First legitimate picture of Ninjago City Gardens!
Posted by Huw,
Rumours of the release of a third set to combine with Ninjago City and Ninjago City Docks have been around for ages.
Now we have our first picture of 71741 NINJAGO City Gardens thanks to Brickset members in Canada who have received the LEGO shop at home paper catalogue in the mail and have posted pictures in our Facebook group.
It will be released on January 14th and it looks awesome -- let us know what you think of it in the comments.
Thanks to Larry L for the images.
If anyone with a scanner receives the catalogue, please send us scans of the pages, and those of the Eternals sets. Thanks!

Wow! Definitely a day one buy for me!
Doesn't really seem to fit in in-style with the previous 2 sets but still incredibly detailed nontheless. Also weird that it comes out 3 years after the docks.
399,99...
This hurts.
Simply (also wacky) magnificent!
Well done Lego, Ninjago theme deserves it!
(So much better add-on than NC Docks!)
Wow, great!!!
A must have

It's a scan from a Canadian catalog. It's $299.99 in the States, which usually translates to €299.99.
Hm... I wonder if Scoop is meant to look like a repurposed Exo-Force robot. If so, I like that little throwback!
My favorite section has to be the museum. I love adventure movies, and that would give Clutch a nice little role in the Ninjago universe.
The price is... a bit much. I wish they did something cheaper if this is supposed to be a celebration of 10 years because I doubt children will be able to afford it.
Love that they maintained the layers of old to new architecture and the diverse colors
Great blocky bricks!! That's one awesome set. I look forward to hearing my wallet scream at me.
Better than the docks, but doesn't triumph the city. For fans of that theme I'm sure it's a must buy but for me it's a pass. Having said that, curious to see how it'll look like next to 80107 Spring Lantern Festival
What obscure easter eggs will they have this time?

One of the minifigs is Clutch Powers.
Is that a vinyl piece on the Ninjago fan’s bed? Has that been done before?
February 1st seems so far away!
That looks incredible. Can’t wait.
Guess I’m getting my first Ninjago set next year...
Wow, interesting. Kinda wish I didnt sell my NC and NCD during the summer!
I have been waiting for this for so long. Day one purchase for me.
I guess I'll have to finally get round to building my City and Docks sets......this must have been what I was waiting for!
Ice Planet ice cream shop ... Just $20.02 for a mini scoop. Emmett "Overpriced Coffee" Pratt must go there every day.
This set looks incredible! I can't wait for official images to release. It's going to look great on the other side of the docks!
Day One purchase and immediate build!
That Golden Wu Minifig is gonna end up costing an arm and a leg on the secondary market !
Uggh why does this have to be so attractive?!! I know that if I get this I will have a strong desire for Ninjago City, but the aftermarket prices are extreme.
Almost as good as the original. Too bad I missed out on that beauty. Hopefully I won't make the same mistake here, although $400 is more than I've ever shelled out for a LEGO set.
400 CAD seems reasonable to me. I will definitely be keeping an eye on this one, even it's twice as expensive as my current largest set!
Fantastic addition to NC and NCD.
I can complete the square now.
But $399 ..... really TLG ?
Okay, I guess I can wait for a discount. If the shops ever have another decent sale.....
My wallet just hid under the stairs!
Is it just me or does it look a bit hollow
I like this set but I haven't bought any Ninjago sets since 2014 however I will happily buy certain parts of it like the lime green tree elements and some of the Decorated bricks n Tiles from bricks n pieces!
But very nice Detailed set lego...
OH MY.... *dies*
Best set ever after Ninjago City.
Love that tree.
Gonna buy three.
Clutch Powers! Young Lloyd! Ronin! The museum! That gorgeous tree it’s all built around! This is stunning, absolutely stunning.
Ice planet ice cream, love the old school references
Looks like another breathtaking Ninjago City set! Now please re-release the two originals.
As someone who isn’t into ninjago, it looks a lot less “gardeny” than I expected? Happy for people who are hyped, but I’ll get the lantern festival instead
Looks really cool but very expensive. Can't wait for more pictures of this set
The minifig selection had me completely baffled but that made me realise unlike the City and Docks, this one isn't based on the Ninjago Movie at all but on the TV show... It looks fantastic, though. Seems like it'll fit well with the other two anyway... Also quite curious what the back looks like.
January is turning out to be an expensive month...
“Ice Planet” ice cream shop and a Rock Raiders logo on a billboard? YES! Awesome references, and a worthy successor to my favorite set of all time! (And Brickset’s favorite, too!)

He was in a 2019/season 11 figure pack.
My feelings about this are rather mixed, to say the least. I don’t get why show-accurate Misako always has to be in a super expensive set; the Mechanic’s inclusion is frustrating as well. I’m also not sure whether to be pleased or annoyed that about half the figures appear to be random civilians who have not had and may never have a role in the series.
I spy a pink frog so suspect the involvement of Nick Vas!
Needless to say, the model looks incredible.
@randomly_generated : That is the CAD price, it is $300 USD
@Venunder: You should be at 250-270UK.
Is that an upside down grey baby carrier making up the face of the exo-force-esque robot? NPU indeed.
oooooh, golden Wu !!
MrsB has just hinted that I might be getting this for my birthday!

I was trying to figure out what piece that was. It looks like you might be right!
I can see the aftermarket prices for NC and NCD sky rocket after this release. I really should have pulled the trigger on those sets. I will now never own this trio of beauties. Rerelease maybe?
1-0 for the investors/scalpers here!
Oh my god... Say goodbye to usd300.00...
OMG! January 14th cannot come fast enough! ...How do they do it..? :)
Insanely awesome, I'm very excited for this set. The pictures do make it look a bit hollow... Looking forward to more picss.

Lego is producing too many good products for you to track aftermarket sets. Also, makes sense to think that there will be another set of this type after the Gardens, to continue the block. Don't regret for not having bought old sets, think of the masterpieces that are still to come!
Amazing...so glad the rumors were true. This will be a worthy addition to my Ninjago City. If only I had the Docks! Perhaps I need to get to work again on that other NC-compatible block in order to give some "breathing room" between two incredible corner builds!
I have Ninjago City so I don’t think I’m gonna get this one but I hope a good few of the minifigs are on Bricks and Pieces.
Mine!
Good thing I really cut down on my LEGO spending this year, so no problem budgeting this. Looks awesome and will go great with the other two, plus the new CTF Spring Lantern Festival set.
One thing still on my mind: how long until the first use of an unprinted dark turquoise minifig head piece. Would love to be able to complete my 40th monofig and this is the only missing piece.

This is a Canadian catalog. The U.S. price is $299.99.
71741 is the kind of set only Lego can make. Yes, there are other companies that can hire AFOLs and mass-produce really detailed 5000-piece MOCs, but creativity like this and this harmony in colors can only come from TLG.
I thought it was 48x32, though, it appears to be smaller, but yet larger than 32x32, like 42x32 or some odd number. That's not a big deal, but it is different from the Promobricks details.
This looks very interesting but I'll be saving my $$ for the Harry Potter sets later in the year.
oh. my. gooooosh!!!! yes yes yes!
the mechanic, young lloyd, ronin, yes yes yes!!!!
and oh yes...
SENSEI WU'S DOG!!!!!
One of the floors has an "Ice PLanet" Ice Cream shop, an excellent Easter egg along with Clutch Powers

"The most burning question of all, at least for me, is what happened to Clutch Power’s eye, and why is he hanging out in the ninjago universe? And, most importantly, is this hinting at a sequel to the first cp move, this time taking place in ninjago, or is it just a fun Easter egg. It happening twice in the same thing makes me think otherwise..."
yeah... clutch powers has been in Ninjago since season 11 (it's season 13 now) as a side character/ funny reference. the eye patch is kindof a gag, he lifts it up to look at things closer, and wears it to be cool
I feel like Mugatu and Maury Ballstein finally getting to see Magnum!
Spring Lantern Festival, Ninjago City Gardens, and isn’t Medieval Blacksmith Shop the rumored Ideas set in February? 2021 could have a blazing hot start.
And suddenly I remember that I was hoping for a Shark Army Narwhal and the Fuchsia Ninja with this set...
This looks great and I wonder if there is a fourth modular that completes the square...

"Glad I am not a follower of Ninjago and would never buy a set from this theme. I thought the main target audience for NG is mostly kids, but this and the other 2 big NG sets are definitely not for regular kids and more towards adults. I really don't see the attractiveness of these compare to regular modulars, not to mention this is over twice the price of regular modulars. Yikes. Won't even buy it if it's 50% off. It's funny its name and its looks are so similar to the first two sets. Wonder what the next one would be. Must be "NG something". To me it's just another lazy effort by greedy Lego to make even more money. The next one would mostly likely be $450 or $500 and continue that trend. Really don't understand those who are willing to spending $400 every year for this. Maybe cos I am not a fan so I never will understand."
For starters, Ninjago isn't JUST for kids. Yes, kids are its primary audience (as with most other Lego themes), but it has always been aimed at slightly older kids than themes like City and Friends, and especially given that it has been running for 10 years (hence this set to tie in with the anniversary), it has gained and held on to plenty of older fans as well.
The appeal of these is a lot different from the "realistic" modular buildings. Aesthetically, these are more fantastical and futuristic (bordering on cyberpunk), and instead of representing just one part of a city block they are meant as more of a microcosm of a vibrant, bustling multi-level city, with each "tier" of the city split between more traditional lower levels and newer, more high-tech skyscrapers on the upper levels.
And your concern about people spending $400 on these every year seems pretty unfounded considering that so far, they haven't. This is only the third such expansion (there was none last year) and while this does seem to show a willingness on the part of Lego to continue the series in the long term, there's certainly no guarantee that it will become a yearly thing like the modular buildings or fairground collection. For the most part Ninjago has typically had one large D2C set available at a time, and it's entirely possible that we won't see an additional expansion to this revealed until this is retired several years from now.
Well I wasn't expecting another corner that throws off my city a bit. I just finished the docks and placed it. But it will be fun rebuilding half of it to accommodate this bad boy. Looks great. Is that a single 32X32 plate?
^^^Guess we are all speculating here but certainly it seems likely they will continue to release more sets like this if this generates huge profit for them, which it does, and this is the third one, so needless to say. Certainly not against this set, just not my cup of tea and glad save me some good money. IMO the chinese festival sets look way better than this and way cheaper and not to mention a lot easier to fit into regular town/city than this. At least glad we have those now.
As an AFOL I don't see how anyone could not have at least respect this line. At the very least both Ninjago City and Docks are extremely well designed, great part usage and very detailed complete sets. I think they are both are a cleaver and interesting work of art.

I think when something is asking for $400, it’s okay to be a bit harsh.

Yikes. That means I can only by 2 of them. On Day 1.
.... off to rob a bank...
Finally, a Mechanic figure.
Shame about the arm though.
I really like it...
Like a lot.
This will cost roughly a kajillion Aussie dollars.
DID SOMEBODY SAY CLUTCH POWERS!!!!! hopefully teaser for a sequel or something
I like it. Whether I like it enough to spend $500 (AUD) on it depends on when I can get a job, and how this looks next to the docks. I missed out on Ninjago City as it was too expensive for me at the time. I feel like this needs Ninjago City next to it.
399.99 is a Major ouch but, looking at this really closely, definitely see why. The Buildings definitely huge too.

That's the Canadian price, so for us in euro it'll be 299,99.
I think I see... A NEW HAT!
Ninjago itself isn't my cup of tea. But these Ninjago City sets are just amazing sets, so I'll definitely be adding this one to my collection. :)

...or it's just a bowler and I was tricked by the light. Hope it's a new hat though.
I’m a massive Ninjago fan but I’m a tad disappointed in this one. When they revealed it would be called Ninjago Gardens, I imagined a sprawling garden with ponds and nature that was more wide than tall.
This looks great but I can’t really see the garden aspect of it.
I have mixed feelings. I love the big ninjago sets (temple, NC, docks) those are my fav Lego sets and have all of them but this one I don’t know. I am going to buy it ofc but why another corner building? Right now it’s only possible to put them together in one line if we put docks between this and city. Which looks “interesting” imho.

£270.99 still hurts after £450 for the collosseum. Might wait to see if this gets a huge discount on amazon or lego like the docks did when that was out.
When I heard about the set's name, I thought it might be the first Ninjago set I could buy. Now that it's 'leaked', I am disappointed. Still not buying Ninjago, I guess, completely uninteresting.
I love the way the building is built around a tree, but as there is plenty of space I would have made the tree wider with longer branches and a staircase going around. Maybe its all perspective, but this has nearly 1000 more pieces than 70620, but seems to have less depth, possibly its just wider. Hopefully, a future review will be able to show them side by side.
Wow, did not see that one coming. Also a must buy on day 1. And with the modular releasing just a few weeks prior, it'll be an expensive month! Now, to find where to display it...
First day purchase as where City and Docks, and I'm not even into Ninjago.
I have no interest in Ninjago, but every one of these "City" sets have been must haves. These sets have been beautiful. 2021 is really shaping up to be a much better year for my Lego interests... but worse for my wallet... lol
I have never watched Ninjago, but I like the modulars which is why these sets appealed to me, the style and colours, although this one is expensive, especially when I manged to save a £100 off the City Docks when that came out. Add the modular to this, plus the bonsai and lantern festival and my March birthday is sorted before the end of January.
Then again, the first Ninjago City was also this price and at least a thousand bricks less. Although my wallet does not care for that fact right now.
I’d like a Ninjago City re-release.
About time they releasing a new extension to the Ninjago City and the docks.
This is more cyberpunk than Cyberpunk.
This is magnificent! They spare no expense designing LEGO Ninjago Movie sets. I love it!
Waiting for a review and for pictures together with the City and Docks!

"I only have one question... why is Lloyd young again? I stopped following Ninjago after Sons of Garmadon."
first of all, you should totally keep watching. Lloyd is young because this is a legacy set and that minifig specifically with that hairpiece has not shown up before. He did not get aged down again, if that's what your asking.
Ok so now I have to remortgage the house is January to afford the Police station modular, the Chinese New Year sets and now this. But it’ll be worth it.
And bread and water is a balanced diet right?
I am disappointed. This just looks like a modernization of 70620 Ninjago City. Ninjago City Docks was way more original and still was able to connect to Ninjago City. TLG could have done better with this.
not what I was expecting from "gardens" but still great! maybe a day one.
