Review: 40350 Easter Chick

BrickHeadz fans have had slim pickings this year with only a handful of seasonal sets and the four LEGO Movie 2 ones, that only the lucky few could purchase, released so far.

The latest of the former, 40350 Easter Chick, is available from shop.LEGO.com in North America and is now making its way into stores in Europe in good time for Easter.

So, let's enjoy them while we still can...

To be honest there's not much to say about the chick since it's pretty much a boilerplate BrickHeadz with just a few embellishments here and there.

Nevertheless, it certainly looks like you'd expect a chick to appear when given the BrickHeadz treatment. I'm not entirely convinced by the feet but I can't think of a better solution.

The 1x1 modified plate that looks like a tooth makes an effective feather and their use on the front and back help break up the otherwise plain body.

The base is perhaps more interesting than the figure, in particular the two minifig heads used as the heads of the flowers, The flame yellowish orange one is unique to this set and the lavender one has appeared in just two others. Collectors of monochrome minifigs may well find their inclusion as reason enough to buy the set.

The bright yellowish green grass and 1x1 flowers and not common, either.

The greens of the foliage and bright colours of the flowers help make it a very attractive set and one that I think BrickHeadz fans will be glad to add to their collection.

By in United States,

I think that more tooth plates should have been put on there. A chick doesn’t just have four feathers on the front!! Definitely not the best brickheadz in the world, but an effective effort.

I’m curious how a chick of that size can come from such a small egg which is shown in the surrounding scenery... ;)

Good review btw.

Has anyone seen these in Lego stores? Huw did you get this from a shop?

I keep hearing that Brickheadz are going away, but then they keep introducing them instead of the long-lost Minifig vignette seasonal sets.

PromoBricks reported that it had been found in LEGOLAND Discovery Centre Berlin, I believe it was.

I bought it in Billund.

I love the LEGO movie 2 reference.
“four LEGO Movie 4 ones”. It was for the LEGO Movie 2 but I hope there is a fourth one!

By in United States,

Interesting that the boilerplate BrickHeadz link goes to an older post that has 2 MOC BrickHeadz of Lucy and Benny.

It’s been in legoland Windsor for a week (unfortunately I can’t get there to buy it lol).

I picked up two from LEGOLAND Discovery Centre Birmingham last weekend. However, stock seemed to be limited.

This actually looks really good, some great parts as well! I probably won't get it though.

Huw's exploded view Black Widow (see boilerplate link) is still one of my favorite things of all time.

Nothing more, nothing less.

By in Netherlands,

While this looks nicer then most Brickheadz, I do hope for some seasonal minifig sets next year.

I got mine from a Lego store in Texas. They had a good quantity of them and I really do enjoy this set. Adds some festive colors to me collection.

This is classified in the database -- and mentioned in the review -- as being a "seasonal" BrickHeadz release. I noticed, however, as building it, that it lacked the 2x4 flat plate (https://brickset.com/parts/6212341/flat-tile-2x4-no-151) with the seasonal printing that has previously accompanied "actual" seasonal releases (e.g., Easter Bunny). Similarly, the box/instructions are similarly missing the "seasonal" stamp. Just an observation.
