Review: Series 17 females
Posted by Huw,
I've already taken a look at the butterfly girl and gourmet chef in previous reviews here and here so let's examine the other three female characters in series 17 collectable minifigs: dance instructor, elf girl and vet.
Dance Instructor
This minifig looks like she's walked straight off the set of a 1980's fitness video recording! Her leotard and leopard skin tights are an eye-watering sight!
I can't say I find this figure appealing but I do like her hairpiece, and the white 1x1 'nipple' piece on the top of her bottle is sure to be more useful than the existing colours it's made in.
Elf girl
I must admit, I thought there had been a lot of elves in CMF series but according to the tags (which may be incomplete) there hasn't been one since the male one in series 3 in 2011.
The print on her torso and skirt slope is stunning: highly detailed and printed in a metallic ink which isn't apparent from the photos.
She has bi-coloured arms, with the top half silver. Her hair is tied back with a beautiful metallic flower.
She's equipped with a sword and shield, which is also printed with metallic ink. Overall this is an excellent figure!
Veterinarian
This is the third medical professional CMF, the first two being the nurse in series 1 and surgeon in series 6.
She's attired in light aqua 'scrubs', with short sleeves, printed stethoscope and ID badge. Her 'bob' hairpiece in a medium-brown colour is new and looks great.
The rabbit is a new mould and is excellent, far better than the 'cute' ones in Friends sets. However this one is cute enough, what with the printed pink nose!
There's minimal but adequate printing on the back.
My only complaint about this figure is the paw print on the ID badge: without it she'd pass for a doctor, nurse or a vet.
Tomorrow I'll cast an eye over the remaining 6 figures.

Nice minifigures!
But wasn't there the Holiday Elf in series 11?
Wow the Vet's hair is not so different from Trendsetter's, which I do not mind at all! I like this one better.
Thanks for the minifig reviews! For the vet, I love her hairpiece and the cute little bunny. And the elf minifig is fantastic with the colors, I think.
I love all three of these! My daughter is going to love that vet!
These are my favorite three from this new series! All have stupendous hairdos, plus great detailed printing. Fingers crossed i'll get these from some blind bags.
Definitely need to get a Veterinarian or two, mainly for the bunny. I collect LEGO animal molds. I'll likely pass on the other two figures, though.
I love Vet hair, perfect for AGENT SCULLY!
Love the Vets hairpiece, I thought it was the Trendsetter's at first, but I'm happy I was wrong.
And you said remaining 6.. Does that mean you know the secret of the Highwayman?!
9+6 = 15, so I won't be revealing the mystery figure just yet, until I get the go-ahead from LEGO.
^ So you know who Mr Mystery is?
I really like the vet, particularly the latex gloves! As for the fitness instructor, I've never seen a leopard with black and white stripes ha ha
These figures continue to impress.
Nice review, can't wait for this series to reach local shops! Yep, I think you meant zebra instead of leopard. ;)
Dance Instructor = great!
Vet - not sure how I'll use her, but I'll probably pick her up. Maybe she can work with the animal control agent to keep the skunk population in check.
Elf Lady is very nice, but too bad she's incompatible with LOTR. Maybe a new castle series in the future might work well with her.
Vet reminds me of Rachel from Friends (the TV show, not the Lego line).
Nice hair piece on the vet! That elf Princess is actually a surprising good figure!
It is a shame about that paw print, but I still like the figure a lot. I can see me building a vet surgery now.
I feel like the elf girl would make a decent basis for a Sansa Stark minifig if you replaced the hair and maybe the arms, for all of you who're disappointed the Game of Thrones announcement was fake.
I like the vet the best out of these ones, mostly for the bunny. The fitness girl looks ok and so does the elf, but the vet definitely stands out high above the rest.
Finally we got Zelda to go with Link http://brickset.com/sets/8803-9/Elf
Love these 3 mainly because of the wigs my children have lego friends, elves and Disney minidolls and would love these and the little blonde fairy girl to put the hair pieces on Emma, Olivia rapunzel azari etc...
Also when is lego Disney minifigs series 2 going to be released?
Great figs (as usual); too bad they are all likely rares in a box.
As for the female vet, I know that Build a figure displays in the US have Aqua colored legs in their bins,. So they are easily attainable (at least in the US)
The Vet could also work on the children's ward, as those involved in pediatrics often have animal or "child friendly" style motifs on badges etc to help children relax, seem less formal, etc... Still possible to use her in your hospital / clinic / etc...
Or just as a vet, if you have transplanted the Friends vet clinic into your Lego town /city as I have with some of their stores...
These figs all look pretty cool, but there are ones I would rather want.
