Very cute small set with lovely backyard.
Love the simplicity in these older town sets.
I just love how these older sets managed to get so much detail (and play value) into these sets with the simplest of pieces. This set even seems to pre-date the chair piece, but still gives you a lovely little set, with an interior and exterior, and without a gimmick or a police officer in sight.
And yeah, the barbecue in the backyard is pretty cool.
I remember that I dreamed of having this one when I was a kid. It looked so nice, so "complete". A house all built in lego! It still looks good even today. And I also used picture of this barbecue to build a forge in my castle.
This was one of my favourite sets!
I used to put my light brick inside it, turn my bedroom light off and gaze inside :)
I missed out on this set in my youth and everytime I see it I want to get one. It'sjust so nice.
I was lucky to get one when it came out me aged 8. Still one of my favorite sets of the past.
This was one of the first "large" sets I got as a kid, if not the first. Nice how it could be folded together to a closed house. Have build it like a hundred times in the following years. Still have is somewhere.
It had a tap and sink, and a tv inside. The tree was used to "lock" the plates together. The gate arch that led to nowhere... ahh, the memories (I'm 42....) The chairs, as mentioned above, were indeed pre-chair-piece (this was first in a black convertible car with cowboy hat minifig I think: I used to ask for sets because of specific new pieces).
I miss these sets as a City filler in this theme. Now you should get the Creator houses, that sort of match, but are too rich. Same goes for simple City fillers like a Snackbar, Docters/Dentist practice, Postoffice etc... Small buildings for a fun price to make a city a city.
Venco you're right, I remember the set Snack bar which was so precious in my lego "city" as a kid, it gave a living aspect to the whole. And it's true we nowadays see big buildings as Modulars are, they are very nice but expensive, but little citizen or services constructions are pretty rare and nonetheless important to "fill" a city layout, but with MOCs.
One of my favorite childhood sets. I was 5 when this came out. A mainstay of my late 70s-late80s town layout when I was a kid.
One of my favourite sets as a kid, I got it for Christmas in 1978. This set and 374 Fire Station had hinges so they could be closed up into a four walled building, or could be opened up to access the interior. It was a short lived idea (at the time, it returned many, many years later for some of the Creator sets) and subsequent town building sets just had the back wall omitted for interior access.
I have it too!
I love this one. Came across one at a toy fair and would of been bought it - except when I checked inside I didn't actually contain the pieces for it. Shame because I really like the look of it.
It is one of my favourites still- one of the first I owned and first to be rebuilt regularly. The sticker tv is still on the brick and I love the little tap on the sink
