Double VIP points at LEGO.com
Posted by Huw,.jpeg)
From today until the 20th April, LEGO VIPs can enjoy double points at LEGO.com on all purchases.
So, an ideal time to buy 10283 Space Shuttle Discovery or, if you're in the USA or Canada, 76199 Carnage, which is now available there.

They've opened a bunch of backorders in Canada, including Diagon Alley and Assembly Square. Time to jump in!
Is it just online? I believe stores open in the UK again today.
I'm still waiting for the Ulysses Space Probe on VIP Rewards - any news of that coming soon?
Now is the time to buy all the Vidiyo sets at full price!
Does anyone know if the double points will work on the new Star Wars Helmets and Probe Droid - Even though they are a pre-order ? If it does I'll order now. If not I'll head to my local b&m store on 26th.

There is never a right time for that

When you're logged in as a VIP and put these sets in your shopping cart, scroll a little down to the end of the items in your cart and you will see -in the blue VIP banner- that you will earn a certain amount of VIP points as soon as the order gets shipped. I tried this (without checking out) and the amount of VIP points is indeed double the usual amount of points per item. So yes, it should work for you/ for any VIP customer.
Ha, of course I had just placed an order on the weekend because the bonsai tree was suddenly available again (well, in fact, it still is). But I ordered the bookstore modular right now because that also has resurfaced in the LEGO.com. Works for me...

I'm sure that TerryWright was just joking ;-)
You are right though IMO.

Indeed. :)

Officially? No, no news yet.
Unofficially? Yes, I've heard some news, but that's just a rumour so never mind.
We will all just have to keep an eye out for it and be patient for a while longer. Doesn't hurt ;-)
How does earning VIP points work when using your existing points? For example, if I were to buy Hogwarts at £350 using my existing £90 of points, would I earn the full £350 worth of points, or earn £260 worth?

£260 I think.

Definitely points on £260. I do this regularly (use points for partial payment) and get points on the remaining amount. It's also in the fine print of the T&Cs.
I've been waiting for this. For now have jumped on Ninjago City but am tempted to go for more. I want to ensure I leave enough in my wishlist for any upcoming tempting gwp tho...

I think it is 8 points for every £ you actually spend (not including points used). So £260 will be 2080 points (or 4160 during double points). I tend not to use my points during double, so £350 x2 will be 5600 points to spend later.
Okay, so double VIP points basically means getting 10% of the full price back, right? So if I were to buy the 700 euro UCS Imperial Star Destroyer, I would get 70 euros worth of VIP points? I must confess that I don't order much from LEGO directly...
Does anyone know if I can get double VIP points on Bricks and Pieces purchases? I actually tried to make a big purchase yesterday and got an error page thrown back at me telling me that Bricks and Pieces was unavailable. If it is back online maybe it was for the best since now I can get double VIP.
Why didn't I placed my over $300 LEGO order now? Oh that's right, I looked at the calendar and other than missing this announcement I wanted to get those sets soon rather than later.
In the order: Monkey Kid Mountain, Pff Road Transport, Creator Safari House and some parts which include boat hull to make my own fleet of cargo ships (space ships only serve to transport inter planetary good).
Do I get VIP points on items that are 'Backordered - ships in 60 days?', or only items in stock now?
Does anyone know of any upcoming GWPs that would be worth waiting for if I only had one big purchase to make? Or should I just cop now any take the double points?
Dang it! I've been waiting for this 2x VIP and of course the Start Destroyer remains out of stock. I'm sure it'll conveniently be available on the 21st.

UK Stores double points spending like £150 it's Ice Rink, Amelia and couple polybags
Well Mos Eisley would be the one, but it has been out of stock since it "came out" 8 months ago. What is the deal with that?! It's like they only made one small run of the set.
Anybody else seeing some sets not showing double points?
Typical. They were late this year with double points, so I ordered a pile last week assuming they were not doing it :(
Thought about waiting for double points before ordering the Space Shuttle, but I was afraid it would be backordered after release day.

Yes, 2x VIP applies to B&P. Since B&P orders don't count toward gift with purchase minimum thresholds, 2x VIP is the best (only) offer for these orders. Pick-a-Brick counts toward GWPs.
Waiting for news on Ulysses space probe. Don't want to miss that.
Brickset really is THE 'go-to place' for Lego news!
TLG did not even email me that they are having a double VIP point promotion starting today. Nothing!
I was looking at 10280 earlier to possibly buy for my Mum for her birthday, because it was finally back in stock (UK). I added it to my basket, but it failed because it said that it was out of stock again. I can't believe that it went out of stock at that moment, so was it just an error on the site? Has anyone else had similar experiences?
Friday = payday = 71747!

You should get double VIP points on any order placed within the period where this applies, even if (parts of) the order does not ship until after the Double VIP points period expires.
However, based on my experience it is crucial to make sure this actually happens yourself as TLG will not necessarily do so. I have had to contact - and argue with - customer service to actually receive double VIP points on an order that was placed within a period such as the one we are currently in now after discovering that only normal VIP points were applied when the order shipped a couple of months later.
Does this also apply to Lego brand stores? Assembly Square is backorder online, but in stock in my nearest store.
Been waiting to pick up the ucs falcon. Finally have the cash, my local store has 2 in stock and I'm on my way, the stars have aligned! Lol

But when it is double VIP ponts time, you shold not use your points, so you get double points for the whole order. Save those VIP points to your next purchase, when there's regular VIP point time.
Wanted to order the Bookshop now that it was finally available again after months of being out of stock, but there was a webpage hick-up and now it's gone again! Nice going LEGO :(
Well, I was hoping to get the Grand Piano but it's STILL "temporarily out of stock" in Europe...
I'll wait until the 20th to see if it comes back. If not I'll get something else and the Piano will once again be postponed...as I'm not buying it for 350€ without double VIP to make up for what I still feel is an excessive price tag.

Which store was that if you don't mind me asking?
Time to get the Medieval Blacksmith.
Unfortunately I've run out of D2C sets on my wishlist, and everything else is cheaper elsewhere, with or without double points!

This was in @hew Home store Southampton thou all UK doing it from reports I've read elsewhere
For any Honey users (the browser extension from PayPal, not the food), they are offering some bonus Honey Gold on several Disney sets right now including the castle, the buildable Mickey & Minnie, and the art, and have been cycling sets from other themes the past couple of days: https://www.joinhoney.com/explore/popular/lego%20shop/E9DXCzE8d_114
I got $30 USD back on the Medieval Blacksmith last month through one of these deals and just snagged the Disney Castle last night with an extra $42 cash back on top of the double VIP points. Not sure if the timing with the double VIP points was intentional, but definitely worth checking their list this week to maximize savings.

At least in England it's only essential shops for now, checked a few days ago.
Does LEGO actually state how many points you get per dollar spent? I went through the VIP terms and conditions and found this, tried following the hyperlink and it just brings up the VIP Rewards Center main page.
"The basis of calculation for the Program is Points that are credited to the Members VIP Account. The method for calculating the Points is the same globally, but the number of Points a Member may earn on the purchase of a particular product will differ from country to country, as the price will be different. The Points and Awards allotment principles can be found here and will be updated from time to time."

Of course Pooh is unavailable. Oh, bother.

If I remember correctly, it's 6 points per $1 US
