Pre-order Super Mario at IWOOT and receive a free gift
Posted by Huw,
IWOOT is offering hitherto unknown Super Mario polybag 30385 Super Mushroom Expansion Set as a gift with pre-orders of 71360 Adventures with Mario. The bundle costs £49.99 and it will ship in August. Place your pre-order here!
The polybag combines with the starter set, as can be seen after the break.
We've added all the sets revealed so far to the database.

is this the same as the free gift from TLG or do different places have different preorder bonuses?
TLG has this expansion plus Monty Mole for free if you preorder
Why on earth would anyone choose this GWP over the Monty Mole one?
This is cool.
I hope I can find that little poly bag in a store one day. It is pretty cute.
This offer is already live in LEGO.com.
"Free LEGO® Exclusive Monty Mole & Super Mushroom Expansion Set (40414) offer is valid for orders online at LEGO.com only from 07/04/2020 to 31/07/2020, while stocks last. Qualifying purchase must include 71360 LEGO Adventures with Mario Starter Course. "
See, this is something that I'd actually buy normally. It looks to be an enjoyable build even if you ignore the gimmick.
I get why they're doing what they're doing with this line, but I still hope that they'll make regular sets one day!
No. lol
Fuuuuuuuuu. That Bowsers Castle tho. I adore the brick built Bowser and Bowser Jr. I cant be the only one heartbroken that there isnt a single minifig!!! Cmon guys surprise me with a Nintendo themed CMF wave or something!!
Where’s the Yoshi??
Trying to read the articles on your site is quite difficult with all those ads floating about on my phone screen. Do you really need that many?!
I fail to see how this is exclusive. Smyths Toys and GAME in the UK are offering the same bundle with Super Mushroom Expansion set (and probably other retailers too). It seems like the standard preorder bonus.
LEGO are offering both the Monty Mole and Super Mushroom Expansion sets with their preorder, again for the same price, so I'd recommend preordering from there.

Just log in and there are 0 ads
^probably because this whole article is an add for IWOOT
What does Monty Mole have to do with this theme, is he even a Nintendo character at all? When I think of Monty Mole I think of the 80s Gremlin Graphics Commodore 64 games, did Nintendo somehow acquire the rights?
Non affiliate links have been deleted. The correct link to use to preorder from Lego.com is in the press release article.

Monty mole debuted in Super Mario World on the SNES in 1990.
^^ That was link I copied in...
Can we at least correct that:
a) it's not an exclusive free gift, as its the standard preorder bonus from all retailers
b) the preorder set is (to my knowledge) called the Super Mushroom Expansion, I can't see anywhere that references "surprise" in the name
c) let users know that LEGO are offering a better deal by including Monty Mole. I cannot see this mentioned in any article
I understand Bricket's need for affliate revenue, and use the LEGO affiliate links where I can, but this "article" just feels like one big advert for IWOOT, misinforming people that IWOOT are offering something exclusive.
As a leading (the leading?) LEGO fan site, users should be able to trust Brickset for the best deals.
At the time I published it I was not aware it would be available from all retailers. I've thus removed the word exclusive from the title.
You may well be able to get a different and arguably better free gift from LEGO.com but bear in mind that it does not ship everywhere that IWOOT does so not everyone reading this can take advantage of LEGO's offer.

MTBrickHouse - After looking it up, I do vaguely remember some mole character popping up from the ground, but didn't know he was called Monty. I've never owned a Nintendo console (apart from a few Gameboys), so I haven't played many of the Mario games extensively. Just finds it strange that they got away with such a similar name - given how protective Nintendo are about their properties I can't imagine they'd let it slip the other way.
The only Mario set I'm going to get (if its a Polybag)
I'm confused as to who this set is aimed at? I was in my early 20's when Mario came out and it was fun to play on Nintendo. My kids have all the modern games and although Mario has aged well, they don't really play it. They play Mario cart with their friends, but that's more because it is interactive. I feel this set is aimed at the 5-10 age bracket, but who's got $90+ for the starter kit, let alone the rest of the sets? I'm sure adults would prefer to build model railways and build MOCs rather than move a toy Mario around a small course? Maybe it's just me, but I certainly won't be shelling out all that cash on this.

Your kids may not play Mario or any other Nintendo IP personally (I'm guessing Fortnite?) but that doesn't mean Mario isn't still popular with all ages.
The suggested age range for this product starts at 6 years old so, yes, it's not directly geared for nostalgic adults or even late teens looking to collect and put on their shelf.
In regards to the price tag and who is paying, it's the same parents of these kids willing to shell out $$ for other relatively expensive Lego sets, $60+ video games, or nickel and dime in-game purchases that lead to nothing more than customizable skins. Is a physical $59.99 USD Lego set really that much more expensive than a $1.99 in-game only character item? At least I'll have physical Lego pieces at the end of the day when the hype of a trendy video game title fades away (referring to titles like Fortnite without staying power).
I don’t see this preorder in the US anymore
Never ordered from iwoot before. Started the process until I saw 14-15 standard delivery. See ya later!
