City Advent Calendar: Day 22

The ice sculpture revealed yesterday is unlike any gift we have seen in a LEGO City Advent Calendar previously so made a welcome change. Today's model is quite the opposite, having appeared in numerous past sets, but still offers excellent play value in my opinion...

Snowmobiles are a consistent feature of City and Friends Advent Calendars, although that is no bad thing as these small vehicles are appropriate for the season and are fun to play with. I like the flame yellowish orange, black and light bluish grey colour scheme of this model and the shaping of the bodywork at the front looks great, including two rare pieces which have each appeared in just three other sets to date.

The skis are represented using black spoiler elements. This building technique has been used before and works really well as the curved ends of the spoiler are remarkably reminiscent of skis. There is room to seat a minifigure behind the steering wheel and a backrest is also included. A trailer could be clipped to the backrest if you wish, although that might look a bit awkward and there is a space to fit a 1x2 plate with a vertical shaft which might be more suitable for a tow hitch.

Overall - 4.0 - This is a simple model but I like its consistent colour scheme and the large skis towards the front look superb.
