New Jurassic World sets revealed!
Posted by TheBrickPal,
LEGO has just released the following information ahead of New York Toy Fair tomorrow:
Universal brand development and the LEGO Group create new Jurassic World adventures with “LEGO Jurassic World: Legend of Isla Nublar"
Expanded partnership features four new construction sets revealed for the first time at New York Toy Fair, based on an original, animated mini-series coming later this year.
Universal Brand Development (Universal) and the LEGO Group today announced an exciting expansion to the popular LEGO Jurassic World portfolio of toys and content: a new building sets assortment inspired by an all-new, animated mini-series – LEGO Jurassic World: Legend of Isla Nublar. Following the adventures of Claire, Owen and fan-favorite dinosaurs seen in the 2018 animated specials, LEGO Jurassic World: The Secret Exhibit, this new mini-series runs 13 episodes and will debut later this year.
Set in 2012, three years before the events of the Jurassic World movie, LEGO Jurassic World: Legend of Isla Nublar picks up where the story left off from LEGO Jurassic World: The Secret Exhibit. Newly hired animal behaviorist Owen Grady and Assistant Manager of Park Operations Claire Dearing team up on Isla Nublar to deal with everything hectic life around the Jurassic World park throws their way. And “everything” includes runaway dinosaurs, ongoing construction to expand the park, tourists everywhere unpredictable tropical weather, and an impulsive boss! Plus, a mysterious saboteur with surprising ties to the park’s past is on a quest to find a legendary treasure and destroy Jurassic World forever! What could possibly go wrong? Everything.
“The box office and retail success of 2018 proved Jurassic World is the definitive dinosaur brand,” said Vince Klaseus, president of Universal Brand Development. “This year we’re focused on continuing to expand the Jurassic World story through always-on content and new experiences for fans of all ages. Our partnership with the LEGO Group allows us to do just that and more.”
Building on the success of the 2018 LEGO Jurassic World offering, the LEGO Group will globally launch four building sets that take the storytelling and role play opportunity beyond the blockbuster film year, giving fans the chance to bring new adventures, characters and dinosaurs home for even more play. The sets will hit shelves this fall, and are displayed in the LEGO booth #1335 in Hall 3B of the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center from February 16-19.
“Jurassic World is one of those properties that just works so well in LEGO form,” said Jill Wilfert, vice president, licensing & entertainment for LEGO Group. “The theme and stories appeal to kids and adults at the same time, and with this content, we offer a fun and unique twist by adding LEGO creativity and humor to an evergreen property. We’re thrilled to expand our successful partnership with Universal to introduce more original LEGO Jurassic World stories that will inspire imaginations and continued play.”
The sets are as follows:
- 75934 Dilophosaurus on the Loose
- 75935 Baryonyx Face-Off: The Treasure Hunt
- 75937 Triceratops Rampage
- 75938 T. rex vs Dino-Mech Battle
You can view them all in the database here.

Wow.... those are bleh.
These are absolutely crazy, and I love it! It's not like the show can be any worse than the most recent film, so it might even be worth a watch
These look great! Love the tie-in with the animated series, and getting to explore more JW before the events of JP4. New tiny dilo! New baby raptor prints, new Baryonyx, and the return of the Triceratops!!!
Triceratops! I'm sold on that one for sure. Any new dinos make for a real temptation when it comes to JW sets. Not surprised by yet another Dilophosaurus and T-Rex.
sweet triceratops but no way i'll spend $60 on that. i'll buy it loose on bricklink instead
Definite purchases for me - i love dinosaurs! :-)
I don't really like em
'cept fer dat totes legit squanky T-rex
cus dat bean b squanky.
I love how the colour scheme of the dino-mech matches the Ford Explorer from Jurassic Park.
I'm really into the dino-mech, whether that's a thing in the movies or not.
Oh, not what I have expected.
What is this Legend of Isla Nublar thing? Never heard before.
Unfortunatelly the sets looks like a random (but fun) Dino play theme for kids, just with a Jurassic stamp on them to increase the price.
I dont like the volcano and Trex mech set, but all the baby versions of Blue, Charlie, Delta, Echo are in there, that's neat. And what's with the raft? Is that lava proof or what? Why brickbuilt?
I like the 3 other sets.
The treasure hunt one is probably the worst..
Triceratops is awesome! Not sure about the other sets, but I will always welcome new dinosaurs
More licensed stuff... No thanks!
I'm surprised, I thought we were going to get a Visitor's Center from the first movie but I'll probably still get these as I am a Jurassic Park fan and although they are aimed directly towards kids...
Wow, these actually look really great! Not just the dinosaurs, but the themepark builds as well. I especially love the dinosaur egg merry-go-round.
The dinos themselves are amazing as well, though. It's great they're introducing new kinds this way.
I think they look pretty cool.. and certainly have potential, especially the big jeep with trailer and the dino mech, cool stuff!
yes!
That T-Rex mech is the dumbest thing I've ever seen in my life and dear god do I absolutely love it to bits.
I think the target audience will like these. They’re wacky and cool at the same time.
Super disappointed. Would rather have some original trilogy Park sets. Here's to hoping the D2C is the visitor's center from the first film.
As they are, the sets are certainly original, but I just don't like them. T-rex mech has no place in Jurassic Park. Cool for a Lego IP, just not for JP.
Raptor Pen, Original Rex Paddock, Spinosaur with plane, those I could get behind. These, not so much.
I do however, like the new Trike, Baryonyx, and Dilo. Some of the side builds look cool, mainly the kiosk.
I don't care about Jurassic World, BUT I WANT THAT DINO MECH!!!
Loving the use of ice picks on the T-Rex mech, and not at all surprised to see a "flavour of the year" Quad-copter-drone thing in the mix!
It's a shame we can't just have a dino theme and reduce the prices slightly with no licence fees to pay. Especially as these have nothing to do with the movies.
me @ the mech: weird flex but okay
and still no Stegasaurus
Yes! Finally a triceratops that won’t be a ridiculous amount! BrickLink has em for 40 dollars last time I checked. Might be different now. Jurassic sets build wise are always lame. I just get them for the Dinos.
These are crazy but can we look that we will be getting a Triceraptops and Barionyx finally along eith the rest of the raptor pack? That volcano build looks crazy in a good way but I'll concentrate on getting the two sets with dinos I don't have.
75934 and 75935 are pretty cool.
Triceratops! Tick. Rest of it? Huh.
Quadcopters are the new helicopters!
Triceratops set is my favourite by far..
These definitely look like interesting sets, but it's a shame that we won't be getting sets from the first three films. :-(
Aside for some cool dinosaurs, these look like playsets deliberately made for people who aren't like me, so this is an easy pass for me.
Taking these as non-licensed Jurassic sets really helps. The designs are so out-there, I can't group them into the franchise.
With that out of the way, they actually look pretty cool. Triceratops (finally!), Baryonyx, a new Dilophosaurus, and a Mecha T-rex? You got my attention. I'll probably be buying them all!
Hoping the D2C is JP themed. I do like that kiosk a lot and the mech Rex is cool.
So apparently the dude driving the T-Rex mech is "Danny Nedermeyer?"
Devious, with glasses and a Hawaiian shirt?
That's Dennis Nedry, and we all know it! :P
Some of them look like fun, with some very nice dinos.... but whoa.... people complain about Star Wars sets being overpriced... these seem worse to me.
I feel like a fully orignal dinosaur IP or sets based of the first three JP films would of been better, but these look nice! I especially like the set with a huge mecha T. rex and all four of the baby raptors, seems like the crazy over the top kinda thing I love seeing LEGO do.
60$? look like 20$ sets
A surprise, to be sure, but a welcome one.
Gosh, just give us the Ford Explorer from JP. It would sell like hot cakes.
Yay! All four baby Velociraptors. Dreams do come true!
All the dinosaurs look cool so that's enough to add them all to my wanted list. Other than that they are... unexpected. Best reserve judgement until I've seen the animated series, I think. I like the look of the Triceratops Rampage as it is though.
I hope we get some more classic Jurassic Park sets.
Wow. I don't get these. I'd love some OG Jurassic Park sets, like jeeps, the Visitor's Center, the aviary, Plane and Spino, the Stegosaurus stampede, the Trailer and cliff... but these?
I "love" that the Baryonx is literally only a new head mold, the rest is just the Indoraptor.
The new dilophosaur is interesting. I'm not feeling these ones, they're just not for me.
The $20 set is looking like something I could easily buy, that new dilophosaurus does look great! I might consider the $40 set, the price isn’t so bad when you consider the enormous triceratops. However, so many other great sets are coming out that I likely will choose something else.
Based on the triceratops set I predict the next fairground set will be a spinning teacups-esque ride
Godzilla vs. Mecha Godzilla?
why not the movie
I only want "Dilophosaurus on the Loose"
I really hope this aren’t the Jurassic World sets we’ve been waiting for.
@Anak and @Brainslugged: I don't think the license really affects the price much at all. Believe it or not, the non-licensed Dino theme from 2012 had sets with higher prices per piece than any of the Jurassic World sets to date: 14.7 cents for an average set, with a maximum of a whopping 18.4 cents per piece for 5885-1 !
Ultimately the high prices seem to have a lot more to do with how expensive it is to manufacture big, intricately molded and printed dinosaur parts that only ever show up in a handful of sets. I suspect the only way LEGO could release minifig-scale dino sets at a more reasonable price per piece and still make money on them would be with more heavily brick-built dinosaurs, like the dragons, dinosaurs, and other big creatures in LEGO Ninjago, LEGO Elves, and LEGO Creator 3-in-1.
And in fact, I'll bet the reason for a brick-built raft in that one set is to make up for the diminished building experience and heightened price per piece that are inherent to sets with big, specialized molded parts. A floating boat hull like the ones that show up so often in City would just increase the price per piece and diminish the building experience even further.
@night13flyer: You're REALLY kidding yourself there… low piece counts aside, the Baryonyx and Triceratops are easily as big as a $10 set made with more typical parts might be, and the sets' non-dino contents could easily make up a $20–$30 set all on their own!
Anyway, I don't care at all for the Jurassic World brand or theme, but it's fun to see designs in this theme get a little more wacky and imaginative. I'm sure many AFOLs who have been experience mech fatigue are groaning at the T-Rex mech, but it seems to be a pretty creative and cool-looking build in its own right. It's also amusing to see more stuff focusing on amusement park type kiosks and attractions.
And I'm sure many people will appreciate more variety in dinos, even though they're still hampered by the way the Jurassic Park/Jurassic World movies since the first one have overwhelmingly failed to keep up to date with current science of what real dinosaurs looked like, and the way that's likewise stifled the average person's expectations of how dinosaurs should look in media.
Wow, these are crazy! I won't hesitate to buy the smallest one. The Triceratops is also really cool, but it will be overpriced, as always.
Is it just me or did they forget to push the Baryonyx's head down?
Is that Dennis Nedry?
Jurassic Park sets with good designs?! What!!!!
I'm not a Jurassic fan by any means but these look good?!?!
Loving the dino mech. Now I just need to convince myself that I need the whole set to get it.
@Aanchir There comes no justification in the price of Lego from the cost of production, which is minimal for that bit of plastic.
Many JP sets just don't feel worth their money for me. They (sometimes) have a nice dinosaur but not much else. Like the Triceratops here. Why exactly do you get a carousel with it?
The smaller Dilo is nice btw. I hope we will get a reasonable sized raptor in the future too.
But the Baryonyx doesn't even get it's large claws.
Darnit... they got me at Mecha T-rex....
@dylanmitchell I think it's "a mysterious saboteur with surprising ties to the park’s past" called (according to the Lego set description on brothers-brick) "Danny Nedermeyer", with a "soda can element". Hmmm.
@wasn, you can't possibly say there's no justification in the price in relation to production costs. None of us can really, but it's held true for a long, long time that sets with bigger, molded parts command a higher price tag.
For a moment there I thought these were gonna be based on the next JP movie. Would've been kinda wild if it had a dino mech in it.
I like these sets more than I thought I would. The jeep is great.
Also, now that they gave the mech THAT color scheme, you know they have to do an original JP set with the Ford Explorer...
The Jurassic Park fan in me is dying. These look amazing! That one figure HAS to be Dennis Nedry, and the new models for the Dilophosaurus and the Baryonx are incredible! That Baryonx Head mold has my gut thinking Spinosaurus in the future!
For better or worse, these sets look like the weird Jurassic Park: Chaos Effect Kenner toys, which were planned to have a TV show in 1997 but it was cancelled.
Also, I'm astounded they are making JW an evergreen theme considering how the franchise fell on its face last year.
These are weird!
^^ Fell on its face? You mean a movie (a very good one, to me, anyway) that made $1.3 billion worldwide caused a franchise to fall on its face? Good one...
Looks like my streak of never purchasing any Jurassic sets will remain intact.
I feel like the Mecha-Rex could almost be converted into the classic jeep with those parts.
Good parts for a Jurassic Jeep moc in the T. rex mech
Love to see the Triceratops back.
For those of you asking about Danny Nedermeyer, in The Secret Exhibit he was revealed to be Dennis Nedry's nephew.
And yes, he plans to carry on his uncle's footsteps...
These sets are fine, it's always good to see a licensed theme embrace the LEGO aspect of it and go wild. Although their decision of using the Fallen Kingdom designs for Owen and Claire even though it's a prequel to JW still baffles me, it's both consistent with The Secret Exhibit and logical from a business standpoint...
Love it.
Sets look really interesting and although I agree with almost everything Aanchir said above, I don’t agree with the disappointment about dinosaurs not matching scientific evidence. The films inherently have a level of fantasy involved by being able to clone the dinosaurs from remains in amber, and they have the technology to edit and refine DNA - so I always though of it as deliberate that InGen make the dinosaurs they know people want to see and expect - well in the story anyway. Any worry that it’s tainting the public’s image of ‘real’ dinosaurs could be easily rectified by a scene where a scientist explicitly says “Oh, they won’t have looked like this - but it’s what the visitors want”. Universal haven’t done this yet though.
@wasn: The amount of plastic isn't the sole issue here. Dino parts like these tick nearly all of the boxes for stuff that adds to the manufacturing cost of an individual part. They include parts molded with recesses on multiple parts (requiring two-part molds with sliders), parts with 2K or co-injected plastic colors, parts with elaborate multicolor printing on multiple surfaces, parts with a combination of different plastic materials, and/or parts that require larger packaging and thus higher distribution costs… and then each finished element is typically exclusive to one or two sets which have to offset all those costs, instead of being shared between many different sets and themes like a more typical brick. It's a small mercy to people's wallets that they didn't give them some kind of crazy Mindstorms or Powered Up style electronic functions on top of everything else!
And, like, have you looked at the prices of competing dinosaur toys? Mattel's "Attack Pack" raptor action figure (https://amazon.com/dp/B076QCW6J4) has only five points of articulation, is around five inches in length (similar to the LEGO raptors), and is made from oily-looking plastic even in the official photos. Naturally, it also doesn't need any kind of precision molding to ensure its parts connect securely and consistently with parts from other toys. And the RRP, as best I can tell from Mattel's own site, is $7.99.
Even the smaller parts used in the side builds of the LEGO sets (many of which still aren't tiny stuff like 1x1 plates and cheese slopes) can hardly be expected to pull the price down enough to bring them close to10 cents per piece. But having the carousel and other builds does, in the very least, turn these into playsets with some more varied play features and a moderately engaging building experience, whereas without them they'd pretty much be action figures, with little more "LEGO" about them than a Galidor set.
But more importantly, whether or not you believe the costs to LEGO can be enough to justify the price, the bigger point I was making is that most sets with these types of big, specialized, set- or theme-specific creature elements tend to have had a higher-than-average price per piece whether they're from a popular movie license or not — so it doesn't make much sense to blame the Jurassic World license for these sets being priced like this one way or another.
I assume that danny nedermeyer is related to dennis neddry.
@The Rancor- there was a scene exactly like that in Jurassic World, where Dr. Wu tells Masrani that nothing in the park is real and that the dinosaurs would look very different if they were scientifically accurate. He goes on to tell Masrani that he's the one who asked for "cooler dinosaurs with more teeth" rather than scientifically accurate creatures.
The dinosaurs are neat but, boy, is the value proposition low compared to all the other "Explorer" lines of City sets - Jungle, Arctic, etc.
That dino-mech is ridiculous and I love it.
The treasure-hunt set looks pretty weak, I'll grant you ... but the Baryonyx! I wants it just for that. I never did get a Carnotaurus, and I feel like I could use a few more predators.
I can nitpick the new dinosaurs (Triceratops color is off, Baryonyx foot claw go away) but for the most part, thrilled by the choices. I found the Fallen Kingdom roster a little disappointing so it's great to see a juvenile Dilophosaurus, the long-awaited Triceratops return, and Baryonyx, one of my favorite dinos, all finally here! I feel plain spoiled.
I'm confident more Classic JP stuff will come later, so I won't mourn a loss on that.
@Aanchir Of course larger and more complex parts cost more to produce, but they especially are worth more for us customers, both in play and in display values.
About the carousel: Of course Lego shouldn't be just a large pice of plastic to play with, but a construction toy. (If you look at the comments most people would buy a 50?€ set to get the Triceratops.) But why a fairground-building? The parts would be better used in some sort of vehicle, or a larger fence (Although I couldn't justify buyng the Dilo-set that contains nothing but a piece of fence as building) or even some laboratory-stuff.
The Baryonyx and Triceratops are amazing. And my boys will looooove the T-rex mech!
Man we have been getting bombarded with set leaks and pics recently. NY toy fair is the best.
75934 Minifigures are pretty great here, and the Dilophosaurus looks nice to me. I don't like the robot build, but the shop side build is great and I love the Indiana Jones hats as I don't see those in sets so much. Price is also the only one that is good.
75935 Baryonyx looks great here. The side build with the trees is also nice. I usually don't care for vehicles but I do like the look of the Jeep and trailer. The VHS tapes is awesome and could make me buy this set. This might be y favorite of the wave.
75937 Ok this one is great too. The Triceratops looks awesome and the builds here are so we'll done. I love the little entrance and the ride attraction. I may have to take away what I said about the last set. This may be my favorite. The problem with both of these sets though is the bad prices.
75938 This is the biggest and without a doubt ?worst set. The Trex mech is awful and ugly, and the other builds don't do much.
Overall I wish we would have gotten more sets from the first 3 movies but I like these sets. 2 are great, 1 is halfway good, and one just sucks. Excited to see the D2C.
No Jurassic Park sets!!!!!!! ARE YOU KIDDING ME!!!
Like the Triceratops set on many levels, couldn't care less about the rest.
Would much prefer some sets based on the original JP movie. Everything that followed just went downhill imho. One of those films that just didn't need any follow-ups.
