Black Widow's Helicopter Chase

Yahoo! has announced an upcoming Marvel Super Heroes set, 76162 Black Widow's Helicopter Chase, which is based upon the Black Widow film. The set will be available on the 1st of March.

Three minifigures are provided, including Black Widow, Yelena Belova and Taskmaster, while the set costs $29.99 in the US. Prices for other countries have yet to be revealed but I expect £24.99 or €29.99, given the cost of 76127 Captain Marvel and The Skrull Attack.

You can view the box after the break...

Are you impressed with this Black Widow set or have you become tired of LEGO helicopters? Let us know in the comments.

By in Canada,

It looks exactly like a lego city police helicopter but black imo

By in United States,

I honestly don't understand why Marvel sets aren't given the budget or creative passion most other licensed themes get. I mean, look at that depressing ATV. Maybe the helicopter is a big action scene in the movie that plays a crucial roll but honestly I would rather something else. I know I'm not the target demographic and vehicles sell really well for kids but this just seems bland even by most standards.

By in Netherlands,

It at least redefines the term 'sexy box art'.

Gravatar
By in Australia,

I wonder if Lego would still do sets for upcoming DCEU movies like Birds of Prey and Wonder Woman 84. All we got from Shazam was a polybag.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Wow, super juniorized... Pretty chunky & boring.

Gravatar
By in Singapore,

Uh, the knobs on the blade look horrendous. And that scooter! At least Taskmaster looks good...
For more of my thoughts: https://youtu.be/sZ3L29oUNHQ (sorry for the shameless plug).

Gravatar
By in United States,

Eh looks like the usual Marvel set to me. Decent figs with a juniors level build. Nothing to be surprised here folks.

Gravatar
By in United States,

I love how Lego is like “let’s make one female head, and then use it for ALL the human female Minifigures”.

Problem is this set uses way more specialized pieces so it's less interesting to build

Gravatar
By in United States,

I agree with most of the above comments (especially @Isabella_and_Lego_Liker saying that this is literally a scaled-down version of 4439, though I might add that it is also quite similar to 60093). However, I also think that this could be a decent helo to add to a collection (assuming of course one removes those horrid knobs off of the rotors). It seems to be pretty proportionally accurate, and with some modifications could be a pretty good chopper. I will withhold any comments about the minifigs or the thing that is trying to be an ATV, but I could see modifying this set. I may pick this one up, as there's also a decent price per piece (about 11 cents per).

Would definitely need some modifications though.

By in Japan,

Honestly the new Taskmaster design is pretty awful (The MCU One). They should have just used the PS4 Spider-Man design, perfectly represented the character in a modern age.

Exactly what I thought!

By in Australia,

This isn’t too bad. I like how the helicopter looks realistic and the figures are fine (except for the absence of Red Guardian). Compared to other Marvel sets this year, this might be the best of them.

Not too mention that the box art looks awesome!

I feel like, this Lego box artwork, is going to be a critical moment in the lives of many of the boys who purchase it ... but they might not realise that for a few more years.

It's not a bad set, I don't think. It's not great, no, but it's better than the other superhero sets that Lego has put out for 2020 (most of which, to me, are trash).

Might be a box I definitely keep for the collection. :P

Gravatar
By in Australia,

I think it looks OK and has good minis and play features. The best thing about the scale and simplicity it is that it gives kids ideas how to build their own creations

Gravatar
By in United States,

Very uninspired set, and at this point the figs don't look great enough on their own to warrant the purchase. A shame; sometimes the Marvel sets are really great, but more often their haphazard builds meant to make you buy them for the minifigures.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

It's a little dull colourwise compared to other Marvel sets, but I guess people would complain either way if it was alternatively too garish! Hopefully we'll see Red Guardian in another set as he was the standout character from the trailer for me.

I'd guess closer to £30/35 as can't see a helicopter that size in a £25 set.

Gravatar
By in United States,

I think it looks decent enough. It's not outstanding, but it's a helicopter. The ATV is awful though. Still the best Marvel set this year.

Gravatar
By in United States,

I just find it funny that a helicopter set with a Black Widow minifig literally just came out and here we are with another coming out in a few months.

Gravatar
By in United States,

It's a pretty decent helicopter for a pretty decent price, but I must say that I thought it a fake when the pictures appeared on Instagram shortly before they went up on Brickset. It's so common for clone brands to recolor City-style helicopters in black and gray for sale as military aircraft that I'm quite surprised to see Lego doing it too.

Box Art for a seven year old? Don't think so.

Gravatar
By in Germany,

I really don't know yet what I finally think about it. I like the minifigs, I really don't have a Problem with the Heli, but some of the small builds are just demotivating ...

Gravatar
By in Germany,

The box art discussion is hilarious. Theres no boobs, no cleavage no nothing but a strong female super hero. Let's change the head to black panther and no one would even point it out. Oh my.

Gravatar
By in United States,

To anyone looking to their own "Special Forces" Creation, this Black Chinook will come in handy for sure. ;)

Gravatar
By in Hungary,

I have only one question. Who's piloting the heli?
On the boxart you can clearly see all 3 minifigures are outside the craft, but the vehicle is in motion and already took off from the surface.
I don't get it....is this some kind of RC copter or what?

Anyway I like it.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Can’t wait to watch the movie! The Lego line up is going to be great. The black shade looks great but it kind of lacks a sense of creativity. For £25 and 251 pieces it’s going to be a must have! It’s a shame that I can already see stud-shooters. Such a waste of money and time...

Gravatar
By in United States,

Admittedly, I feel the urge Lego has to make enticing action toys, especially for superheroes, but helicopters are getting repeated a wee bit too often.

Gravatar
By in France,

I like this.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

I mean, the helicopter's cool. Not sure about those minifigures though.

EDIT: Reading the other comments, are we seriously going there about the box art? C'mon folks.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Looks like some one made this is there sleep haha

Gravatar
By in Netherlands,

Pretty cool set imo, but I'm a bit disappointed that they didn't use Captain America's shield piece for Taskmaster.

Gravatar
By in South Africa,

Seems kinda underwhelming from the minifigures side. Black Widow looks nice, but Yelena won't make it into any top 10 lists and Taskmaster hardly standouts compared to the fig from 76018. And his accessories look like an afterthought
Lego have just shown with the DC CMF range what they can do with Superhero minifigures, so this just seems meh.
The helicopter looks brilliant, but this set still looks like a rejected City Police design.
Saying all that, I'll probably still get it.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Why have they stopped bothering with leg printing on so many superhero figures lately? It's the same on lots of the 2020 Marvel sets. It's really irritating given that the figures are the main draw of this theme

2/3 of The minifigs in this set have leg printing...

I like the box art but not for a first or second grader

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Wonder when they move to 8-stud wide helicopters (minifig-scaled), like they did for the sport cars.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Decent set, especially for kids!

Gravatar
By in United States,

For the massive amount of money that the Marvel brand has to throw around you would expect better Lego sets.

The brand generates more than Star Wars world wide...at what point is Lego going to wake up and see that they are severely under cutting their business by toddlerizing (yes I made that word up) adult themes in order to market them for children.

Gravatar
By in United States,

I’ll buy it for the box just because.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Uuugh...such a missed opportunity. Where are the white suit Widow and Red Guaradian minifigs??

How so? Seriously there's literally nothing that can be construed as being remotely sexual. Like @shirhac said, there's not even boobs. You can see a hundred more sexual things just by walking down the streets in the U.S., let alone in Germany or other parts of Europe.

They won't be making any birds of prey sets due to that movie being rated R. It may go the way of 76053 and reference the movie with minifig design but i doubt there will be any official sets.

Gravatar
By in United States,

This set actually looks really good. That helicopter is awesome and the minifigures look cool. This is probably the best Marvel set produced this year just off looks alone. The build doesn’t look like a mess compared to the other Avengers sets

Gravatar
By in United States,

I was expecting the set to cost $50 or $60, but this is actually a decent part/price ratio. Not that I need another helicopter taking up space, but it could be worse.

I saw this earlier on IG... I like it I have black widow in the infinity war outfit and taskmaster from the lab break out set, but would like to get my hands on Yelena Belova,
Also wheres TM,s tank from the first trailer and more importantly RED Guardian and Rachel weisz,s character?

My Guess would be there might be some more sets coming out??

Gravatar
By in Puerto Rico,

This will make a fine addition to my collection and I can turn this Helicopter into a military cargo for inside the athsmosphere and I don't have a TM figure yet so definetly a win.

Gravatar

I don't have much interest in Marvel sets so I won't be buying this regardless, but I'm so tired of seeing those one-piece cockpits...

"Box Art for a seven year old? Don't think so."

First off, eww. Second off, it's... it's just a simple box art of Black Widow. There's literally nothing sexual-related on there. What are you four seeing that I'm not? I'm genuinely curious.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Yes, I know it’s ANOTHER helicopter, but it’s in a great colour scheme. I don’t have many heli’s myself, and will get this one just for the colour it’s in - I think it’s the first time that nose piece has been in black?

Gravatar
By in United States,

The trailer didn’t really intrigue me until Red Guardian showed up, so I wish they put him in this set. Maybe Taskmaster is gonna play a big role or something, but I don’t even remember him appearing in the trailer. Wouldn’t Red Guardian have been a better choice?
As for the helicopter itself, I kind of love it. Sure, it’s just another City helicopter, but at least it’s a different color from most of the police ones (and much less expensive). After all, this is better than Hulk Helicopter Drop (at least in my opinion) and the military-like aspect definitely appeals to me. The quad bike and motorcycle are kind of just there but I see the appeal for the latter.

@ExaltedBrick
I agree honestly. This isn’t much worse than putting Captain Marvel on the box-art for the Marvel sets; Black Widow’s outfit doesn’t seem very revealing. There have been actual, physical LEGO figures that are more sexualized than this.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Is it just me, or have the only really good and interesting Marvel builds been the original Quinjett and 2 main GotG ships and the Dr. Strange House? Maybe the Avengers Tower and Spider-man bridge set. Everything else just feels like some throwaway build be it a generic truck, helicopter or wall, with some licensed minifigs.

Gravatar
By in United States,

I don't understand all the criticism. The helicopter looks way more cohesive and polished than most of the Marvel sets I've seen in the last couple years.

Gravatar
By in Australia,

@shirhac said:

Black Panther's head on Black Widow's body would engender an entirely *different* level of discussion, though.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Oh good god another helicopter.

Gravatar
By in United States,

I know this build is probably familiar to non-licensed collectors but it's definitely not like anything that's appeared in the Marvel line up to this point, so in that sense, I'm excited. It's better than the classic-style helicopters we've seen several of, and I'm satisfied with the minifigs, although Red Guardian would indeed be welcome, and Widow could really use those bracelets. It's a likely buy for me.

Although, gosh, is it just me or has Target netted every other Marvel solo film of Ph3 and now Ph4 as exclusives? Almost all for the $25-30 price point? Doctor Strange, Ant Man and the Wasp, Captain Marvel? I love Target but it makes me wonder if LEGO could do more if they were more mass release. I liked the Black Panther, Ragnarok and FFH sets as better than usual for the license.

Cannot wait for this year's Harry Potter Helicopter Set! :D

Gravatar
By in United States,

So we’re just being blatantly misogynistic here now? Well alright.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Cool set. Gonna buy it.

The Shazam! polybag I don’t believe was actually released. I think a few found their way into people’s hands by accident. The logo on the bag isn’t the live-action movie’s logo; I think a LEGO Shazam! movie is coming and that polybag will be the bonus.

Gravatar
By in United States,

This is off the subject of LEGO (kinda), but I'm really glad we finally get an MCU version of Black Widow with the classic gold accessories.

On the subject of LEGO, I really wish they would spend more money on the non-Avengers sets, like they did for Black Panther. That would be awesome.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

It's a nice enough looking helicopter. I'd be more impressed though if the two rotors were linked by a driveshaft so you only have to spin one and the other goes round. But not much chance of that. Or even a ratcheted lever to spin the rotors like 8232. You could use a Bionicle Bohrok lever to make the gears spin...

Gravatar
By in United States,

Not a bad design for a helicopter. Certainly a less commonmly used one, but does seem similar to a city one in 2014, just downsized and painted in black. Certainly has its uses in a Dystopian or city themed MOC and I might even want to try to create scenarios with my own custom figures. The trike is absolutely atrocious and there's probably better use for the back than the pathetic excuse for a trike. Guess it could be used for storage or for a motorcycle. Taskmaster's weapon is an interesting choice, but they should have used Captain America's shield and a Lord of the Rings sword design. Guess Black Widow is also using lightsaber hilts as her batons again instead of the newer and better design in the other helicopter. The figure selection is interesting. Taskmaster is a nicely designed figure and I'm interested to see his role in the movie. Would be nice to see a bit more orange and white on him as well as for the new hood piece to be used. Yelena Belova is a nice figure but she definitely could have used a new face print and a better hair piece. Plus, it would be nice to have the goon guns or at least the Alien Conquest pistols in black. Black Widow is the best figure in the set, but it would have been nice to have the new white suit that looks like Stormtrooper armor from Star Wars, since it is more unique. Also, shame Red Baron isn't here, since he seems like one of the more dynamic characters in the movie. Anyways, these are my thoughts on the set. I hope to be picking it up this year, but I guess we'll have to wait and see
