Star Wars Advent Calendar: Day 22

Posted by ,

The last few days of LEGO Star Wars Advent Calendars are usually occupied by festive items. Will we move onto the final stage of the calendar today or is there time for one more model from Rogue One: A Star Wars Story? Let's find out...

The Imperial AT-ST made only a very brief appearance in Rogue One: A Star Wars Story but is a very welcome addition to the selection of mini models this year. A pair of 2x2 angled plates have been used very effectively to form the shape of the head and I love the 1x1 round tile representing the hatch on top. The single stud on the front looks a bit odd in relation to the AT-ST in the movies, although I appreciate the additional texture which is certainly better than simply leaving a smooth forward surface.

A laser cannon is fitted to the underside of the head and this can be rotated from side to side. The single barrel is more reminiscent of an AT-DP than at AT-ST but I am very satisfied with this design, especially since it has some range of motion. The head and ankles are similarly articulated using standard hinges, although it is a little disappointing that the legs cannot be moved back and forth individually as that would have been very useful for display.

Overall - 4.5 - This is an excellent rendition of an AT-ST, featuring an impressive level of detail in relation to its small size. Fully articulated legs would have been ideal but this model is marvellous even without them.

I find it pretty funny that it's easier to put this into a walking pose than the minifig scale one!

This thing is gorgeous! It's almost cute, like a Baby AT-ST ... <3

Another great little model. This has been such a great calendar so far. It's just the knowledge of the anticlimax to come that tempers my enthusiasm.

My favourite model of the calendar this year.

@Brainslugged: My thoughts exactly. I love this thing, but I know what the next two are going to be and neither is exciting.

This little walker is adorable. I like the angled plates for the head. I agree with the 4.5 score.

Could be an AT-PT ;)

I think Lego listened to us last year to finally change somethings up :)

Great model. Really good vehicle builds throughout this whole calendar.

I think they should've tried to use a pair of binoculars for the main guns, but it is still a good model.

That's meant to be an AT-ST? I thought it was meant to be an AT-DP, and you even say that the singular cannon makes it look like an AT-DP.
