Wallpapers are back!
Posted by Huw,Remember the archive of desktop wallpapers that we used to host before the site was redesigned in 2014?
No, I didn't think so, but this week I was reminded of it by Jesse in the US who asked me what happened to it, having seen it mentioned in old news articles from 2010, and whether it could be reinstated.
So, I rummaged through some old hard disks and found a copy of the site from the end of 2013, complete with over 1,200 wallpaper images. I have therefore been able to restore it to its former glory and you will now find it in our library.
If you are not familiar with our document library you should check it out. There are scans of catalogues, old club magazines, ideas books, adverts and much more.

Great stuff you’re doing with the site @Huw !! Thanks for all you do. A daily visit.
Wallpapers were my favorite thing and I’m sad that Lego has stopped doing as many...
Favorite thing behind the actual sets of course.
I think the thing I love the best is that there are Clikits wallpapers. Are you sure Huwbot didn't put you up to this, @Huw?
Wow, Bionicle galore...
Awesome!
Any possibility of adding more recent wallpapers, e.g. Ninjago, DC Super Heroes, and Marvel Super Heroes?
4 in the morning, Huw? That's dedication.
Now, go to bed! ;-]
Very nice.
@Huw The wallpapers labeled Bionicle (2001, Matoran) don't actually depict Matoran....
@MutoidMan, if someone has a large collection they can send me, then yes.
So these are all official wall papers, released by TLG? Not to say that fan-made wall papers couldn't be just as good (or better) but I was just wondering.
PS: Love the library! Great to see those old adverts!
And we don't even need to use VIP points!
Nice to see these back again!
Any chance of a shortcut to the later themes? I've been scrolling for half an hour and I'm still on the 'B's!!!
Or maybe just a 'no Bionicle / Clikits / Galidor / Duplo' toggle. You know, for the site in general... ;-)
A bit disappointed they're mostly set pictures, particularly in Star Wars. I've seen some great promotional images of what I think are CGI line-ups of some of the original movie series minifigs (e.g. X-Wing Luke alongside an Endor Rebel and others), and enlargements of the original minifig Star Wars emblem from the packaging, used in wall-sized promotional hoardings at shops and Legoland. Those would make for great wallpapers - maybe you could beg LEGO for some of their promotional hi-res images, for re-sizing as wallpapers..?
Best Lego related news in a long time. :)
Thank you for this! :)
Didn't Mixels also have wallpapers?
Some were pretty cool.
Has anyone got those?
Ah, Hero Factory was a good theme. Maybe I'll try to find some on the aftermarket. And some of those Power Miner wallpapers are hilarious
@Joefish you can use Ctrl+F to search the page for a theme
Awesome!
I like Agents in the thumbnail, that's my favorite nonlicensed theme.
Good to have these back again.
Especially the Clickits and Galidor ones!
Great
I had forgotten there were such wallpapers.
Tomorrow I will change my background in the office with one of the Monster Fighters.
These are AWESOME! Thanks Huw! Changing up my screens now! Be gone National Geographic and your endless frogs and zebras.... you have been replaced by the joy of the brick!
Bravo! Looking forward to a deep dive in these.
Wow. Lego Universe... may you never be forgotten. (RIP 2010- 2012)
Oh dang!! These are cool!
7 of 8 AquaRaider TreasureTrench wallpapers... I so remember not being able to get that last impossible one too. The brick-combo from shooting weird sea-creatures and transporting them up and down the depth was annoyingly time consuming.
Aww shucks, why they stop doing individual wallpapers for each of the Collectable Minifigs after series 2?
Meh, half of these wallpapers are for Bionicle.
Oh my word... Galidor ... yuck!
SO MUCH BIONICLE
So nice!
Are there any Catalogs from 2000-2009? Or are they to new? I cant seem to find them :/
^ Not yet, they are too big to scan not that interesting, compared to 20th century ones.
