VIDIYO BeatBit checklist
Posted by Huw,
If you're collecting BeatBits you may find this image created by Twitter user Yaj_RedNinja useful. It shows all 104 of the tiles available in the first wave of BeatBoxes and BandMates.
I don't think it's been documented anywhere which ones are unique to which set yet. As I understand it, the BeatBoxes come with two unique and 14 random ones, while the BandMates contain one unique and two random. LEGO's published inventories do not provide the information, unfortunately, and in fact images of individual tiles have been removed from its server.
While we are on the subject of VIDIYO, it's interesting to note that LEGO has also removed the images of the sets at LEGO.com that can be used to fool the app into thinking you own it, although you'll still find them in our image galleries, e.g. this image in this gallery.
I've divided the image up for easier digestion after the break.
Via New Elementary, where you'll find additional information.

I don't care for the functionality of them, but look how pretty they are! I want ALL OF THEM!
dammit now i'm going to have to start picking these up. that snarky duck with the guitar is a must-have, amongst others >.<
I haven't had a chance to test any of the effects in the app but there are definitely some really cool designs in here. The Bandmates are a really good option for pushing an order over the gwp threshold so I've got a few on the way
This is what happens when you start collecting a certain group of items spread throughout a theme. You eventually want them all. It happened with me and the Knights of Ren. $369.96 for six minifigures of characters with under 20 minutes of screen time.

pssst.
Sometimes if there are non-licensed minifigures you like, you can find the parts on bricks and pieces.
I got both of my Monkie Kid sets this way.
But you didn't hear it from me. :D

The Vidiyo app is almost as rough to use as the Hidden Side app. I got all 12 BandMates and 2 BeatBoxes (Robot DJ and Punk Pirate), thinking I could put random minifigs together with some tiles and BOOM make a music video, but that's not how it works. You have to "install" the figures and tiles, add them to a band which maxes out at three members, and then once everything is "installed", you STILL can't just throw thing together and see what happens. When I tried to actually make music videos using my tiles, I could only use 2-3 at a time, and then I get a bunch of random ones to try... and I can't figure out why but I get the dang bagpipes one every single time, which is fun at first but gets old fast.
These will make really great record album covers for someone's Music Store MOC

I got that one! I got the snarky guitar-strumming duck tile with my Shark Singer.
The printed tiles are one of the highlights of this whole exercise. I think they're gorgeous. The figures are pretty interesting as well.
I said this in the review thread, but I realised today that a piece of graffiti in the City Skate Park set is the Shark Singer (riding a skateboard IIRC). I thought that was clever.
I really wish you didn’t have to scan in the characters and tiles every time. I like the app, it’s fun to muck around with, but I should just be able to click on my band/characters and the beatbits I want to use that I’ve previously scanned.
As an adult collectors all figs and beatbits are already bagged and stored away, so I understand I’m not the target audience anyway.
The inventories from LEGO do reveal the exclusive tiles to each set. Check rebrickable.com to see them.

I had a similar idea: there used to be a fantastic little bar near me where indie bands would play every weekend, and on the back wall near the toilets they'd hang daggy old 1970s vinyl album covers in a big tiled mosaic.
These make me really want to replicate that venue, with a bar and its stage and everything.
Waiting for these to be reasonably priced on Bricklink - not paying $5 for a random pack that will no doubt have the exact tiles I'm not interested in. ;-)
This puts DOTS to shame.
@jaredhinton
Rebrickable inventories are community made like Bricklinks, not official from LEGO.

Guys, if we’re looking at the same one, that’s totally a goose.
They remind me of kk slider's album covers

I think that is a Sea Gull . But yes, they are all nice prints and will make a music/record store properly stocked and/or make nice wall/poster prints.
Good luck!

NOT THE BAGPIPES!
I've said it before and I'll say it again, the biggest flaw with Vidiyo is the price of the Beatboxes. All the minifigures and BeatBits are awesome, and I want to collect them all, but the actually carrying cases are a bit much for what they're worth.
"I don't think it's been documented anywhere which ones are unique to which set yet."
From what I hear the exclusive tiles have a metallic shimmer/sheen. On the Beatboxes they're also the only ones not duplicated across all six set images (far bottom right and the one above the rocker girl.) For the Bandmates I'm not sure, but for those I do know the exclusive tiles for they're the leftmost ones on their stand in the product images here on Brickset.
One of my favorite things to do with LEGO is reverse engineer models, and some of these BitBits spawn builds onto the stage, so I really want to get my hands on the app just to recreate them.

you're joking, right?
I want them all.
The ones that always come with the figure are listed on bricks and pieces as their own entry.
The randoms have an entry, but it's a question mark and still randomised.
Stopped at Target for milk and grabbed one of the Bandmates on a whim (Red Panda, one of the few that I really wanted).
Between this line and Dots, TLG has some amazing printed tiles these days!
Actually they are not as random as people thought.
Aparently event Blindbox have 1 to match the figure and 2 other tiles are color coded. For example Genie will ALWAYS have yellow and pink tile
Great! Looks like I got half of my wish with this overview. :-)

You're totally right. I just opened mine, and they do follow the color code. I had two of them I thought the unique tile was another (they were weirdly thematic), but after fixing it, every color matches. That's quite cool! I wonder if there's a pattern for the beatboxes, as they contain so much more.
I wonder if the theme does good, if they'll have blind bags of just the beat bits--like the thing they did for Nexo Knights.

You're all correct :) Rebrickable do use TLG inventories, but then do a whole lot of extra manual and automated work to make whatever corrections are necessary. (This is why we at New Elementary have started using them as our primary data source, although Brickset and BrickLink databases still have their unique useful qualities.)
In the case of the Vidiyo tiles, TLG used a "?" image instead of the correct image, which Rebrickable manually changed to what you see now in their database.
I'm awaiting three blind boxes I used to reach the A.E. GWP threshold and will order two BeatBoxes while they're at least 33% off (still way too expensive). Going to sell the minifigs (which I'm personally not interested in) to recoup some of the cost. Hoping I get some of the tiles I particularly want for Ninjago City & generic town decoration.
I think a lot of these have uses beyond record covers... product advertising posters, gig/club posters, shop signage. Just a shame LEGO has made it unaffordable for the average person to collect a large proportion of them.
On the subject of signage, it would be nice if LEGO brought out a follow-up Xtra sticker pack with some more variety of shops etc. The last one seemed to sell out for a long time so I assume was a big success.
They are all also listed on rebrickable. The random tiles are stored in set VIDIYO-TILES-1. In the spare parts section are the ones that are standard with a set.
Quick question, Does anyone know what language these are printed in?

It's random gibberish...
This is begging for a Modular Record shop now with all these tiles.
Bought the unicorn box today to give it a try, only to find out that my phone does not support the app. It's only 2.5 yrs old, but apparently that's already considered dinosaur by LEGO. Disappointing.
Throw 10 in a pack, each one unique, and label the packs 1-whatever to complete the series. Sell them for 1.50/each (.10/tile plus .50 for packaging) and boom, you've got a winner TLG. Or, put 3 random ones in w/a wacky Minifigure for 5.00 each and I'll wait 1-2 years for the eventual clearance prices. Sorry, I do love these prints but I'm out on the mostly weird (although a couple kind of cool) Minifigures, blind boxes, and prices. I also dig Dots, which at least give you a peak at what you're buying. As someone else said above (sorry I can't remember who) these could be like Dots, only tons better.
As a person with a smidge of professional experience in product design and marketing, the comments here are fascinating. It makes me wonder how much attention the people at Lego pay to forums like this one. It does seem like they have released a product that could appeal to young (disposable) Lego consumers and lifelong collectors at the same time. The price point also makes second hand resale an interesting issue because people will want to recoup their expenses, suggesting that Beatbits will be expensive even on the 2nd hand market. Could this be a move into "trading" as a Lego habit? This story really could go anywhere...
And with my AFOL hat back on... one set for my record store might be worth it (oooooh, how original - lol)

Really? My iPhone is at least just as old if not more, and supports the app.

I have Android, but I really expected it to work. It's a bit silly, because you can scan the box to check if your device is supported. I just didn't consider this, because I totally expected it would work. Not gonna cry about it though. I'm a builder anyway and I was interested in the parts and minifig, but I would have liked to play with the app to see what it's all about.
I like the parts and the mini figs. And I will get some of them. But I am never ever ever again buying a lego product because of the app or computer game. they never work for me or are just plain awful.
I have no interest in the overall theme, but I sort of want to get a few of the minifigs. I wonder how “gold” the hiphop robot looks in person. Is it the typical color? The render looks really shiny - but then again it’s a render.
2nd image, 1st column, 5th row.
RIP Daft Punk

Wow, that is particularly poor app support... but to be honest, at least TLG is consistent- LEGO deems your phone to be obsolete after 2.5yrs, just like it will deem it's VIDIYO app obsolete within the same timespan- and on to the next LEGO meets VR attempt which one can only assume is already in early development somewhere in the heart of Billund...

That tile is unique to the singing shark in the blind boxes
So, there are 104 unique tiles. Each blind box allows you to display 3 tiles with each band mate, meaning that you’d need 36 unique tiles to display all 12 without any duplicates. Now, this same idea apples for the Beatboxes, but to display them you need 12 tiles. If you wanted all 6 all to have unique tiles, then that’d mean 72 tiles are needed. Overall, to display all wave 1 characters each with unique tiles, 108 tiles are needed. Even if you managed to collect every single tile, you’d be left with displaying at least 4 duplicates due to there being 104 tiles in total. I really wish Lego had made it so that, if you were really lucky, you could display all of the characters with unique tiles. I find it really irritating that it isn’t the case, but that’s just me. It’s definitely an oversight on Lego’s part IMO.
@denn:
Not that it should change your mind about collecting one, but I'm pretty sure that's a seagull. The coloration exactly matches the S10 Sea Captain's seagull.
@Mjvizcarra
Weird. It's possible the app ties the exclusive tiles to their associated characters, but based on its absence from all of the character images, the bagpipes appears to be one of the actual random tiles. Also, the photos show the Beatbox characters flanked by 4x6 flaps that contain six tiles each, and each Bandmate comes with a 2x6 plaque that holds three tiles. If you can have three band members, this suggests you should be able to load as many as 18 tiles in along with your three band members.
@Zordboy:
I have reason to suspect that the seagull tile is exclusive to the Shark Singer.
@CarolinaOnMyMind:
Seagull.
@GSR_MataNui:
I figured out the two exclusive tiles for the Beatboxes the first time those images surfaced, just because they were the only two that changed, so they had to show an assortment that was at least _possible_. Looking through the Bandmates just now, I also concluded that the leftmost tile is the exclusive, since they all seem to be thematically appropriate for the character. This is supported by the fact that those are the only tiles that matched in the review copies of the Bandmates sent to Brickset.
@zeah209:
The text on these tiles was intentionally made unreadable. Some of the characters may exist in one or more real alphabets, but others may not.
@Alatariel:
And that's a huge part of the reason their apps tend to flop more often than not. If people can't use them when the products are available, that will negatively impact sales and hasten cancellation of that theme or project.
@ElementalAvenger82:
There are six Beatboxes with two unique tiles each, and twelve Bandmates with one unique tile each. That's 24 tiles right off the bat that you get by collecting the minifigs. The Bandmates page claims there are 92 random tiles to collect, which should mean there are 116, but it appears they included the non-random tiles in that number. However, they have also stated that there will be 130 Beatbits released this year alone, so that would mean there are 26 that have yet to be revealed.
Based on the list of ten different musical genres, they need to release 12 more minifigs just to fill out the ten bands that they've started (Candy Pop being the only band that actually has all three members at the moment). Four of those would have to be Beatboxes, which means there could be 16 more unique tiles on the way (although, at that point, you'd need 72 more tiles to fill all the spots, putting you 56 tiles further in the hole).
I gotta say, while I'm not a fan of the app stuff, I love these figures to bits.
I mean one of them is a friggin' red panda.
A. RED. PANDA.
How can someone NOT love that?! Who on Earth DOESN'T love red pandas?!
