The eight new Monkie Kid sets are now available at LEGO.com in all regions.

Given precedent for highly desirable sets going out of stock or on back order soon after release, I suggest you place your order at LEGO.com now to avoid disappointment.

Somehow managed to have an easy checkout experience. That makes one in a row I guess. Got the Monkey King Warrior Mech and the Demon Bull King on order! Now we wait!

I wonder if they will use that gold staff bar handle piece in silver for future darth maul minifigures.

That's TLG punishing the rest of the world for having being pressured to open these sets up to the rest of the world instead of just China. *just kidding* I'm speculating maybe a handful of new molds, recolors, etc.?

Same here but checking out has never been my problem, it's when it gets into the post office's hands is where things almost always goes very wrong. I wish TLG would use slightly beefier boxes for more expensive sets like they do for retail stores. I get it though, they have to keep the cost down for free shipping but it still sucks when you get an order smashed to bits.

I have a better idea: wait a few months tops until they are inevitably discounted by other retailers

By in United States,

Ordered the HQ. ALMOST pulled the trigger on the Mech too but that's just too much money for me to spend at once. Maybe in the future.

So far no confirmation email..

By in United States,

I’m gonna let fate decide if I get the Cloud Jet sooner rather than later. I have it in my bag, but I’m waiting until next week for the release of the Haunted House.

By in Australia,

Monkey Kid. Do I get points if I look like I care?

Gravatar
By in Italy,

I'll get only the mech later, at a discount...

Gravatar
By in Australia,

Just looked... and the bike is $50 AUD!

Why didn’t they give us a Battle Pack or something? I’ll wait for a clearance.

Gravatar
By in Latvia,

I might buy the cheapest set, but because I'm not very interested in this theme, I'll better save my money for new Star Wars sets or something like that

Gravatar
By in Switzerland,

Monkey Kid does nothing for me, so that's an easy pass.

By in United Kingdom,

When will the poly bag be available?

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Very cool-looking sets, but I had no real interest until just watching the trailer for the cartoon.

Now I want all the sets; damn you, marketing people...

Wow, the buildings are better designed than the ones in the city sets!

That's the only thing that interests me from this line. LEGO needs to take these concepts and transmit them to other themes (imagine SW buildings depending on the planet sold in very affordable sets without a dump gimmicky). I am not interested in this line but those buildings are awesome.

Man, these sets are way overpriced. The Dragon Cycle set is $35??? Are we paying a communist premium or something? haha I’ll wait until the inevitable clearance.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Hm... trying to figure when best to buy some of these. Normally I'd like to wait for a sale but with these being Lego-exclusive in the U.S. I don't know how likely it'll be to see one (especially since with stores closed, the LUG discount days are out of the picture until further notice). Double VIP points may be the best I can hope for...

For once Europe seems to be better off.
The RRPs over here are actually quite decent. Especially the large Mechs are almost bargains with PPPs well below 10 cents.

And good news for monofig collectors.
80011 contains the first plain hips and legs in dark turquoise ever. Hope this part will be available at Bricks and Pieces soon too.

@nick3c:
I don't really see the point. It's possible to make a much better Darth Maul lightsaber with parts that already existed. Take a regular lightsaber hilt and a telescope, and make a longer handle out of them. Put 3L blades in each end (something I wish they'd do for _ALL_ of their lightsabers, because the blade length is more to scale with minifigs). Now you have a double-ended lightsaber that Maul can hold with _two_ hands. It should also work with this new piece combined with a telescope, but it would look very plain.

@MTBrickHouse:
I wish they would bag the contents before putting it in the box. LEGO.com doesn't actually ship via USPS. They ship via FedEx. FedEx will supposedly bag your packages when it's raining, but USPS does not. I've had at least three shipments from LEGO.com get drenched because they arrived during a rainstorm while I was away from home. One time, one of my neighbors even saw this giant box sitting on my front steps, and put a bag over it to keep it from getting wet...but she left the actual box sitting on the steps, so the water seeped up through the bottom anyways.

I've never had a problem with the shipping carton being crushed, though I did have issues for a while with the contents being packed very badly. If you order one large set and one small set, the logical thing to do is set the large one in the bottom of the box (flat), and lay the small one on top before filling in the rest of the empty space with packing bubbles. But no, someone was putting the small set in first, laying the large set across it on an angle, and "saving the company money" by only using one packing bubble where two would have normally been needed. The problem with this is that the large box doesn't really fit nicely when you try to close the flaps, so it gets crushed down onto the edge of the smaller set, damaging the large set (and possibly the small one) in the process.

@Brickchap:
You'd have to spell it right to pull off that look...

@Lordmoral:
*sigh* I'd managed to forget about those. I recently read about a Chinese woman in NYC who tried _THREE_TIMES_ to get tested for COVID-19, but because she was not confirmed to have come in contact with someone who had tested positive, they refused to test her even though she had symptoms. So she took a plane back to China. There, she was able to get tested (in fact, as an international air passenger, they insisted on it), and she tested positive. But because she traveled to China while infected, and did not inform them upon arrival that she was infected, her "social credit score" got lowered.

The images of 6 out of 8 of the sets contain turquoise brick separators. That might contribute to the price.

Unlikely. Recolors barely add to the price of a set in general and in this case wouldn't really add more to the cost than any other brick separator, since the turquoise separators have been in production since last year's sets.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Eh...I was kinda piqued at first, but the more I’ve looked the stuff over, it’s really kid-centric. Not that this is an awful thing, but the prices don’t reflect that general vibe. My own kids looked at them and the oldest gave me a ‘DAFUQ??’ (He’s nearly 16...waddya gonna do?).

I tend to echo that sentiment though overall. So I let him live. :D

Gravatar
By in United States,

Cartoon trailer looks horribly unwatchable.

Sad to see LEGO go the dopey modern cartoon route...

Gravatar
By in United States,

4 out of 8 of the sets are $90 or more. What happened to diverse pricing, LEGO?!?

Lego.com mentions Lego Instructions PLUS, a digital building guide. Does this mean the sets don’t come with Physical instructions? Is this the beginning of the end of physical instructions?!?!? BAD IDEA.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Whatever happened to each line usually having a $10-$20 set? Like you can't give me a Monkey Kid, his hover board, and a bull henchmen with a motorcycle for ten bucks? These are way too steep. The HQ is cool, but not "close-to-$200" cool.

By in United States,

@MiniFigFiend: What on earth are you talking about? The animation in the trailer is incredible—much more distinctive, dynamic, and complex than anything Lego's done in TV animation up to this point. And the voice acting isn't too shabby either—sounds like Jack DeSena (the voice of Sokka from Avatar: The Last Airbender) as the main character. Don't know where you got "dopey" from that.

@123appleman: Lego Instructions PLUS is already available for several sets from this year and last year. It doesn't replace physical instructions.

Maybe in your neck of the woods but shipping to the 50th state in middle of the ocean, LEGO.com also uses USPS when it's convenient. This was the case for my Pirates of Barracuda Bay set that arrived shredded and bashed. It has a USPS Priority Mail shipping label on the box.

By in United Kingdom,

I’d buy every one of these if it wasn’t for the insane prices - $260 for the boat! Crazy pricing if you ask me. I bought all the first wave of Nexo Knights but unless these start going for 50% off, this themes a pass unfortunately.

Did you keep the set? Or file a complaint?

The HQ is larger than it looks in the pics, plus you get all the main characters

I tried calling Lego several times to confirm total bag count as the set box also showed an indication some of the seals were broken. After the third try and a 30 minute wait I confirmed that all bags were accounted for. Lego gave me a $15 credit for the bashed box. It just wasn't worth it for me to go through the hassle of filing a claim with USPS and sending the set back.

I was wondering about that as well. Is this a Lego in-house theme or did they have to pay licensing for this series? The prices are more akin to Star Wars level of pricing for which they need to pay licensing. I thought it was more like Ninjago which was in-house and hence lower prices.

Gravatar
By in Poland,

I don't get it. It feels really like another Ninjago to me. Martial arts and giant robot battles. Sigh. I wish the Chinese people loved medieval castles. I bet these will be huge in the counterfeit Chinese market.

Gravatar
By in United States,

I'm excited to see a fresh take on a legend that means so much to so many people. I can't say I'm in love with the sets or the approach -- mechs seem like the easy way out that Lego has retread so many times including not just Ninjago but also Nexxo Knights. Using modern vehicles also overlaps with the approach of Hidden Side. Frankly I'm still mourning the end of Elves and wished they had a similar, more organic feel to these builds.

Approach (and price) notwithstanding, I hope this line succeeds.

By in United States,

@EDHS1989:
For my three instances, it varied. One of them was Exo-Suits. I'd placed two orders for two sets each, with the intent of keeping one sealed, building one, and raiding the other two for parts. One of the orders arrived unharmed, so that took care of the sealed copy and the built model, and I think only one of the set boxes (but neither instruction book) got any water damage on the second shipment. I called them up and let them know what had happened, but because the set was in such short supply I didn't feel right asking them to send me a replacement. The next shipment was a couple small SW sets, where I did want the boxes in nice condition. They sent me replacements and let me keep the damaged ones. The third instance was a much larger set, which they asked me to return.
