2018 Bricktober sets revealed!

Posted by ,

PromoBricks has discovered a Toys R Us leaflet containing images of four 2018 'Bricktober' sets. These will be available in German Toys R Us stores between the 27th of August and the 23rd of September, with a new minifigure pack being released each week.

We do not yet know whether these packs will be available in countries where Toys R Us stores have closed, although it seems likely that they will given the size of those markets. As soon as more information is confirmed, we will let you know.

You can view larger images of each minifigure pack below...

Dr. Ian Malcolm? SOLD!

Gravatar
By in Australia,

I’m gonna need all of these...
(Well, maybe not the Ninjago set)

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Heard rumours over here in the UK at least they're going to be 'spend over x amount' Promo giveaways. Going by those images it may be true as the Toy R Us branding has been removed from the front of the packs.

Gravatar
By in Austria,

YES!
Finally, I've been waiting for information on how to get them ever since they first leaked. Need a better resolution picture of the Harry Potter Pack, to see if it has minifig pieces I would want.
The Avengers one is my top priority this fall.

Gravatar
By in Canada,

too bad my local toys r us is shut down

Gravatar
By in Germany,

I'm very much looking forward to these. Especially the Harry Potter ones - gotta love the Snape Boggart :D

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Neeeed that Ian Malcolm. Want the Marvel and Harry Potter ones too. Don't know how I'm gonna get em tho.
If anyone got a source to get them in the UK, let me know

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

The Avengers one has to be top of my list! Hopefully they will be GWP at Smyths or somewhere like that...

Gravatar
By in Norway,

The Infinity war and Jurassic Park/World collection is a must have!

Gravatar
By in Belgium,

Nice, definitely going to try to get the Ninjago one (Kabuki Nya!).

Wouldn't be surprizing to see these at Smyths in UK/IE since the takeover over DE/AT/CH TRUs

Gravatar
By in United States,

The Jurassic World one is awful. The Harry Potter one will be insanely expensive.

Gravatar
By in United States,

As someone who does not like licensed (nor Ninjago), this is an extremely easy pass. My wallet is thankful!

Gravatar
By in United States,

My money is on target for US release

Gravatar
By in United States,

Love Wong, Kabuki Nya, Future Jay, Ian Malcolm, most of the HP figs, and even Tony Stark looks interesting. So I just need...all of them.

Dammit.

Gravatar
By in Puerto Rico,

Love Wong, Ian Malcom and Kabuki Nya, Snape looks hilarious in his defeated Boggart shape although I have no interest on the HP one.

Gravatar
By in Netherlands,

The Infinity War and Jurassic World ones look amazing. But it is a little lame that they included a baby Blue. I would've preferred either a different character (maybe Benjamin Lockwood or even John Hammond?) or a different colour, as the baby variants of the entire Raptor Squad were in FK.

Gravatar
By in United States,

The Avengers one is a MUST HAVE!!

Gravatar
By in United States,

That new chrome bat is interesting as well.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

well as Smyths Toys own Toys r us in Germany it looks hopeful that Smyths Toys in the UK will get these :)

Gravatar
By in United States,

I can finally get my Wong!

Gravatar
By in United States,

Harry Potter is probably the best of these, Jurassic World the worst. The Ninjago one isn't as interesting as the last one, but getting show only characters in physical form isn't something to complain about! The Marvel one I could give or take, but I don't recall if we got a Wong in the last Sanctum Sanctorum set but I'm pretty sure we didn't so that's cool!

So from best to worse
Harry Potter
Ninjago
Marvel
Jurassic World

By in United Kingdom,

With mention of Smyths, you'd think as pretty much the UK's only major surviving toyshop chain, (Toymaster and The Entertainer aren't great, and Hamleys is in few locations and overpriced), you'd have thought they'd pick up a lot of the exclusives that Toys R Us used to have.

That said though, the range of products they carry isn't as big as Toy R Us had, even on their website.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Wan
Ian Malcolm
And all the Harry potter minifigs
are great

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Perhaps, but not all

Gravatar
By in Puerto Rico,

Dr. Malcolm! Hell yeah!

Gravatar
By in United States,

So, I'm curious, will just be in the few countries that had Toys R' Us stores that were a different entity entirely than the US TRUs, or will there be another chain carrying the sets here?

Gravatar
By in United States,

I'm wondering if these will be at any store in the United States. A few countries do still have Toys R' US, but it's because they were a different company entirely and thus immune to the bankruptcy.

Gravatar
By in United States,

I want the Harry Potter and Jurassic World one(only for Malcom). Hope these are easily available in the US though.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Rumors say we’ll get the Avengers one as a Lego Store promo in October. I imagine we’ll get the others ones in the US at some point too.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Here is a hint as to where these might end up. Since the closing of our local Toy's R Us stores, I have seen Speed Champions sets show up at Target stores. This was a Toy's R Us exclusive line and that might mean other TRU exclusives could end up at Target, or other retailers.

Gravatar
By in United States,

It is SOOO sad that I probably won't be able to get the HP one. I Dearly want it...

Gravatar
By in Finland,

I mean they won't be available in Finland so I can't get them (except for 40 euros a pack from Bricklink). Shame they limit such cool minifigures from smaller countries.

Gravatar
By in United States,

I hope that Avengers one comes to the US! I need that for my Infinity War Collection! The rest are just meh to me.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Fingers crossed for some official way of getting these in the UK. I only want the Ninjago set myself, but wouldn't want others to miss out on their choices.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Since they seem to have given Boggart Snape the CMF scarecrow hat I’m disappointed they didn’t add the crow piece to t to represent the stuffed vulture that is also supposed to be with that outfit

Gravatar
By in United States,

The choices for the Ninjago set seem a bit odd for me - why use the future Jay design that was retconned with the movie appearance? Why not give us casual Harumi, a figure that saw much more screentime and is way more desirable than Oni mask Harumi? Why give a random biker gang member instead of one of the missing Elemental Masters? The only one that’s a really desirable one is Kabuki Nya, something fans have been wanting for a while. As a Ninjago completionist, I’ll still have to get this, but it seems like a missed opportunity to get more interesting/better characters...

Gravatar
By in United States,

^Technic and Speed Champions have been showing up at my local Wal-Mart since TRU closed in the area to... so its clear the former TRU exclusives are heading out into the wild.

The Avengers and Harry Potter figure packs are must haves for me. Hope to hear word on the US release soon.

Gravatar
By in United States,

the JW pack is the least interesting by far

Gravatar
By in United States,

The Jurassic World set and Avengers sets are must haves. Harry Potter and Ninjago are easy passes.

Gravatar
By in Canada,

I'm guessing they'll come to TRU Canada.

Gravatar
By in United States,

I really hope they are not Target or Walmart exclusive to replace TRU. Both retailers here in my city never have any knowledge about exclusives or how to handle LEGO releases. They put out the HP sets a week early and they couldnt be rung up because of the Embargo. But had them on shelves. Neither stores knew about the HP minifigs and to this day have them in stock but havent put them out because the other themed sets havent moved/sold enough yet. This typically happens with every knew theme. Inifnity War was the last time this happened before HP. Enough ranting:

This really needs to be a GWP at the LEGO stores here in the US. Its done right and managed very well. Heres hoping LEGO pulls through.

Gravatar
By in Luxembourg,

They will be at Barnes an Noble in the US later this year.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Source for the US carrier being Barnes & Noble: https://twitter.com/LEGO_Group/status/1032306622465536001

I would much rather have had them handed by Lego stores, like JasonBricksHD, partly because the staff are so much better than those in generalist stores like Target, but also (admittedly selfishly) because it's a lot easier for me to get to one than to Walmart or Barnes & Noble. Hopefully the offer will extend online somehow.

Gravatar
By in United States,

I wish they'd make actual sets for older Ninjago seasons before the cruddy movie tainted the entire franchise.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

@Grizbe, indeed and (unless things have changed, which to be fair it might have..but last I heard) The Entertainer don't sell Harry Potter products due to the link of witchcraft to the occult, and their owner being an incredibly rigid Christian .

Surely gotta be Smyths in the UK. Harry Potter and MARVEL being absolute must haves for me.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Am I the only one disappointed that "sets" are really just minifigs? Was kind of hoping for something to play with.

Gravatar
By in Ireland,

Hopefully these appear in Smyths here in Ireland or on Shop @Home. I would really like that Harry Potter pack, and the Jurassic World one purely for Jeff Goldblum

Gravatar
By in United States,

I really hope I’ll be able to get these in the US! Please let us know when, where, and how we can buy these!

Gravatar
By in United States,

Totally thrilled! Hoping they get to the USA. I'm in for the JW and SH sets for sure. Wonder if Target will be the retailer that (most likely) gets these? LEGO has done some promo stuff with them before. Would be shocked if they get to Walmart.

Gravatar
By in United States,

According to Twitter, they will be available at Barnes & Noble stores later this year but no release date yet

Gravatar
By in United States,

UMBRIDGE!

Gravatar
By in United States,

Correction made on Twitter by Legogroup that only the HP set will be available at Barnes & Noble and more info on the others coming later.

Gravatar
By in Canada,

Only Ninjago for me I'm afraid: Don't care about Potter, Don't get Jurassic, and...if it were a DC set yeah, but NO (Hate Marvel). What weird this year though is 3/4 of the sets are 'flesh-toned', w/Ninjago being the exception.
Hope this isn't "the way" going forward, as I think a City set isn't so bad, maybe a non-property property; like if they'd done a Nexo Knights set (w/the reporters, maybe a training knight)...Donno, sets in the past seemed better than now (esp. with the fact they use to have 5 instead of 4 figs)...None the less: Brickobter!!!

Gravatar
By in Taiwan,

I’m not the biggest Marvel fan, so can someone tell me what the Marvel figs are (besides War Machine and Bucky)?

Gravatar
By in Australia,

@TK-421 There's James Rhodes (War Machine) in his Mk. 4 suit; Benedict Wong, Doctor Strange's magic compatriot, who has not appeared in minifigure form before; Tony Stark (Iron Man) in the suit he wears underneath his Mk. 50 armour in Infinity War; and Bucky Barnes, aka the Winter Soldier, aka the White Wolf.

All of the pieces on the figures are new prints, except for Bucky's hair, which has been used on previous versions of the character, Tony's hair, which is an existing piece but new for this character, and the pieces used to make War Machine's back-mounted gun, which is new for this iteration but are existing pieces.

Gravatar
By in United States,

With the recent release of 75932-1: Jurassic Park Velociraptor Chase that Ian Malcolm figure is highly desirable. Gotta get that.

And since Infinity War came out I've recently had a kick to collect all of the Avengers characters so that Marvel pack is perfect for filling in some gaps! Definitely have to get that!

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Unfortunately I think I'm going to have to try and get all of these. Although I think the Jurassic Park one is a bit of a con just including the baby T-Rex in place of a unique figure.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

We’re do I get these in the uk?

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

@shea42 and TK-421, a small correction - Dr Strange's magical compatriot is not called Benedict Wong, his name is simply Wong. Benedict Wong is the real name of the actor who plays him.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Man I love bricktober! as a ninjago fan, I wish they put a better figure in place of Mohawk, also, Just2good said that they would be coming out in Barnes and noble. dont know if thats true but its a possibility.

Gravatar
By in United States,

I wish they would make these a GWP directly from LEGO Shop @Home, and therefore make these available to everyone. Also, they should stretch out the availability to at least two weeks per set. It's hard to justify (especially to my wife) buying sets ea. week to collect every one. Although I realize that two weeks availability per set wouldn't really make it Bricktober anymore, but maybe it could be BrickFall...?

Gravatar
By in United States,

@LegoSolo77 would be nice, but they would probably run out of stock before they get through the first week anyway, so it wouldn't do much good extending it to two weeks.

Gravatar
By in United States,

I need y'all to help me: I need someone to explain to me please how Bricktober normally works. I live close to a B&N and I am IN LOVE with that Marvel pack, so, how much would it cost? When would it normally be released?

Gravatar
By in United States,

@rljf311: In past the USA Bricktober TRU minifig sets were a free gift with purchase (usually $80-100); surplus sets were sold after their promo week window at $20/pack—though some years you could find stores selling them without other purchase during their promo week window.

However yesterday I saw on Twitter a post from LEGO saying B&N only has the Potter set this year. The details of purchase and dates of promo are not yet disclosed.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Any information on the Barnes and Noble Harry Potter assortment in the US of A yet? I may have to become a pest at my local store...

Gravatar
By in United States,

The Marvel Infinity War set is a must-have! Latest War Machine/Rhodey, Wong, Tony Stark in nano-armor sweatsuit, and White Wolf Bucky. Basically, this set rounds out the whole 2018 IW series.
