Why on earth do Minifigure Maddness need to cut the packets open to find out what's inside! Not impressed.

By in Sweden,

I find it funnier to open random packages and feel for minifigures in store rather than buying online and the price here is to much.

After managing to get a hold of a brand new, unopened box at a local retail store in my town and searching through it to find it had not a single Shark Army Angler minifigure in the entire box, I'd say that this is looking more worth it for those wanting the full collection. This box definitely DID NOT have 3 full sets of figures.

I'll note that the mylar of the bags seems slightly thicker with this series, as it felt much harder to feel for specific items this time around too.

As for cutting open the bags... yes its faster then feeling, and guarentees that you'll get which one you'll get, but it's not impossible to tell what your looking for by feel alone.

The price keeps fluctuating but lowest so far for a full box (3 full sets) was 184€ on Amazon France, Brickset users should be clubbing together for a box! That's 61.34€ per set.

^ just seen post above , apparently not 3 full sets in every box.

Was looking forward to these guys exhibiting and the 4TG games con in Aberdeen this weekend and maybe seeing some of the ninjago figs "in the flesh". Unfortunately, turns out it's Minifigure Madness (only one "d") exhibiting and not these guys :-(

@Aleydita. Already messages Brickset and Hew about it. Apparently the box they got sent to review did have 3 full sets in it.

As said though, apart from having ZERO Angler minifigs, the box I searched had only 2 Flashback Garmedons, 2 GPL techs, 2 Lloyd Garmedons (Hooded with bowl), 2 Gong and Guitars, Only 1 Shark Army General 1, and one Garmedon (plain one with glaive staff).

However, there were 4 Zanes, 4 N-pop girls, 4 Misako and 4 Spinzitsu training Mya and 4 Wu. The rest had the expected 3 characters.

Still don't know if this was a rogue box, or the new norm however as I've not been able to get my hands on another new box. Rest of the retailers in my town who sell them didn't have them out already. Gonna do another run today to see if any others have them in yet, staff at them are used to me bag feeling.

Be interested to hear other's experiences: as said above, the box we were sent had 3 full sets and while I'd be surprised if there is some variation this time, I guess it's not impossible.

By in United States,

So for several of these CMF lines I've been looking at them and went: Those look really cool! (Simpsons, Disney,TLM,TLBM). But I hate 'random' collecting stuff. And 'only' €75? I'd rather buy a nice set.

So Lego, if you are listing, you are better than this. Stop the SDCC nonsense and this. At least give me some option to just buy them if I want to. If later, then fine. VIP Only? fine.

^^I've had a couple of boxes and they both had 3 sets in.

Okay, so now I've just gotten back from my local Smyths store, where I managed to go through 2 brand new boxes with one of the staff I know there. (They like to have a box of pre-determined blind bags for the kids looking for specific ones).

The first one did contain the 3 full sets of 20 you'd expect. The second however had 4 of each Shark Army character, and 4 of each Garmedon.

There were only 2 N-pop girls, 2 Wu's, 2 Misako, 2 Zane, 2 Kai Kendo, 2 Nya and 2 Jay. The last 6 character had the expected 3 each.

I don't know what to make of this as there seems to be normal boxes out there, but that's two more random boxes I've encountered.

^are they really random or did you not feel the right bags? Without opening all of them it is tough to say that there were so many mistakes. It doesn't make sense for lego to release random distribution and normal 3 set distribution. Their machines would be set up for a certain way to sort it so they can get items out of their factories in a timely and efficient manner.

When are these officially released?

I ordered from that site for the last series and was really pleased. This go around it seems a lot more expensive and I don't mean just because extra figures. $93 vs ~85 after tax when converted.

@Sethro: At the small local retailer, the manageress there is bad at feeling the bags, so actually punched a small hole in the bags to peek through, so that ones a confirmed count.

At Smyth's, it was all by feel. Both myself and the staff member there though have several series worth of bag searching, and we've both got 100% accuracy ratings for getting them right. Only have my word for that however though so I can understand the scepticism. As said, I agree its very odd given as far as I'm aware, Lego's factories are pretty much fully automated these days.

@Omnium. The official release date for them is August 1st, though some stores have gotten them on shelves early.

If I had the funds to buy the entire series at once I would certainly take advantage of this offer. As is I've got to slowly buy 1 or 2 at a time and waste all the time of feeling the bags, which I've still not mastered unfortunately.

What makes CMF:s so fun is the experience to open the packages you've bought at the store, and realizing you got the minifig you ought fot (in happy cases). It's almost magical, like opening a christmas gift. I guess this is a pretty good way to get them if you want them all, but the price is a little high (some stores in Sweden sell the newest CMF:s for £3, TRU sells them for only £2.5 each). Since the release is days away, I'd recommend going out for some bag-feeling.

It comes to about $98 USD for me, so I decided NOT to do it. However, I may spend about the same and end up with duplicates.
