By in Serbia,

Holy purple windows, Batman!

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Not sure I'm convinced by the horntail's head - is that the piece same piece that was used on the Occamy from Newt's case?

Gravatar
By in Serbia,

@Sammael
No Friends sets were harmed in the making of this set.

Hagrid's hut looks like a fun, cute build! I haven't bought a single HP set since 2001 (come to think of it, that might have been my first set ever), but I'm seriously considering this one just for the Hagrid bigfig and the pumpkins.

Knight Bus looks as plain and boring as the one they made in 2005 (or whenever).

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Such a dull IP. Sets look okayish though.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Nice sets but way overpriced for me. Makes it easier to avoid tho, so no bad thing...

Gravatar
By in Canada,

I like the look of the sets, altho I don't collect HP. I am really hoping the pumpkins pop up in other themes and sets and that the deer mold gets used for other sets, too, like maybe a camping set.

Gravatar
By in New Zealand,

The Knight Bus uses the Speed Champion mudguards and wheels. Might have to get one to go on my SC layout then.

Gravatar
By in Singapore,

RIP train windows and glass

The switch to these rectangular window frames has got to be the single biggest undoing of this generation's Hogwarts Express and Knight Bus. They take so much detail and character away from both vehicles. But at least they did manage to cram many MANY more windows into the Knight Bus!

The roof of Hagrid's hut looks so odd. Are its proportions consistent with the depiction in the books? It certainly isn't consistent with the films, or previous releases of Hagrid's hut.

Gravatar
By in Germany,

New 3-wide windows on the bus? Kinda nice, but using a 2-wide panel where a 2-wide window should be? Cheap! And not using rounded ´train-style windows isn't nice either.

Except from that, the other sets are rather good, with a strange combination of some being overpriced and some not...

Gravatar
By in Australia,

Seems like Brickset's Wizarding World category is merged back into the Harry Potter category.

Gravatar
By in Germany,

These are great, the medium legs look a bit weird.

Gravatar
By in Belgium,

I love the fact that the tower connects to the other 2 minifig scale castle parts.

Gravatar
By in United States,

@Huw they also announce the Harry Potter Advent calendar. Dont see any mention of it here.

Gravatar
By in Australia,

I think we can definitely say goodbye to train windows.

I much preferred the Hagrid's Hut and Knight Bus that came out, in the last range (and lord knows, the last Hogwart's Express was better than the piano-accordian engine that came out last year), but ... and I know it's absurdly over-priced ... but I'm definitely picking up the Expecto Patronum set.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

The executioner appears to be Papa Lazarou

Gravatar
By in United States,

Santa will be bringing me and my daughter the HP Advent calendar!! Looking forward to having my own Knight Bus!

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

That clock tower is going to look great in my town, right next to my Great Hall Church!

Gravatar
By in United States,

These all look fantastic to me and they are all a must buy, as was the first wave. Thanks for the news!

Gravatar
By in United States,

I never thought Lego would produce a minifigure it calls “the executioner” in the description.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Fantastic sets, I particularly love the knight bus and Hagrids Hut, also the advent calender looks fun snd apparently theres a build your own adventure book coming soon might grab that aswel, See what fun builds that brings..

Overall Amazing updated lego sets,
But wheres the Burrow and Diagon Alley?

Gravatar
By in Puerto Rico,

The Hagrids Hut is a really dark one, so interesting that LEGO pulled that one off.

Gravatar
By in Germany,

another knight bus? must be the third version now.... looks like the source material is running out.
But then again there are probably a dozen Millenium Falcons. Oh well...

Gravatar
By in Australia,

Im usually a huge Star Wars collector but im so excited for these sets. I cant wait to addem to last years. ima need another set of shelves

Gravatar
By in Sweden,

An advent calendar?! That was long ago we had a similar thing (non city SW friends- calendar). Other than that only the bus interests me

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

After seeing the unofficial picture of the sets I was wandering what the other set was.... I was not expecting an Advent calendar but I think it will not be only my daughter that will have an advent calendar this year :):):)

Gravatar
By in United States,

Holy smokes! I want them all. My wallet gonna take a beating with all of these beautiful sets. I do feel a bit iffy about the Hungarian Horntail one though. For such a big part in the 4th movie, you think they could have done more than 296 pieces. Maybe add some fans and a stadium.

Gravatar
By in Australia,

I appreciate the listing of Aussie prices. Thank-you!

Gravatar
By in Switzerland,

The dragon set is a bit vanilla for the price, but the others look pretty reasonably priced and well made.
Silly me, I thought after seeing the lackluster SW sets this year I'll spare some money but these are all tempting...damn you LEGO!!! :D

Gravatar
By in United States,

An advent calendar, too? Wow!

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Any thoughts on order of the phoenix/half blood prince sets, probably the burrows, Dolores Umbridge office, department of mysteries

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Expecto is $20/£20.
Knight Bus is $40/£35.
Advent is $40 and according to my Lego pre-order form rrp is £25.

Strange pricing.

Gravatar
By in Poland,

No special, christmas version of any character in Advent Calendar? :(
Sweaters don't count

Gravatar
By in Canada,

Good Lord, I missread the prices thinking the price listed was for the picture above not below... almost had a heart attack!

Gravatar
By in United States,

Did the pictures of the Summer Minecraft sets drop?

I haven’t bought Harry Potter in years (They got repetitive and I entered a dark age, I guess), but I’m wanting Expecto Patronum and Hungarian Horntail Triwizard Challenge. But with Friends successfully rebounding from the early 2019 sets and Hidden Inside and my Minecraft loving children, we’ll see...

Gravatar
By in United States,

The Clock Tower's the best one IMO.

Gravatar
By in United States,

The last bus had awful purple variations that ELGO better have gotten under control with this new release.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Is that a teal brick separator? Might have to get that set.

I bet the Advent Calendar sells quickly.

Gravatar
By in Belgium,

I'm excited. Pricing seems okay for the sets, maybe Hagrids Hut is a bit expensive but then there's quite a nice selection of figs in each one. Operation save all my LEGO funds till summer (already got my Disney CMF pre-ordered) has started.

Gravatar
By in United States,

I really like that they're offering these. My kids have been trying to design a Knight Bus for a while, I'm ecstatic about the castle addition, Hagrid's hut looks to be a great addition, and the Christmas set will be fun for that time of year.

But.

- The horntail is disappointing. In the movie, the creature was bristling with horn-like protrusions.
- The patronus set is fairly limited. Two trees, a transparent stag and some mini-figs? Play with that won't last very long.
- Why doesn't the hut include Dumbledore? His presence there was paramount, between the misdirection and the witty statements. Also, the pumpkins should be much bigger - perhaps brick-built, so that one of them can be sliced open.

But sure, ok, I'll probably end up having to buy all of them in spite of this.

Gravatar
By in Poland,

I think they cram way too much figs in these.
Hagrid hut should skip both Potter and Wesley for example

Gravatar
By in United States,

Is this the return of medium-sized legs?!

Gravatar
By in Sweden,

Shouldn’t Buckbeak's Rescue have double the kids to make it faithful to the movie? Isn’t that how they rescued him?

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Does anyone know what polybags will follow these larger sets? Because so far theres only one from earlier on in the year which is Harry's journey to Hogwarts ...

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Advent Calendar! Advent Calendar! Advent Calendar! Advent Calendar!
YES YES YES YES YES.........

Gravatar
By in United States,

Expecto Patronum for $20?! Now that's a must buy.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Well this is gonna be my second LEGO Advent Calendar for sure.

@Nordbart One of the most demanded things I've seen from fans out of this new run was another Knight Bus, so they're probably just really popular. Besides, it's been around a decade since we got one, and they usually just do one KB per reboot (and by extension, style change) of the theme. Compare that to a new X-Wing every 3 years and it's actually kind of impressive.

Gravatar
By in United States,

I'll probably get Expecto Patronum just for the pieces/ figures/ patronus, but I already have older versions of everything else. They look cool for people who missed previous waves though.

Gravatar
By in Hungary,

3x3x1 windows?! Ooooh, give us those pieces in other colors NOW! :D I was literally thinking about 3x3x1 windows a couple of weeks ago when I made some plans for a MOC... and now those will be reality - awesome!

Gravatar
By in Denmark,

Compared to the source material the windows in the new Knight bus look ABSOLUTELY ridiculous.

Expecto ridiculus!! (Go away and never come back)

Gravatar
By in United States,

The Executioner looks way too cheerful.

Gravatar
By in United States,

yay, finally

Gravatar
By in Ireland,

My Wife and me are busting our sides at expecto ridiculus but She's really into HP but not enough to let me at lego versions , ah well back to sneaky buys

Gravatar
By in Belgium,

7 figures in the advent calendar???!!! So happy! Getting all of these sets!

Gravatar
By in United States,

Can someone explain the window snobbery to me? I looked up images of the Knight Bus on Google, and I think the LEGO set looks pretty great.

Gravatar
By in Norway,

I hope the Flitwick in the calendar is the version from the first two films!

Gravatar
By in Australia,

These are lovely, especially the clocktower and Hagrid’s hut. My daughter is aiming to collect all the sets but I will also pick up a few and I am certain my son will want the horntail.

Gravatar
By in United States,

I want them all!!....but will wait for sale...

Gravatar
By in United States,

I'll still get the knight bus, but I prefer the previous version from 2011. That and the Express are the only two sets still intact. I'll have to find room for these sets now too. The figures look great. I hope the figures in the advent calendar aren't repeats from cmf. That Dumbledore looks like a repeat already. And $40 is always a ridiculous price for those advent calendar.

Gravatar
By in United States,

If I’m not mistaken, zooming in the shrunken head looks like an actual minifig head which is cool.

@truck730 “sneaky buys”- I feel attacked. We gotta do it sometimes though!

Gravatar
By in United States,

I just hope that stag/deer/elk thing comes in non-transparent options eventually!

Gravatar
By in United States,

@LegoSonicBoy:
I bought 20 copies of the second KB, so I think I'm good on windows. Anyways, the real KB has six windows per row on the upper two decks, but the windows should be wider than they are tall. This needs less window, and more purple. However, they did do twin front windows on the upper decks, they angled the uppermost front windows back, and the got the curve on the back of the roof correct. The window under that curve is all wrong, though. Er, make that windows.

@HugeYellowBrick:
They should just change the color every year and people would actually care about the things again.

@ericjohn:
Really look at the shape of the windows. A real Routemaster (which is what they chopped up to make the Knight Bus for filming) has train-style windows. The corners are rounded, not square. They're wider than they are tall. Many (but not all) are sash windows so you can open them for ventilation. They did a much better job with the overall shape of the bus, but the windows do look pretty bad. Fortunately, they already made dark-purple train windows, so that's a fairly easy fix. Well, for most people. I've got a minifig-scale 8-wide Routemaster built, and I want to adapt that into the Knight Bus. The problem is, I can't find good reference photos of the upper interior.

Gravatar
By in Czechia,

Wow, finally a new type of calender. Not only City, SW and friends. Could be nice to buy one.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Am I the only one who really wants a prof. Lockhart figure remake? I thought he would be in the advent calender but nope.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

There's going to be a thousand of those stags on Bricklink by 2 June.

Gravatar
By in Indonesia,

I'm not a big Harry Potter fan, but really like the Night Bus!

Gravatar
By in United States,

This whole wave is a lot better than it feels for me, despite being a longtime LEGO Potter fan. A lot of the sets are good, the builds are solid, and the minifigure selection is fine, but I've never been wild about "Goblet of Fire" which feels like the bigger focus for minifigures here. My favorite theme has to focus on my least favorite subtheme, so to speak.

While I certainly love the Clock Tower as the flagship set of the wave, it's a real shame that neither the Shrieking Shack nor Graveyard Battle are represented. Adding to the previous skip of the Chamber of Secrets, it feels as if LEGO is avoiding revisiting the climaxes of these films for some reason.

I hate how critical I'm about to sound; I'm happy the series is continuing all the same and glad to see a theme I love back on shelves even if I'm growing a little apart from it.

Expecto Patronum - This is a solid little set and an easy buy, with a new Harry variant, two of the new Dementors, and a good value for a cheap set these days. Sirius is a marvelous minifigure in so many ways, and I can see why they selected that heirpiece, but I still favor the Snape/Thor piece for him.

Hungarian Horntail Triwziard Challenge - This is a really difficult one for me, though definitely a solid buy. The dragon seems like a cool build in a lot of ways, and I like that it's not overly elaborate, but I have to agree that it doesn't really resemble a Hungarian Horntail from the film.

Hagrid's Hut - The previous edition is one of my favorite sets, and while what they do bring to the table is nice, being much smaller and only half built feels like a massive step down given the price jump. It's a lot more money for much less of a hut. I'll have to bricklink the gorgeous new Buckbeak though, and possibly Hermione and/or Fudge.

Knight Bus - I'm very happy for those who wanted a new version of this set, but it's never been something I've wanted or needed.

Clock Tower - The exterior looks gorgeous, for one thing, and it's only been visited once before. The interior is lacking in depth, like many recent castle pieces, and while it's lovely to see the Hospital Wing, the Defense Against the Dark Arts classroom and Dumbledore's Office feel generic and almost pitiful compared to previous renditions. The Divination Classroom might've been more appropriate here, imo The Prefects Bathroom and Yule Ball areas are nice for GoF scenes though, and well-handled at least, and the Yule Ball minifigs are charming, though not to my personal taste. A big fat maybe.

Advent Calendar - I see a cude but unecessary Hermione uniform variant and nothing else worthwhile so far. Hopefully there's a nice surprise to see.

Gravatar
By in United States,

@CortezTheKiller:
Yeah, the stag, Potter, and Black will all probably see a really soft market due to the sheer number of people who are already looking at this and thinking "Dementor battle pack". I mean, in the entire history of the HP theme, at $15 each, this is probably the cheapest they've ever been made available.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Wait... so know I have to rebuild my 2018 Hogwarts sets to attach them to a clock tower? Great. That's just great.
