Powered Up app now supports Technic hubs and motors
Posted by Huw,A new version of the Powered Up app is now available on the Apple App and Google Play stores.
The most significant changes are that it now supports the Technic hub and motors found in 42100 Liebherr R 9800 and 42099 4x4 X-Treme Off-Roader which means that, 3 months after their release, they can finally be used in your own models.
I've just installed it and look forward to testing it out, perhaps in a GBC module, over Christmas.
You can read full details after the break.
- You are now able to connect, address, code, and control up to four hubs
- The app now fully supports the new LEGO TECHNIC hardware. You are now able to connect the new LEGO TECHNIC hub, and use the internal tilt sensor, as well as the new LEGO TECHNIC motors. The app can read values from internal sensors (orientation (X, Y, Z), and acceleration (X, Y, Z) of the TECHNIC Medium Hub. From the app you can pair motors on port AB, and CD. The app also supports the TECHNIC Large Linear Motor (Motor no. 2) and TECHNIC XL Linear Motor (Motor no. 3). From the app you can regulate power, speed and position of motors.
- The app has had a makeover! We’ve given the interior of the two lobbies a thorough clean-up and made it easier for you to create new projects. We’ve also cleaned up the canvas a bit, but all of your canvas features are still available in the menu in the bottom right corner.

Riiiiiiiiiiiggggggggggggghhhhhhhhhhhhtttttttttt.......
What's 'Powered Up'?
Can't remote control vehicles just come with a controller?
Controlling multiple objects, such as a working amusement park? Yes please.
Good stuff! About time!
Also, cue moaning about having to use an app...

Success programming that. And make sure you take good care of your horse.

I’m with you, I want things on and moving at once, not flipping switches. “Alexa, light it up.”

Imagine a SW battlefield MOC as well.....
Sweet, now I don't have to hold my phone upside down to run the RC Land Rover Defender mod done by grohl666 on youtube.
I'm excited about the App being able to read motor positions. The steering on 42099 takes advantage of that, and it offers so much more than the old PF Servo motor. Instead of having just 180 degrees of rotation with limited torque and a fixed "center" point, you now get more rotation, more torque, or both, and you don't need to worry about what angle constitutes "centered".
I've been trying to motorize 42069 (Extreme Adventure) for some time now, and getting the steering to work well with the Servo has been a nightmare. This could be a godsend.

:) Man, electronics are complicated, though.
Hmmmmmmmmmm... But @Rimefang 's comment did inspire me, the ability to control four hubs at once.... I'll wait and see.
The little voice inside me that is in the complicated electronics area in my brain is saying "you won't be disappointed."
Expected expansion of Power modules. Despite lack of programming abilities of Lego Control+ so far, from the start Control+ hub was discoverable by 3-rd party software like BuWizz app and be able to control models by JoyPads.
