Create the World cards now in Sainsbury's

The Create The World trading card promotion has started at Sainsbury's and full details are now on its website.

For every £10 spent you'll receive a pack of four cards. There are 140 to collect. They are available until 13th June which means you'll need to about £70 a week in the store to obtain that number. Of course the chances of getting 140 unique cards from 35 packs is negligible so obtaining a full set is going to be expensive and involve a lot of trading.

Is it worth the effort? paul_merton has sent us pictures of a pack and its contents, which you'll find after the break, so you can judge for yourself.

These seem to be tailored to expand the imagination of the kids.

I wonder just how much of Asia the person who designed the "Asian house" card has actually seen

By in United Kingdom,

^^ Indeed you can but at 50p for 4 that's £17.50 a set. I think most of us would rather spend that on LEGO.

By in United Kingdom,

Bought 40 packs today (I collect lots of cards!) and out of 160 cards got 33 different ones!! Very poor show.

The cards can also be used to play games. Rock, paper scissors and I think there was a dominos one as well, using the coloured strips on the back of the cards.

^^ Wow! That is bad!

I have loads of once collectible cards which are no longer valuable.

I will not be buying them, but may get some free ones.
I will be selling or trading them away to people who want them.

In Sainsbury's Local stores you get a pack of 2 cards for every £5 spent.

There was also a sign up saying you could bring in recent receipts to claim packs for previous purchases but I didn't catch the relevant dates.

It looks like you can now like comments. Did not notice them yesterday.

Earning them (1 for every £10 spent) is restricted - doesn't include tobacco, petrol, and a whole laundry list of items, including reduced (i.e. buy now before we bin it) food/drink.

Asian "house"...? Who named these cards? If that's a real house in Asia where people actually live, I'd like to see it.

The 'Asian' House may look a little odd and include some fairly rare colours, but that mini space shuttle on the thumbnail image looks pretty nice! I wonder what the other build suggestions might look like?

@wish22bone Same! It's a nice feature.

Interesting idea for the cards, but they kinda suck. They're like the Nexo Knights Power Blind Bags, but way less cool.

Blast it! There are no Sainsburys in my state...and they will not ship to me from UK. No surprise. I could really have used some of these!

If there is a corn cob guy card and I cannot get it I will be sooooo angry...

Re: the 'Asian House', bear in mind that these cards are for inspiration - they're not meant to be accurate depictions!
eBay seems to be filling up fast with overpriced sets of 40256 already, how long before the cards start appearing too?
I admire the desire to spark kids imaginations, but it's a shame there are so many AFOLs looking for a quick buck.

Designed for kids to swap with each other at school me thinks! A whole playground of kids and most of them will get a full set in no time!

By in United Kingdom,

My local store confirmed there will be "swap meets" in store starting next week. Part of store being set aside and tables set up. No other details available just yet.

I've just got hold of this. The collector's album is good quality and has a lot of facts and photos suitable for primary-school-aged kids. I don't know if my son and I will attempt to fill the album, but (as long as you can ignore the spaces) it's a handy and attractive atlas-lite.

Superpabz must have been extremely unlucky. I just received 7 packs with my order, no duplicates. 3 Minifig cards and 1 create card in each pack.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Strange. It's a fairly odd type of thing, but I must say, there's no way I'd see it being a good bargain.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

I was given 12 packs today by friends who shopped in Sainsburys yesterday. Out of 12 packs I got only one duplicate!!! GOBSMACKED!!

By in Sweden,

Wow that is crazy! ^

Can't see a corn cob guy on any of the cards. This promo was probably designed before the details for S17 were released.

No duplicates in the 33 cards I have so far.

I was told by my local big store that they will be doing swop events too - which is fantastic as many schools don't like the children doing it unsupervised in the playground. I only have the one pack so far but with a sister who works at sainsburys and a mother who shops there almost every day I think I will do quite well. I quite like this idea with the packs being just 50p (if you buy them). Now that minifigs are £3 they are slipping away from the "please mum can I have one". Parents are more likely to say yes to 50p. Lego need to find something that is more 'pocket money price' aimed at children and if that is stickers and cards then I think that is good.

I got three packs buying the set and album (lady on the till has seen me buying LEGO in there with my daughter before!) Then someone at work did a big shop and gave me six packs. Wife went to our little local and got four packs and a free two card pack.

54 cards, 1 duplicate. My parents did a big shop as well and got nine more packs and a random on Facebook replied to our "if you get them and don't want we'll have them" post and has a few more packs.

By in United Kingdom,

I bought 2 packs worth of shopping today. The lady at the till said one of the packs felt thin and gave me an extra pack. I've just opened the 3 four packs. the first packet contained 1 card, the second 3 cards and the third packet 8 cards! The 2 foil cards in that third packet were both damaged, presumably because they were all jammed in. I think they have a problem on the production line!

The cards and the album separately I like, but the slots in the pages to attach the cards seem a little bit flimsy. I think it would have been nicer to have some kind of clear plastic pouch to put the cards in as this would protect them as well. I used to have binders for collectible cards when I was a child.

Seems to be duplication within boxes. My 40 packs were from one box and I probably got the 33 different ones in first 8-10 packs - after that just duplicates. Was in a different store today and bought 2 packs from each display box and had a lot more success. Now up to over 100 diffferent.

Picked up the car set (mainly for more city figs and the map piece) and some cards. Managed to get 20/20 unique cards but can't say I'll be getting any more. They're nothing special.

Big shop at Sainsburys today! 10 packs, 8 duplicates and the book to keep them in. What I do like is the set number of the creates. Its a bit of cheap fun and an alternative to match attaxx.

@Gnac It's the exact same picture as on that page's "more images" section... huh...

From working on LEGO Universe, it seems LEGO's understanding of English has adopted a few Americanisms, such as 'Asian' meaning mainly East Asia; the confusion of Japanese, Chinese, Tibetan, etc. traditions and design that make up Ninjago. Whereas in England it's often taken to mean mainly South Asia (or the Indian Subcontinent) of India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, etc. 'Asia' is a big place to take in all at once!

By in United Kingdom,

Been a couple of weeks since they came out and my son has been given loads of packs (36 just off two people) and is now about 3 cards away from a full book.
He's also got half another set and quite a few spares, might end up just having to give them all away.
