A night in the LEGO House report

Last week we reported that the winner of the AirBnB competition to win a night in the LEGO House was Brickset reader Susan. If you've not read that article yet do so before reading this one as it'll make a lot more sense!

Susan and family flew out last Thursday and are now back home. She's kindly sent us this report and accompanying photos:

The overnight stay in the LEGO House really was an awesome once in a lifetime trip. The AirBnB team looked after us very well: we had business class flights, extra nights at one of their other properties, and a crazy amount of food and treats. They were very friendly but, unfortunately, as of yet haven’t taken up my suggestion to send us on more adventures, purely for publicity of course!

The LEGO House team also went above and beyond to look after us and make us welcome. Not only did they make lots of models for us, they fed us well and provided a bedroom and sitting room. They even plumbed in a shower for us!

We’ve not done any publicity before and to us there seemed to be a lot of interviews, photos, filming and so on, and even 4 year old Izzy wore a radio mic all day. But despite the 20 or so people following us around, Jamie, Stuart and Gitte really made it fun.

After a tour of the house we spent a while building the modules of the International Space Station with Jamie. He and Stuart had already built the Shuttle and Squishy Noodles which are fantastic, I now have them at home.

Everyone else left at about 9.30pm, after which the House was so quiet and still. The four of us kept building until midnight, even the electrician who called in to switch the lights off didn’t stop us, we carried on using torches!

On Saturday, Izzys 5th birthday, LEGO put on one of the best breakfasts I’ve ever had, gave presents to the girls and a birthday cake for Izzy. After that we went and built minifigures of ourselves with Stuart, who has put them in the world showcase so visitors can now try and find us: we will be having a birthday picnic there forever!

At 10am the doors opened to the public, the press left and we were on our own to play for the day, although all the staff treated us and Izzy like royalty for the day. In all we spent 28 hours in the House and if Izzy could have kept her eyes open it would have been longer. We really loved it and are already looking at flights back in February!

Amazing! What a brilliant experience for you all, the stuff dreams are made of.
I love the models that Jamie and Stuart built for the girls, they are fantastic and seem to me to perfectly represent their ideas.
(I really want to copy that lettering on 'Izzy's' though)

Great use of lego for Izzy's noodle bar....
The older girl will remember this for the rest of her life.
Retelling stories about it to the younger girl, will also be fun forever.
Love the unicorn hood/hat. :)

Thanks for sharing! What a great experience! I wouldn't mind a set of instructions for those models, either.

I was so waiting for this report! It is even better than expected! Thanks, Susan and family to share your experience! The shuttle, squishy noodles and space station looks fantastic! I have never seen that lettering technique before. It's incredibly fun! And I love the last two pictures! What a treasure! That station is actually giving me ideas for my next project. LEGO doing stuff like this makes me so happy. :D
