Another teaser for the Saturn V Rocket!
Posted by CapnRex101,A third image of the LEGO Ideas Saturn V Rocket has been revealed on LEGO's official Facebook page. This shot shows the capsule about to land in the sea, thereby confirming that the rocket will include an accurate command module as well as the lunar module shown in an image last week.
You can view larger versions of all three images along with some brief analysis after the break...
The first image gives the impression that the model will measure approximately 110cm in height and shows off some of the building techniques used to create the cylindrical rocket stages.

Last week's image shows a snippet of the Apollo Lunar Module as well as the shadow of a nanofigure, perhaps indicating that Neil Armstrong, Buzz Aldrin and Michael Collins will be represented at this tiny scale.

The third shot shows the space capsule moments before splashdown. It seems very likely that the service module will also be included in the set and that this section can be separated for re-entry into Earth's atmosphere, just as was the case for the real Apollo missions!

Given that a new teaser image has been revealed on Friday for each of the last three weeks I would expect that the entire set will be announced at this time next week, if not before then. I am very excited and hope you are too!

The Lunar Module looks amazing.
So roughly what price range are we looking at? And is there an exact release date announced? All I know is this will be magnificent set regaurdless.
Interesting, in the latest photo the command module is grey with sticker detail but in the photos of it in launch configuration the capsule is (actuarially) white because of the launch shroud - I wonder if there would be multiple command module configurations...
Wow, now I'm getting psyched for this thing! The only thing that would make it better would be if it were truly minifigure scale (yes I know it would be close to 10K pieces, and thus I'd never be able to afford it). Well my blossoming city will soon include a spaceport! Happy happy joy joy!
I can't wait for its release!!
Beautiful build. I like the functionality of all the segments and it just looks good.
It does look beautiful indeed, hope the Apollo fans gets great if not amaizing set.
I want it, but it looks like it would cost about £150, WAY too much for me. still, maybe it's not quite as huge as that first teaser suggests.
looks great, but I can't stop watching the teaser for The last jedi
My excitement level is set to: unreasonable. Day 1 buy, for sure.
So far I've abstained from buying Ideas sets due to unjustifiable price tags. It's simply not good value compared to other Lego offerings.
Looks cool. Can't wait for an official pic!
Why must thy tease us!!!
Well, time to get on eBay and sell a kidney. I really have to have this set!
This might be the most playable AND displayable sets from the Lego Ideas range. I am certain it will be a standout product of the entire Lego range for quite some time, and I love how much hype they're trying to generate! I am excited to get my own copy.
These are fantastic promotional posters they are putting out.
I wonder how many people will get several sets.
The black markings on the rockets acted like bar-codes and were used to identify which rocket appeared in images.

@VAkkron: I think the maze was the most playable Lego Ideas set to date. Nevertheless, I definitely am looking forward to see what this Saturn V looks like - hopefully we'll get all the details next week! :D
This is great!
I really like this new way of 'leaking' images.
I will however be rather disappointed if the 3 astronauts are nano figures. I know that they are trying to put them in scale, but the first men to land on the moon definitely deserve to at least be in minifigure scale.
^^ Yes, that too. All the markings were distinctive to the individual rockets.
Another rubbish promo image from the work experience kids at Lego. Just hope the pros are involved in the retail packaging design and nothing short of that which came with the Porsche 911 GT3 will do it justice. I'll buy this one regardless - its a symbol of my childhood - but Lego had better not let us down.
Nonetheless they tease, tease, tease us...
Preparing us for a monster...
Price tag!
I'm betting on £179.
Care to hazard a guess?
The winner gets a cloth to clean his/her crystal ball :)
Given that the capsule seems to consist of 2 pieces I am guessing the entire set will be max 500 pieces in total. So put me down for 59,99 euros.
Meh. Rocket shmocket. I'd buy a PF version of the space shuttle crawler from that poster from the '80s though!
my guess is the price at above 200 us. it is over 44 inches tall so my guess on piece count is over 2000.
and yes my lego budget is on hold till the puppy comes out.
Is the 44 inch (i.e. 110cm) confirmed? Since that hardly seems believable...
Look at the middle section that appears to be about 12 bricks high. If you look at the picture with the shadow image of the bottom that is about 1,5 times as high. So let's put it at 20 bricks high. Then I estimate the top half is 250 bricks including details and the bottom half about 350. So maybe the piece count is 600. Still 59,99 IMHO.
I think 40 cm makes sense. That puts it about 20% taller than the burj khalifa. That could be about 500 pieces, therefore about £50, and $/€ 60. That would be a lot more attainable to most people than £180.
@Speed Champions fan: The part visible in the first teaser is already over 55 centimeters tall, and that's not even the complete rocket…
My thoughts on the size:
- The Command Module (the part which splashes down with the 3 parachutes) is 4 studs wide at the bottom. In real life, it's 3,9 meter.
- This gives a scale of roughly ~1:120. (Because 3,9 meter (real life) = 4 stud (model) = 3,2cm (model)).
- On the Ideas page, a scale of ~1:110 is given
- So I'm convinced they have gone with the proposed sizing for the rocket, standing at 1m tall. 1200 pieces (pending the detail of the internals), I'd say €179,99 (because quite a few large printed panel pieces)
Looking forward to this being released!
