Digital archive of Blocks magazine now online

Posted by ,

If you're a subscriber to Blocks magazine, here's some excellent news. If you're not, here's another good reason to become one:

Blocks is delighted to announce that we’re opening up the back catalogue, providing access to more than 80 digital back issues of the LEGO magazine for fans, including the rare pilot issue. Print subscribers will get this new perk completely free for the duration of their subscription!

The team at Blocks magazine is always looking for ways to offer better value to our print subscribers, and this might be the best offering yet. Now, every single back issue of the magazine is part of a digital archive that print subscribers will have access to.

Every single back issue is included in the digital back catalogue, including the rare pilot issue and Issue 1! Within the more than 9,000 pages there are classic features including the making of The LEGO Batman Movie, a look back at LEGO Pirates, how NEXO KNIGHTS was created, our review of the epic 71040 The Disney Castle, a trip to the beach to hunt for LEGO bricks and the prosthetic arm inspired by LEGO connections.

Oh, and it includes access to every single Technique guide too – so you can really learn how to improve your building skills.

Even if you already have a huge stash of back issues, this is going to prove handy – you can search the archive, so if you want to see every article about Blacktron, you can find the issue and the page where those features appear. You can then enjoy the digital version or dig out the paper copy and know exactly where you’ll find the feature.

This new perk is in addition to the existing benefits that print subscribers get;

  • Entry into the monthly prize draw to win LEGO sets
  • Save money – a print subscription is cheaper than individual issues
  • The magazine early, ahead of when it arrives in shops
  • No hassle – Blocks magazine comes to you
  • Discounts on selected items in the Blocks online shop

To find out more and set up your print subscription today, visit blocksmag.com. Any questions can be sent to [email protected].

‘We have an incredible library of content and it’s amazing that people will now have access to it. I’m really glad that people who have joined the Blocks train along the way – or have buried their back issues under piles of LEGO sets – will be able to enjoy these classic features,’ said Blocks Editor Graham Hancock.

Be quick! Issue 81 is coming to print subscribers soon with some fascinating interviews and fantastic examples of fan creativity.

During the week we will be publishing an article a day from the archives to give you a taste of what's inside.

WOW - good job team, I usually skipped a few issues per year based on content but having access to all back issues is a great reason for subbing.

I think I might have to start subscribing as it has become almost impossible to purchase in the shops. It seems one branch of Sainsbury's in South London ("The big Sainsbury's" as locals call it) is the only place I can get it. I quite like buying my magazines in shops though. Possibly because I used to work in a newsagents. I get a bit excited when doing a boring food shop and I see loads of new shiny mags!

What a fantastic addition

That's a great resource. I'm an occasional purchaser and there were a number of articles of interest but buying back issues always seemed off-puttingly expensive. A subscription is all the more tempting now.

I buy 'Blocks' every month but have never subscribed.

If I subscribed, it would arrive by post and the postman would destroy my copy. By buying it from a newsagents, I am assured of it being in good condition. Call me fussy, but if I'm paying £5.50 for something, I don't want it to be ruined.

I really wish they’d bring back the Brick Wife!

^ I miss Brick Wife as well. Always the first thing I read.

Also never had a magazine even slightly damaged in the mail. Each one comes in a plastic bag with another sheet of paper in it which I guess also adds a bit of protection, I guess.

Great news about the digital versions. Love the magazine, but the quality of thr printing isn't always the best. Hopefully the digital versions will be good enough quality to zoom in a bit.

I receive mags I don't care about such as from universities and about half are in bad shape. They are not being damaged through most of the postal system. It's the local postmen who fold the magazines along their length to get them through the letterbox and/or crush them in an attempt to get them in the letterbox cage when they would fit easily if they were angled down slightly. You would think that the postmen had never seen a letterbox cage before. One of these: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Letterbox-Fixings-Required-Catcher-Outdoor/dp/B07TKXHFC5/ref=sr_1_5?dchild=1&keywords=letterbox+cage&qid=1621855950&sr=8-5

Depends on the size of your letterbox and the determination of your postman!

just the reason I was looking for to subscribe instead of buying in the shop every month!

Hello, I was wondering if it was possible to subscribe to the digital issues only?

Yes I have a digital only subscription but don’t believe the current offer includes back issues as I still can’t access online issues prior to my subscription. I wish this offer would have that incentive as I would love to peruse older issues.

If you subscribe via Exact Editions digitally, it also includes the full archive: https://shop.exacteditions.com/blocks-magazine

Hope that helps

Yes I'm a subscriber as well and have felt a bit of disappointment with the quality of some of the pictures, specially the mess up they did with the Ninjago Gardens cover a couple of issues ago. They silently reprinted this in the next issue though.

Also I find it annoying when some months it arrives later than in the shops, but never had it damaged or missed one. Hopefully they can improve on these in the future cos otherwise is a nice read.

I may be being really dumb here, but how can I access the back issues digitally? I’m already subscribed.

On the postal note, it comes in a plastic cover bag thing, which stops the corners from curling. My postman tends to roll it up before putting it through the letterbox, which is fine after a few minutes under a heavy book.

There's a subscriber number that comes with the magazine, and that allows you to register using this link; https://login.exacteditions.com/checkAgency.do?titleId=23962

Thanks but it says I don't have an account with exact editions, do I have to make one?

Yes, once you've registered with Exact Editions using the subscriber number, you should then be able to just login and access the Blocks magazine archive whenever you like. If you experience any issues though, please email subs @silverbackpublishing.rocks

I just went ahead and created an account and subscribed through Exact Editions (Thank you @grahamh_100 !) and it was a very easy process and I have already thumbed through a few of the back issues.

By in United States,

Is there something like this for the Lego Ninjago Magazine?

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Am I right in assuming this archive is through an app/service rather than a local files collection? (I have problems with lots of magazine apps causing motion sickness and so prefer PDF.)

Gravatar
By in United States,

Yikes...I just went on the page to check out subscriptions. a 12 month issue shipped to US is equivalent of $155!! But almost $13 per issue is too rich for my blood. I realize they have to mail it over the pond, but I'll put that money toward actual LEGO bricks.

Thanks, It is exactly what I was looking for. Subscribed and already browsing through the archives.

Your assumption is incorrect. Follow the links provided above and you'll find out for yourself that it's all web-based and PDF format.
