Another exclusive product from San Diego Comic-Con has been unveiled on LEGO's Twitter feed. 75996 Aquaman and Storm contains 197 pieces and is unusually packaged in a box which resembles a video cassette case, like 75512 Millennium Falcon Cockpit.

This set includes an Aquaman minifigure alongside some of his undersea followers, the most famous of whom is a domesticated seahorse named Storm. You can take a look at the packaging after the break...

Will you be attending San Diego Comic-Con this year? Let us know in the comments.

Nothing special about this sorry. ..

Looks like a creator set or a fan made creation!

I'm liking these Comicon sets. No exclusive minifigs so far, and the builds are nice display pieces that a collector can display along with the box. I'm hoping that someone will give out the instructions for this one, I'd like to get the pieces to make Storm. Very neat!

That Seahorse!

I agree with @eggshen - perfect SDCC set. No exclusive figs, anyone can bricklink the parts, but hard core collectors and those with money to burn can go crazy for the exclusive packaging.

I am not a DC fan but this looks good.

Humph. Comic con sets look great but I won't be able to go. I would absolutely love the Solo one, though.

Apart from the exclusive packaging it’s nothing special imo

The good thing about these SDCC exclusives is that, beyond the box, it seems that I could Bricklink the parts and make my own if I want. There don't seem to be any exclusive parts. I'm good with that.

Is it possible that after all the past years of complaining that Lego have finally listened to fans about the Comicon exclusives??

For me, this is the way forward. Exclusive packaging makes the items collectible and the non-exclusivity of the figures and parts means that everyone else doesn't feel excluded.

And now why have I got the feeling that I've spoken to soon....?

That is horrendous haha

It looks adorable. Storm is a little too big but getting him at all in LEGO is great.

This is really cute. This is the kind of thing that Comic-Con sets are great for—sets that play to the mythology and tradition of nerdy franchises but wouldn't necessarily "fit" in a typical set from that theme.

Sadly, the amount of whining I've seen about it proves that the debate over exclusive figs or no exclusive figs is a "damned if you do, damned if you don't" decision.

I like the sting-ray!

Take Aquaman out and you have a poor Creator set.

By in Australia,

I do think it's a weak set, but the thing is, it's still better than most of the actual Aquaman-themed sets we get as part of the DC Heroes line-up every year.

I read "Storm", and thought we were getting two different sets, one with Storm of the X-Men in it. Sigh...

So Dimensions Aquaman with worse hair?

I'm firmly against the previous method of Comic-Con exclusives, which just led to tons of resold Comic-Con sets at high prices. I do think they should do exclusive minifigures in these sets though, they should simply restrict it to slight variations in printing. For instance, take Aquaman here and put a bit of dirt or wear and tear on his armor. Simple things like that. Print Han Solo with a different mouth, etc . . .

I don't necessarily like the builds (they are cute, admittedly), and the minifigure is nothing to write home about, but hey, at least casuals like me aren't discluded from being able to Bricklink the pieces and minifigure without needing to pay extra for the packaging.

I love how LEGO finally listened to its customers, most of which have rightfully critized those SDCC exclusives and the elitist way in which they are distributed.
Now they offer sets that can be rebricked by everyone, and the only "exclusive" bit is the packaging, which let's be honest get's thrown away by far more people than one would imagine. Of all the LEGO builders I know, only one other apart from me keeps the boxes, but even he doesn't keep them pristine but instead folds them flat and stuffs them in a box in the attic to save space.

Thumbs up towards TLG for this move from me.

This kind of sucks. So I guess it fits Aquaman quite nicely. ;-)

does not look very impressive. Was expecting one of the Brickheadz.

Looks like Lego is not in the list of exhibitors for NYCC this year. Any idea if they are pulling out of nycc

I like it when Lego does exclusive Minifigures instead. This looks like some kid wanted to make his own aquaman set.
