Traffic review of the year
Posted by Huw,Just before Christmas I like to take a look at the usage statistics for the site and see how much traffic has grown over the year. The graph below shows the growth in the number of people visiting the since 2008:
As you can see, there are about 5 times more visitors than in 2008 at this time of year. I wonder how that ties in with the increase in the number of adults that have emerged from their dark ages in that period, encouraged to do so by new LEGO products and licenses? There are huge spikes at this time of the year but the overall trend, as you can see, is still on the increase.
As the table below shows, you looked at 19% more pages than in 2011 and visited 37% more times, and more than a million more people visited. I suspect by the end of the year the number of visitors will reach 5 million, which is a fantastic landmark. Thank you all!

Congratulations on the continued growth, Huw! It was the introduction of the Lord of the Rings line this year that brought me out of my dark ages, and finding Brickset has really helped me ease back into the community. Your devotion really makes this site one I look forward to visiting every day.
Same here. I always thought Lego was for kids, until I stood frozen staring at R2D2 when I was visiting the Hillsdale Shopping Center in October this year. I am fascinated by the designs of the advanced Lego sets. My favorite is still R2D2, who sits on my office desk giving me inspiration each day. Thank you, Huw, for Brickset. It is a great site to check for the original prices as well as daily discounts especially when the prices at Amazon seem to fluctuate a great deal from time to time. I enjoy reading the news and forums. Merry Christmas (Happy Holidays) to all ye AFOLs. Greetings from San Francisco.
Thank you both for your comments!
The growth is brilliant to see. It would be interesting to find out if the spikes in vistitors have coincided with a certain product/theme release. I find the site very useful for keeping tabs on upcoming news and visit brickset more than Lego.com (mainly to browse the forums!!) Congrats Huw.
Modular buildings brought me back in as an adult this month after 10+ years of no LEGO. Working with TLC doesn't help things...
Awesome, keep up the great work! This is the only LEGO site I come to for my news and updates on my own collection!
I'm an AFOL that resisted until they came out with the DC and Marvel Super Hero licences just earlier this year. LEGO needs to slow down cuz even as a working adult, I can't keep up buying all the good stuff they're putting out.
