The Advent Countdown returns!

Posted by ,

December is almost upon us and with it comes the return of our ever-popular Advent Calendar countdowns! These commenced in 2011 so have become a tradition over the last few years and we hope you continue to enjoy them.

We will be covering all three calendars and the 24-in-1 Build up set and these articles will be spread out during the day, as indicated below:

  • 10:00am - 40253 Christmas Build Up (TheBrickPal)
  • 12:00pm - 60155 City Advent Calendar (CapnRex101)
  • 3:00pm - 41326 Friends Advent Calendar (MeganL)
  • 5:00pm - 75184 Star Wars Advent Calendar (CapnRex101)

Times are GMT/UTC.

The Advent calendar articles will be spoiler-free as they appear on the homepage so you can safely visit Brickset before opening your own.

This time of year is among Brickset's busiest so I recommend keeping a close watch on the homepage over the next few weeks. Look out for reviews of the new 2018 sets as well as in-depth editorial articles and much more!

By in United Kingdom,

IMHO this years Star Wars Advent Calendar is nothing like as good as last years one.

By in Finland,

Good to hear. I always like to compare my own and other people's opinions. :)

the sw one sucks this year

Oh well, if it's that bad, at least I have my beer advent calendar to console myself with :)

By in United Kingdom,

Ordered my City one and it still hasn’t dispatched...woo I’m so ready for a mid December advent calendar!

By in Netherlands,

I think this years Star Wars Advent Calendar is too much TFA oriented, not a single PT/CW vehicle or character. And the characters this year aren't really interesting either.

By in United Kingdom,

From looking at the Star Wars advent calendar box I wish they could have made BB8 a bauble with decorative printing rather than just a normal one wearing a Santa hat.

By in Spain,

I was nervous because there was no news about if this December Brickset would cover the Advent Calendar and the 24in1 Build up Set...but, as expected, here it comes. Thanks Brickset. I enjoy discovering every day's surprise and later read the comments from other readers.

And I only have the 24in1 Build up Set (two, because LEGO get confused and send me my order in two parts, and both with it.. ;-)))))

In Brickset we can trust!!!

Glad at the timing of the SW one. Means I can open it with my eldest daughter after school

By in France,

Well, I pretty much like this SW calendar is about TFA. Hoping for a Rogue One theme next year though, hopefully no Rebels [except if they do a Xmas Thrawn minifig of course].

Will look forward to the postings and the reviews. I have enjoyed the Star Wars calendars in recent years especially with a focus on Original Trilogy and there has been some really great Santa themed minifigs, possibly peaking with Darth Vader. The TFA heavy theme though and what looks like BB8 with just a Santa hat has me seen me opting out this year. Was I right? I look forward to CapnRex's daily reviews to find out...

The SW one does seem very lame this year - I guess Lego is trying to make up for giving us such an awesome one last year. At least we'll probably see some consistency with the Friends calendar which is pretty rubbish each and every year without fail.

Is there a way to hide these from the news feed? I really don't care about them at all and just waste my time looking for real news.

@David1985 - News category preferences are on the right-hand side of the profile page.

I'm glad they're going to be spoiler-free, I haven't got one this year. Although I'll probably check them all anyway.

I still have a 2014 SW calendar (75056) with Vader Claus and R2-Tree2 to open! I've been holding onto it till the kids are old enough and I think this is the year!

By in Germany,

Star Wars advent calendar, about two years behind times.

By in Canada,

Are there any instructions or part list for each model? I make my own advent calendar for the kids, and some models are a bit tricky to replicate from the single view. Else I'll just follow a day or so behind :-)

EDIT: Should have looked myself first. Found it linked on the set page to manual.co.UK. Thanks Brick set, you're the best!!!

By in Singapore,

My kids are reviewing their Friends and City Calendars. We're at +8 (UTC), so they've just done up the first day's build!

I think for Advent you should finally post the last part of your Millennium Falcon review. We have been waiting since you interview with the designer in mid October for the final part. I imagine you are either comparing it to the original UCS version, waiting on the black VIP card, or you also want to include a discussion of it's launch. I think you can save a launch discussion for its very own article. I like reading your reviews and hope to read this one soon.
