That's still too long to wait.

"This highly anticipated model is available in LEGO stores from June 1st, then generally from August 1st. It is the second set in the Ultimate series, pulling up alongside the LEGO Technic Porsche 911 GT3 RS."

Sounds like perhaps VIP get it June 1st, the rest August 1st?

The real ones are already ugly. I can’t see Lego making an improvement.

By in Australia,

I reckon 1st June for lego shop orders and 1st August for retail release. The retail stores usually get them a month or two after the lego shop release

This is the first time I've seen them refer to "Technic Ultimate."

It’ll be in Lego stores from 1st June and generally from 1st August, judging by the price of the Porsche it might be worth waiting until amazon heavily discount it like they have the Porsche. I also hope they’ve addressed the shortcomings of the gearbox and it would be awesome if some of the body panels were easily removable so you can still see and access the technical parts if you wish as they were completely covered and hidden in 42056.

Cool. I just got done dismantling and cleaning #8448 (1999's Super Street Sensation). Naturally, doing this made me want to build it again... Anyway, I wonder how today's super cars are holding up in comparison? I feel like after that one the super cars tended more towards body styling over Technic functions, but maybe the pendulum is swinging back? I haven't looked at the Porshe's instructions so I don't know what its features are.

I guess it'll have to include a new cylinder block element as the W16 would be huge with the current design...

@mrdoofa, that is exactly my hope. The biggest problem with the Porsche for me was not the covering up of the gearbox and motors, as much as it was the fact that these were completely covered up without any option to see the inner-workings. I am actually a fan of the covered-up panel look of these newer sets, but only if there is the ability to "peek under the hood" so to speak and see the complexities within. However, I am a slighty pessimistic that anything will be different this time.

Either way... June 1st means more info coming to us sooner! I can't wait!

So [email protected] might stock something silly like 12 of these sets that'll create a backorder status like all the other hyped 2017 releases, right?

By in Germany,

intresting how they build the w16. looks like 2 bank in parallel on each side. At least in the short glimpse we got in the trailer.

@MTBrickHouse: I don't think this set will generate any such hype like the MF, far from it. Why should it? Look at the Porsche as the perfect example. It is available everywhere, and usually at a pretty high discount as well. Will be the same here, as it is just another set in the line.

Do you get more than just the wheels?

@AustinPowers Yes, that much I figured. It was mainly sarcasm at [email protected]'s inventory debacle of last year. Maybe that's why they stopped sending me feedback surveys. LOL. I didn't have an urge to buy an MF but there were countless other sets [email protected] had problems keeping stock with as well.

I hope that it is better than the Porsche. I was really disappointed with how that one turned out.

So many people with so much negativity before they have even seen it. The Porsche clearly sold like hot cakes. Lego are a business. Sounds like a winner. Lots will buy it.

Did the Porsche really sell that well? I've never noticed it go out of stock and it is often discounted.

By in Sweden,

This is certainly an unwelcome development. Technic doesn't need more vehicles which have the exact same functions as we've already seen a gazillion times, and especially not licensed sets. Where's the creativity? With focus on System parts, the bodywork tends to look much better, Technic is not a good fit for this.

By in Netherlands,

I welcome this set. Sounds like a great set and I think it is long overdue that Lego releases sets with great looking exteriors (read: more system-focused) and with super cool functional workings (read: Technich guts). I have the Porsche but have yet to build. Looking forward to it! Will get the Bugatti as well unless reviews really suck.

I'm not into technic, so I'm not going to get this one, but I am really curious to what the final product is going to look like. I would guess amazing!

By in Austria,

I have not owned the Porsche Lego Technic set however I have played with it in a friend's place. It is awesome. Name me a toy in the world that allows you in reasonable detail, to construct a car from bottoms up from an architectural point of view.. I cannot see any other toys getting even close to this.

And so I am looking forward to the Bugatti Chiron Lego Technic set too. My birthday is around the launching time so maybe it is a good excuse...

PS: All the curves in a Bugatti Chiron... it makes me wonder how they will make it. Surprise me, Lego.
