Valentines T-Shirt and mug winner

Posted by ,

Thanks to everyone who entered our competition over the weekend to win a classic space/Valentines mash-up T -Shirt, and a mug from FireStar Toys by coming up with the best (cheesiest) LEGO-related chat up line.

There were some great, corny and cheesy entries, some of which I'm told are not PG-13, so we picked a clean and very cheesy one:

I like to think that 'only the best is good enough', so I've been thinking about you.

Congratulations , we'll be in touch to get your details.

You can read all the entries here and on Facebook, and if you didn't win but would like a shirt for yourself or partner, head over to FireStar Toys!

Umm.. how is that line lego related? The contest was... and I quote directly from the article...

"best (cheesiest) LEGO-related chat up line".

More people associate that line with Milky Bar then with Lego. Okay, it was a personal motto of Ole Kirk Kristiansen, but it was never used in relation to any lego products.

It's been the company motto since the wood era...

Actually, Legos motto "det bedste er ikke for godt " which comes from the personal motto translates as "Only the best is the best" or as they put it "the best is never too good".

So yeah.... 'only the best is good enough' is still more Milky Bar then Lego....

Also, strictly speaking.... Ole Kirk thought plastic was low quality and would never replace Wood in Childens toys.... soo.... yeah...

Here's another corny line, which would apply to this contest too: "I like you like I like my lego - blocky and overpriced."

@Akulla: I'd actually agree on that given Firestar, who I wasn't aware of before this contest, seem to like to sell single minifigures for what you could buy the entire set containing them for....

Anyway, if anyone doesn't get me, I'm simply pointing out that your Average Joe on the streets more likely to associate 'only the best is good enough' with Milky Bar rather then Lego. You have to know about legos history etc to associate it with them... and even then its not the correct translation.

I wasn't going to enter anyway, so here are mine:
- I would feel an entire box of CMFs in public just to get your favourite.
- Arrange a trip to Billund cuz' you're gonna get an Inside Tour!
- I would never put you in cryosleep over purple.
- Does your name end in .ldr? Cuz' I wanna check your submodels.

@Spartan Ghost: Strangely, a friend of mine from the US is the one who said 'I thought that was the Milky Bar Kid motto' before I noticed it. Hence why I pointed out unless you know Lego you'd not think it was anything to do with them.

But yeah... back on Topic. Was a fun contest that they should do similar of more often.

Hmm... I got the impression this was going to be a random draw of entrants. And that there would be two winners: one for the t-shirt and one for the mug.

Got a kick out of all the lines people came up with. Good job everyone!
