Random thought:

Since both FRIENDS sets are presented as studios and not as the fictive locations from the show, should all the minifgs from these sets, therefore, not be listed in the database under their actor's name (instead of their character's name)?

They bothered because the first FRIENDS set was quite popular."

They also bothered because people like me bought the original one and will be buying the new one! Lego wants my money!

The One Where The Website Actually Works? I guess it's a cliffhanger and we won't find out until next season (tomorrow).

I,ve noticed that Lego has been making remakes/lines of ideas sets, first the Saturn V, escalating into the lander, ISS, and shuttle, and then this?

First Big Bang Theory, then Central Perk, now this, and then Seinfeld. This shows that there's a market for sitcom-based sets, so why have none of the projects for The Office been made into sets. I want a Dwight Schrute minifigure!

From what is rumored, it's because another building company has the rights to it. It has to be one of the ugliest lego knock-offs ever, only including 3 figures.

TBBT and Friends are global. The test will be Seinfeld. That is less well known over here in the UK and possibly the rest of Europe. If that one sells well then maybe Lego will do The (US) Office, which is also not on the same league as TBBT and Friends this side of the Atlantic.

This is nice and all but they should’ve done community instead, that show makes you laugh more in 10 minutes than 10 years of friends did.

Now if they could just make a TBBT add on set of Penny’s apartment/elevator area! :D

By in Germany,

The problem with The Office is that there are several distinct versions. There's the US version, the UK version, a German version (called "Stromberg" but it is basically the same premise). There might be more in other countries I don't know about, but for example why should someone in Germany buy a set about a US show they never heard of?
TBBT and Friends have large fan bases over here as well, because those shows were shown and popularized here, so the sets sold.
Seinfeld will be interesting, because while it was shown here as well I don't know of anybody who would call himself a fan of it. Perhaps there are some, but certainly not anywhere near as many as with TBBT or Friends.

@BoettnerBuilds: great idea, I'd buy that too, and also don't forget the comic book store.

They don’t take away from slots in regular IDEAS and LEGO lines, so they’re fine by me.

Also Community has likeable characters. And I gave Friends a fair shot too. I don't think I bode well with comedies with laughtracks...

By in United States,

I just noticed on Legos site that there is a way to connect the apartments to the hallway so that the two units line up. While that may not be accurate, it sure looks a whole lot better on display that way.

Anyways, no sale, no GWP, so no need to get it. This set does appear to be incredibly well done, so I could see myself getting it once it goes on sale, and I would think 20% off would be doable for Black Friday, or more appropriately for February sweeps.

I need a The IT Crowd set :)

I reckon LEGO noticed that first! ;-) They know exactly what they're doing.
(The ISS was its own, separate Ideas set though, voted for by fans.)

Nine-Nine anyone?

I would prefer a remake in the style of this Friends set. The current TBBT set is just to small, and missing a large part of the apartment. So a remake would include Penny's apartment, the elevator, and a more complete Sheldons/Leonards apartment.

By in Finland,

If you buy it from Lego.com here in Finland, it's 179,95 €. A bit too much, in my opinion.

Gravatar
By in Belgium,

Distinct lack of offers at lego.com this year so far. Will be cheaper to buy elsewhere soon enough.

The one where you’ll be better off waiting for a decent GWP or extra points. Or waiting to see if Smyths gets it.

"After a brief period when New Zealand wasn't being ripped off with every single LEGO set, it looks as though the fraudulent mark-ups are back again. $US150 = NZ$210, GB£135 = NZ$265, AU$260 = NZ$280. Actual price they want to screw us for? NZ$300. Pretty much 50% more than the US.

Anybody want to buy a LEGO collection? I'm done with the plastic con-job. I'll spend my cash with companies who *don't* take the piss."

Lmao blame your socialist government for all the taxes boy.

OK, now that they've got the two Friends (sorry, F.R.I.E.N.D.S.) sets out of the way, it's time to give us more sets from the TV show we really want - The Simpsons!

Absolutely! I’m standing in line now to buy the Apartments, but I would love more Simpsons stuff. Just a vignette of the living room, couch, and TV with the main family would be excellent

I want a Red Dwarf, a Perfect Strangers, Get a life, Home Improvement, to name a few...

Moe's bar is the obvious choice.

By in United States,

So now there is proof to the mug GWP rumor via a LEGO Instagram ad. And you have to buy Central Perk specifically to get it. My guess is that they must have expected the Apartments to sell out, but wanted to do a GWP to coincide with the HBO Max Reunion.

But they haven’t sold out, and the online limit has in fact been increased from 1 per person to 2. And this GWP has missed the window of the set’s release entirely.

Yeah, a number of LEGO YouTubers were predicting this would sell out right away, but were clearly wrong. I think LEGO overestimated how much people were willing to pay for this. It's a nice set, but clearly they went too big and too expensive. They should have probably just released two smaller sets that had an option to join together. They could have probably charged more in total for two sets versus a single set and more people would be able to stomach spreading the cost of two sets over time. A missed opportunity?

That said, I'm a sucker and ordered it just after midnight when it became available on the 19th. I used some VIP points to soften the blow.
