Review: 40341 Sea Accessories
Posted by Huw,
The first Xtra polybags released last year were a welcome addition to LEGO's product range, providing hard-to-find parts in an inexpensive package which can be used to add details and play scenarios to other sets or your own MOCs.
It looks as LEGO has plans to continue the theme because another one, 40341 Sea accessories, is set for release in January.
Inside the polybag are an assortment of 24 parts with a beach or sea theme: animals, flippers, surf board, harpoon, treasure chest and so on.
There's not a lot of building to be done, just the buoy, so no instructions are provided.
The highlights of the bag are definitely the animals. The shark is fairly common, having appeared in around 21 sets. The fish has been found mostly in Ninjago/Ninjago Movie sets until now.
The parrot, however, is a rarity, although not endangered. The only sighting until now was in 2017 when it was spotted in 10255 Assembly Square. As well as being in this bag it will also be found in 10264 Corner Garage, in the vet's waiting room.
Verdict
Overall, a nice set of parts that are the perfect accompaniment to 60153 People Pack - Fun at the Beach.
Look out for it at shop.LEGO.com and in brand stores in January. I suspect it'll cost £3.99/$3.99.
Thanks to LEGO for providing the set for review. All opinions expressed are my own.

These sets are great. I hope Lego continue to release more of these.
Any idea what the next People Pack theme will be?
Has the upside down barrel and light saber hilt technique been used before?
Great news!! What I was hoping the "xstra" polybags would develop into is happening;
Animal battle-pack :D
Not the most exiting animals out there and it could had at least one more fish and maybe a seagull instead of the parrot, but it is a great start! What if we get "battle-packs" of farm animals, forest animals, jungle creatures etc that would be fantastic ;)
^ I'm very happy to see this theme continue as well. Unlikely we'll get full animal packs at this price but I'd be happy to pay more for a decent selection of animals.
Was wondering what the next People Pack could be and was struggling to think of anything, then suddenly thought of a school, a football stadium, inner city, mall, jungle, farm, etc. I've really enjoyed these packs so I hope the line hasn't ended.
These sets are so great.
Very much remind me of the accessories sets available in the Eighties.
Yesss more poly bags for xtra
Now we just need more Lego parts and doors in these polybags
Ooh a seagull would have been great. I don't really like the newer marbled parrots as much. Prefer the printed ones from way back in the 90s.
Need that buoy for my God of War build.
@shootvolio, I'm sure I can't be the first person to use it :)
Your parrot doesn’t look very well.
Nice addition
For "Sea Accessories" it is all rather piratey! Not sure how long the 'Fun at the Beach' will last when the shark turns up! Or that what the volleyball players were really missing was a harpoon! ;-)
It's a great pack of parts though. I quite like the marbled parrot, and I'm guessing it saves a lot of money instead of printing. Though I note the shark has printed eyes; in the past they were just dents.
I just wish we could get that surfboard in blue though, as it would go down a treat on spaceship wingtips!
What would have been really good though, in either the beach pack or this one, would be the Collectible Spy's hairpiece with a mask & snorkel visor. It works brilliantly.
^^ My Norwegian Blue is just sleeping! :)
Looks awesome! I bought some of the first wave of xtra sets, Great parts packs, and would very likely buy more if they released them!
@Lego, we need more animal packs! Thanks! How about a zoo pack?
^ "Fun at the Zoo" sounds pretty good. You'd have less people, but my gosh, Lego has so many different types of animals these days that it would work.
I also love the idea of these little accessory packs! Hope it becomes a thing, especially with more little critters, or plants.
Quite nice. Too bad these aren't readily available in regular stores.
I like this one however i have most of the items included in it other than the blue & yellow parrot, i have 2 extras sets from the first batch and they are great hope lego make more maybe vehicle parts or fancy dress stuff, Musical instruments would be nice to see aswell..
this set fits to my collection of ninjago pirates
Love this and all the extra packs like it. Keep it up lego!
Where are these available at? Lego brand stores?
It's definitely a Norwegian Blue!
Luckily it is not pining for the fjords ;-)
Another nice Xtra pack, althoug wish they could've squeezed in the large shark. I've got none of those and bucket load of the smaller ones. How about a Farm Xtra's set? A cow, couple of pigs, and a few other bits... I just really want a cow and don't want to spend 20.00 on one :)
Nice extra pieces, which I'll pick up. Shane they didn't include the actual harpoon piece they used to make. I hope we get a Western themed one next.
@Huw.. Your parrot is no more, it has ceased to be...
I was thinking for the next people pack, a sports theme. Plenty of families take part in sports and some good parts to be had. Love these xtra packs too.
Don't like this one, very random parts, have already a few sharks as well. I'm expecting something like the 80/90's like Lego did on previous Xtra's, such as plants, traffic lights... Maybe we'll get road signs on the next one, it would be so useful and nostalgic!
I think a "road signs" pack would be great to see.
A bunch of the road sign bases then the signs in square, round, triangle and octagonal in whatever colors make sense and a sticker sheet full of different road sign stickers (since a single sticker sheet would be cheaper than printing all those different road signs).
I would buy a road signs pack in a heartbeat.
^ Only one? ;)
So I'm not the only one who stores old fish in wooden trunks with paper products and stuff that doesn't get along with moisture? Good to know.
I have two each of the others, but got four of these today.
I really hope there will be one with a gator at some point.
