted these aren't USD prices, but I can estimate the conversion well enough that the prices seem a bit off from what I've seen also, but different markets/regions..

It is odd they didn't have updated figures on some of the sets considering they linked to brickset as a source (which would have quality photos of all of the figures).

The infographic as a whole is fun, but these few mistakes bring it down a bit for my own taste.
But I will say I have all of my favorite versions, so that is all that matters to me.

By in Germany,

got the UCS one for 40 euros back then...

By in France,

Love that article. My personal favourite is the kryptonite interception batmobile , because it's the less expensive

By in Australia,

I would love to see more of these for different Lego subjects. My favorite is the 60s batmobile. The show was a tad corny but the car is awesome and probably the best for play value as it seats both Batman and Robin.

Should I be proud that, with barely a glance my, 8yo son instantly exclaimed: "Hey those aren't the right minifigures!" Lol. legogeeks

In my collection I have the UCS Tumbler, the Kryptonite Interception Batmobile and the Riddler chase Batmobile. I like the UCS Tumbler the most.

(and yes the wrong minifigs thing bugs me too)
