2018 LEGO Inside Tour set revealed!
Posted by CapnRex101,
The last Inside Tour of the summer has finished and the 2018 LEGO Inside Tour set has therefore been revealed. 4000025 LEGO Ferguson Tractor is based upon one of LEGO's earliest plastic models, released in 1951.
This Ferguson Tractor proved to be incredibly popular and played a significant role in LEGO's decision to move away from using wood as its primary manufacturing material, instead focusing upon plastic toys which were becoming increasingly profitable. The iconic LEGO brick was created just seven years later, in 1958.
Thanks to stlux for this image. We will be publishing more detailed photos of the assembled model over the weekend, although you can view some at Zusammengebaut now.

I don't know what to think besides that it's interesting.
However I would have preferred it in red.
@CapnRex101, there are two more tours.
I'm on the last one (Sep 18-21), and now a little disappointed at this reveal by LEGO.
(I've seen it today from other sources, so this is not targeted at you or Brickset).
Those of us going to one of the last tours have essentially paid for a specific experience that has now been tarnished.
Well if you don't want to go on the tour because that experience has somehow been tarnished then I will gladly take your space.
@David1985, I will keep that in mind :))
@RonnyN - Huw and I were informed that attendees of the Autumn Inside Tours will receive a different set. Presumably LEGO learned from previous experience that the exclusive set was usually revealed towards the end of the summer so have this year chosen to create two separate sets.
I love it. It seems that it will be exclusive? It's something completely out of my collection theme that I would really like to get. Thank you.
Excellent parts usage, especially that constraction shoulder armour piece for the tractor's seat!
And AFAIK the old design (2903) motorcycle wheel is a first in Light Bluish Grey (Medium Stone).
This tractor would make for an excellent Creator Expert series vehicle though, as someone posted above, it probably would have benefitted from more colourful pieces. (Sand Green with a touch of Dark Green anyone?)
CapnRex101 My bet is the next set will be the same thing in red as the original set came in red and grey.
@Brick't The Inside Tour sets are always exclusive to the... Inside Tour. So yeah, don't get your hopes up.
However last year's Tree of Creativity set got a little brother released at the Lego House so who knows...
Both this and the original plastic toy look to be around 1/16 scale. Can anyone confirm this?
can someone tell if the seat is an existing piece?
Bengh_zeran thank you - I was just modifying my comment when I noticed that. My question was of course "stupid" . But I like it so much that I have been a little too hasty to ask. I hate exclusive sets that are so nice. This model drives me back right to my childhood. Grand mother lived in a very small village where people in the 70's, 80's still used such engines and dressed, ate and lived as 20 years before.. . Those types of tractors were noisy, did much smoke but they were so robust, and used by two or three generations of farmers who learned to drive and use them as soon as they were able to reach both steering wheel and pedals at the same time. Well. Just one more so nice but exclusive set that "average lego fan" won't be able to get. Frustrating.
Is that entire thing pearl silver or is it just the lighting? Because that many new pearl silver parts would be great.
Man, what a cool set idea that references Lego's history...that I'll never get my hands on. Oh well!
Lovely set! But like @David1985 said, I would have preferred it in red.
@CapnRex101, I have Astrid as a Facebook friend. She just told me that all participants get the same set...
Nice looking set, would of been more of a Wow factor had there been a few more colours included maybe abit of Reddish brown or Earth green thrown in, maybe yellow for the wheels aswell..
Best I know, all Fergusons of this era were gray. They're supposed to look like this. My great-uncle mowed his fields with a similar looking Ferguson. There are quite a few brands making (or have made) licensed tractor building toys (for some reason CNH Global/Case IH brands mostly), but the quality is usually spotty at best (Best Lock and MB made most of them). I would love to see a series of similarly scaled tractors and implements.
I really could care less about the Inside Tour sets, but this is one I really like. Perhaps the best-done tractor since the old Technic Massey Ferguson. I've had the toy on which this is based on my Bricklink wish list for a long time, but can't afford it. I can buy the real Ferguson this is based on for half the cost of a trip to Billund.
Hopefully, when the instructions become available all these are non-exclusive parts I can Bricklink. Of course, there is the issue of the decals/printed parts, but it isn't that bad without it.
You can bricklink all parts except for the printed tiles with the Ferguson logo.
It's a very clever build which is not a surprise as one of the best designers worked on it.
The Inside Tour's appeal is so much more beyond the mystery set...
@ronnyn, haven't you been on the Inside Tour before?
Iconic? Sure. Well done? Yeah. I couldn't want it any less though. Like so many Star Wars sets... wrought with light bluish grey. I'm worn out on it.
That is really beautiful model. Would be a cool general release, but other than that sticker/print on the front of the tractor the rest of the pieces look like they can be Bricklinked.
@RachelR... maybe... :)
2018 will be remembered as the Year of SNOT with sets like this. Previous Inside Tour exclusives had way more studs showing.
Neat design, but also something I don't mind not owning. :D
What’s the factory tour cost?
I want this so bad!
I would love to be able to buy a slightly smaller version of this next year in the Lego House shop. They did it with my Tree of Creativity so here's hoping! I believe the Autumn Inside Tour exclusive set last year was a Brickheadz (yes another one - completionists beware!) so I don't think they got a Tree of Creativity.
Really like this set!!!
“It's a very clever build which is not a surprise as one of the best designers worked on it.“
And the name is?
@iriz, the designer's name is Steen Sig Andersen. He designs all LIT sets.
@legoverslinder: Looks like this piece: https://brickset.com/parts/design-21560
It compares ok to the original. the front wheels are too wide though and the rear mudguards are wider than the original. other than that it looks ok.
Yes I, have an old ferguson in grey at hand. Which isn't mine and it's missing a few things like the seat.
I'm also looking forward to instructions being posted for this (I'm not quite a Master Builder yet...).
Seeing this tractor reignited my desire to see another Farm theme... 2009 has been too long ago since the last non-Duplo Farm theme...
Agriculture is important and Legos are a great way to use play as a learning tool in this area... beyond the age of 3... I'm biased of course, I'm from Iowa and drive by rows of corn every day.
As a 2018 tour participant, I can assure you that tours 4 and 5 are getting a different set. Our embargo to release pictures of the set was midnight CET 15 June 2018, almost 12 hours after the third tour received their set. Astrid set the embargo and explained that the second wave on inside tours were getting a different set.
Morkman, 14500 DKK.

@dr_rock_au, I have a message from her that says tours 4 and 5 are getting the same set.
So we'll wait and see.
