LEGO Boost, the computerised LEGO system for kids too young for Mindstorms, is released on August 1st and can now be pre-ordered from shop.LEGO.com.
(USA | Canada | UK | Germany | France).

If you can't wait that long it's already available on eBay.co.uk for a 5% discount, at £142.99.

We have one on order and will review it as soon as we can.

By in Puerto Rico,

I wonder if this is somewhat compatible with the other Lego Mindstrom program.

By in United States,

Sadly requires a tablet for building directions and programming. Was hoping it would work with a laptop, similar to the WeDo 2.0 kits. :(

...and if you don't like Boost this month, you could pick up a double decker instead...

Unfortunately, the required companion app is not yet available (at least for iOS). Customer Support claims they are working to have the release moved up from August 1 to possibly July 25.

Had one preordered from Lego, it arrived yesterday, but can't find Android app anywhere yet, guessing have to wait until August...

So... the app is neither available for iOs nor Android and I cannot use it with a laptop. Why exactly should I buy it then? Is there any compatible device as of right now?

Hopefully some clever people in the community will come up with an alternative programming method, like RobotC or similar. Then I hope I can use this in some simple projects which don't need all the features of Mindstorms. I'm not a fan of those drag and drop style programming interfaces, I can never get them to do what I want them to do. Probably because I'm just an old school text-based programmer :)

By in Australia,

We have to wait until October for Boost to be available in Australia. I look forward to hearing how it can be used for our own projects....

The Boost app is now listed in the iOS App Store. It's just shy of 1 GB.
