Today's selection is brought to you by redbeardlegoman:

6038 Wolfpack Renegades was one of the first sets I ever bought. My friend had it, and I thought it was brilliant. I was especially enamoured with the hide-away feature for the minifigures in the bottom of the cart.

I was so excited about this set from playing with it at my friend's house, that I ran home, counted my saved allowance, and asked my mom to run me to Zeller's to see if they still had one. They did.

I was just a bit short because of tax, but my mom picked up the difference. Once we got home, the rest of my day was spent playing with this and my 6075 Wolfpack Tower (the very first set I ever bought myself).

I still have my beloved 6038 -- though I really, really, really wish I hadn't kragled the minifigs together!

The Wolfpack remains my all-time favourite sub-theme, even with its three excellent sets. I would die if TLG ever re-issued or created new ones. And 6038 Wolfpack Renegades is the best set of the three.

Glueing pieces together!? The horror!

Anyways, thanks for the write-up, @redbeardlegoman ! Shorter than what's been written for the last two days, but a quick read is just what I needed right now. :-D

By in Netherlands,

I don't have any castle sets from 1992, as I entered my dark ages a couple of years prior to that particular year being in secondary/high school / A-levels (what ever you call it depending on where you are from). Any way 1992 definitely was a great year for (classic) castle fans:

There was even still a set released that year that contained a Black Falcon knight. Those were the good old days!
I have bricklinked a couple of Wolfpack torso's some years ago, because there is something cool about these bandits. I just assumed they were bandits!?! Aren't they?!

Had this and Wolfpack Tower when I was a kid. I loved their design so much and always wished they made more sets.

I’d love a major “love letter” set to classic Lego themes every year, like the new Barracuda Bay set. Imagine an epic-scale forest playset with Wolfpack and Forestmen!!

By in Belgium,

I had this one. The wolfpack castle, the woodsman castle and the Black Knights castle. Including a poster in my room with all three layed out in an epic landscape... Truly a Pinnacle of my youth... Thanks for sharing. This set of Wolfpack renegadzs was indeed amazing!

By in Hungary,

I never understood why it is blue, but somehow it looks good.
Thinking about it, I couldn't choose a better color from the choices they had back then.

By in Bulgaria,

Always loved Wolfpack as a kid. I also saved up my pocket money to get this set. I got some more recently who are poised to take up residence in a smugglers den on the lower levels of Ninjago City.

In our house they were, but of the Robin Hood variety. Those were certainly cool sets!

As everyone has said, the renegades and the tower are awesome! My Mom got them for me when they came out--greatly appreciated even now.

My brother had this one when we were little. Always wanted the bigger set but, alas, our family income would not allow it. Good write-up, redbeardlegoman!

Curses, trust me to only have discovered LEGO in my forties long after all these wonderful featured sets of the past few days! Good review so thank you for that.

For some reason I feel a lot of nostalgia for old sets like this, despite not having been born back then. The castle sets were particularly, its too bad the minifigures are so expensive now.

By in Belgium,

I aways considered to be just a normal cart, didn’t know about the hide-away feature! Maybe I should get one of these :) Thanks @redbeardlegoman for pointing that out

@donnyman1972 well, you’ll make some ebay/bricklink sellers very happy :))

Happened to me so many times as well. Thanks moms everywhere!

Another one of my childhood favorites! <3

By in Netherlands,

Really hope we get sets with horses again, and not just via Friends (different horses) or Licensed (flesh figures).

I loved the Wolfpack faction of Castle as a kid. I just wish that they had more than just two sets. There was also 6086: Black Knight's Castle, 1596: Ghostly Hideout and 6105: Medieval Knights that each included a single Wolfpack minifig, but I don't really consider those to be part of the subtheme. In Black Knight's Castle, the Wolfpack minifig was a prisonr, in Ghostly Hideout the focus was on the ghost, and Medieval Knights was a minifig pack in which all the other minifigs were from the Dragon Knights faction. In all, I think there were only eight Wolfpack minifigs total. Wolfpack was a very small band of rogues.

Thank you.
I know, I know.
I had taken them apart so many times that the ribs were splitting, and there was no clutch left.

Man I had this set! Loved it!

By in United States,

I forgot all about this mini-series within Castle! I even had one or two of these as a kid. They were pretty cool, just like Forestmen. :)

@Librarian1976

There were three Wolfack sets. 6075 Wolfpack Tower. 6038 Wolfpack Renegades. And 1596 Ghostly Hideout is listed as one. I'd consider it one as well, since it's the only faction (unless you count the undead) present.

By in United States,

Ah, Wolfpack, my favorite antagonists to the Black Knights! I got real lucky when my mom found the remnants of the Wolfpack Tower in a garage sale. No instructions, but one of the mini-catalogs from 1992 was included, and Castle was front and center! So many awesome sets beckoned to me, but only the Wolfpack Tower seemed possible with the pieces I had (a Brickshelf search later, and I had the instructions. Missing pieces weren't finally all accounted for until late last year, when I found a replacement brown hood for one of my renegades). I did want the carriage set, though, so I could boast having a full faction, but it was not to be. Thanks for writing about this one!

Thank you for the great story! I wish I had been wise and asked for LEGO more frequently! I wasted a lot on GI Joe figures, many of whom my dad would blow up on Fourth of July. I thought it was cool then....

By in United Kingdom,

Wolfpack was one of my first obsessions when returning to lego as an AFOL. Went on an ebay binge and ended up with a couple of these and Wolfpack towers back when you could still grab a bargain on ebay. Still one of my favourite castle factions.

By in Greece,

Wolfpack ftw!!! I loved that faction so much and supposedly they were friends with the Forestmen (as I had few minifigs of both factions). That set was my favourite. It had a clever and beautiful design albeit small and it was so playable... Such fond childhood memories...

I have this. It's the only wolfraiders set I have. :( but I loved it to pieces and in a whole set as well. :D

damn in looking I realized I had almost the whole run from 1990 and 1992.

I don't think they had very much brown yet, it was either blue, yellow, or black for wood.
